It's just the same report, nothing new there. We'll really only know once the season's underway.
-
Just wait until Kronwall gets injured again then tell me what you think. I'm not sure if Lilja tops Lebda though... Lils was the one fighting for a sixth spot all season long, while Babcock kept Lebda in the line-up.

Powell's has a pretty good selection (understatement). Living in Portland for a year I got to check out their main location on Burnside... it lives up to its rep as being huge! I miss the PacNorthwest, for that amongst other reasons.

That's what they're saying, but I don't doubt they aren't keeping the details a little trimmed. I guess we'll find out what's what when he starts playing for a few months... I just won't be surprised if we see this keep haunting Z as the season progresses -- /adds a mini-rant slash long ass extra paragraph And YoungGuns: I think it probably would've been in the back of Stuart's mind when Z was going with him that night along the boards though. If you're pissed and going to crosscheck somebody, you're probably gonna do it, but the more examples you've heard made out of guys carry some weight when you decide in those couple seconds what you're gonna do. It won't stop everything, and who knows, it might not stop the most blatant injuries (Pronger would have bounced Homer's face off the glass anyway, even if it were with '98's squad, because he's Chris "It's My Wife's Fault, Blame Her" Pronger), and you can't measure this stuff, but enforcers... yeah, they aren't the answer. It's like as harold and others are pointing out specifically, it's team toughness. When you get excited about one big guy (Bert) finally getting on the roster like Detroit did, and when LGW actually is very stirred after a (rare) display of some Wing (rarely) sticking up for somebody after a line's been crossed, you know one thing: Your team doesn''t have enough of whatever even fans are starving for, let alone the team unit itself.

I forgot about Ovechkin. It'd be such a dream come true, although who could part with Nashville, St. Louis, and the "STILL GOING" rivalry with the Avs?
-
Brad Stuart. YoungGuns was directing his post at someone else, but on that topic: Enforcement out there won't stop somebody bent on putting a guy out, but incidental stuff (like Stuart's crosscheck) would start to dry up. Hell if any of the guys simply rabidly defended eachother, it'd start.

Exactly. Toronto, Pittsburgh (let's not discount the rest of the squad!), and Crosby. Consider me at the Joe. It'll never happen though, the Wings are too much of a ticket-seller for the West.

Columbus trades griffs to NYR for Shanny's ballgag (and Shanny), transsexuals bemoan loss. F-5

I think the credit would be better if it were credible though. I just see no difference between this and any other method for milking people. It's not as harmful as some frauds, but it's still Dwayne being a leech on the people that get duped.
-
I still remember that game and the crosscheck too, god dammit. Ever since he got sidelined and they said it was his back, I knew he'd/we'd be facing stuff like this... but the guy is too good to deserve his career taking a hit this way. He's barely even gotten his acclaim yet.

Want some sherbet marc? My sister wouldn't miss it from the fridge, trust me.

Where's Brandon's bow and arrow when you need it...

Imagine writing it. It has some interesting things from the rest of the blogosphere though. I haven't followed Eklund all that much like all these people have, but some of this stuff is just downright freaky, and believable out of someone who runs his "career" like he does. This is from a conversation between a Hurricanes blogger (acidqueen.projectremains.com) after an AIM user contacted her that looked like Eklund, and also later in the transcript after an offer for her to "join" Hockeybuzz was rejected: (16:58:01) eklundsaim: very interestingâ€Â¦you gave eric my aimâ€Â¦.you just solidified my case. thank you (17:01:20) acidqueen5426: Hard to solidify something you don’t have, chief. (17:39:58) eklundsaim: you don’t even know probably, because reading you I imagine you are not involved at the level that I am legally trackingâ€Â¦I have had people threaten my children, my wife, my mother, etcâ€Â¦they have been sending anonymous emails through a service, and fortunatley I know a prosecuter who is helping me out. Homeland security ip checking technologyâ€Â¦Anyway, this anonymous person just sent me another email that tied it all togetherâ€Â¦this is just hockey acid queenâ€Â¦I will protect my family at all costsâ€Â¦ (17:41:58) eklundsaim: i have done nothing illegal..it is very illegal to threaten someone through anonymous emails. (17:42:03) eklundsaim: now I have them (17:42:24) eklundsaim: so my family and I thank you. And like Wyshynski mentioned in the article, he's denied anonymously responding to other blogs (despite IP-tracking him) and said people are claiming to be him on AOL Messenger (come the f*** on), but Eklund smells like he's just full of more s***. I wasn't even aware of this kind of stuff going behind the scenes with blog circles, but seeing this actually pisses me off, if it's all true. He sounds like a manipulative little turd, and who knows the full story, but whatever. This guy is garbage.

we don't have to worry about that changing. I think Brett Lebda even volunteered to Kenny to change his name for something more Slovak sounding, so you know our squad's still willing to step it up when necessary. =p I don't know how arbitrations go, but I've heard that's pretty standard practice and just part of the biz. If so then the players probably just get used to it knowing it's about money, even though it's still bulls*** to hear that from your higher-ups.
-
It was probably one of the biggest scenes all regular season, aside from Lilja hugging guys' legs and the Sens/Sabres yearend mini-feud. They don't call this the Lady Byng league these days for nothing And I remember that McCarty stickthrow. I don't even remember what year it was, but the one-handed toss is unforgettable.

Quoted because it's just damn true. No one anywhere will ever run out of love for players like that, because they epitomize tons of what people want to see out of a player, and primarily that's heart. I think a Cup could definitely help, but there still are barriers. What sounds more hometown to you, Zetterberg or Kenny Rogers? Datsyuk or 'Sheed? Holmstrom or Rip Hamilton? I think a lot of fans won't admit to origins of players playing a factor in fan-reception, but I don't know how anyone doesn't see it. Konstantinov and Mac both played crazy games all the time or when the situation arose, but who got more love really? Mac. Vladdy was loved, but it wasn't in the same way, really. Where people come from doesn't matter, but it does matter. If you could turn Z into a good ol' Canadian boy or a farmgrown American rising star, you would have yourself the next Yzerman in the Motorcity.
-
Please don't judge Gordie's calibre on a Detroit Vipers one-time appearance. It's like walking into an alumni game 30 years from now and checking out Yzerman, they don't compare. -- I agree with Lou though, the team really doesn't have the same kind of starpower... it's also got to do with an organization that's been one the upside for 20 years, and on the incredibly strong upside in the last 10-13. Ticket demand tapers off due to expected success, but what can you do? Detroit really doesn't need superstars though, they've gotten by on hometown-stars: Stevie, Feds, Shanny, Vladdy, role player guys like Larionov, Mac, and Draper, although the biggest favs were players like Stevie and Shanahan and McCarty... which is why Bert got such a rousing reaction when the trade happened, too.
-
That is exactly what mine was. I decided a heart attack was the thing to aim for. And I just was thinking with all the Feds-love in Gen Discussion... pair Filppula with Z and add Fedorov, won't that make a - "ZFF" line? It is too good.
-
And yeah I really do think. lol I actually dig all these Fedorov threads, because they're hilariously reputed to send people into tizzies! 60% of the time they work all the time!
-
Basically. On top of that it's a one scene play, keeps the production costs low.
-
The Feds threads crop up every so often, but I pretty much ignore them since: 1) it doesn't matter, our opinions are moot, and 2) it's such a pointless topic. Either he will or he won't be a deadline acquisition and I don't care too much about it until people (other than Eklund) start talking about it. (and yeah, this isn't about getting him, I'm just saying how ridiculous it is) But if I'm reading you right, are you saying that he's washed up because he was moved to D? I gotta say, that's not a good argument for labeling him a has-been.
-
I could eat myself fat off that stuff! It's the best! Last week was my FIRST time ever at Coldstone. It rocked.
-
Eminem - Welcome To Detroit City. Get with the times. And no kidding arnold... Dion was frigging gone after that. I think even CBC's commentators said he looked like he didn't know where he was once he got up. That is my highlight of Dano's career right there.

^ I'd say negative numbers could express the chance best, yeah. But evidently it's the offseason, since we're killing time even bothering to think about it. How finn it'd be though!
