It's been highly similar through all the revisions though. I get what you're saying, that wasn't the best analogy to put the idea out there is all. And to paint the picture of introducing a third shirt: if our goaltenders get s*** for not leading us to a Cup every five years, somebody sure would x10 if they didn't balls-out succeed at a good 3rd jersey design. The Avs, Flames, Sens, Leafs, and Canucks had good ones, but it's a bit hit and miss if you ask me.

    Oilers Tender Offer to Penner

Is there an opening for two-way agreements on restructuring contracts without cap penalties? It's the only way Niedermayer and Teemu both are staving off retirement if they match.

Anyone wanna see some REAL hockey?

He played a year with a Toronto team after the draft, I think. I actually remember those outdoor games.. and they were abominably stupid. I did favor the RHI (which is where Legace played--not like I knew that stuff, I just looked it up last week), a roller hockey league that could support itself would be a good thing. But it's not going to happen. Check back with Eklund for some Bettman rumors on it though, you never know!

What are you reading right now?

I thought the movie was fascinating, the book has to be double that. I've heard of BLJ, and I've heard of The Color of Water... I don't remember what it was about though. Maybe I'll google that right now.

What do you do Brandon? I've been curious to ask but haven't, spill your secrets! Mmm... strawberry... I've never had homemade, but amber, along with frosting that is the other food I could sometimes eat straight out of the container. I've hardly been around folks, but it's the offseason and I'm working and the only thing interesting is water cooler threads... but I'm glad all you guys keep this place rolling. Have a cerveza to pass the time

I was playing around with some black and white settings the other day, it wasn't any serious portrait-taking session--I just wanted to test it out on my Nkion. It made me remember what it was like to Have Hair and how I Do Not anymore though. Here's an -old- headshot... Forgive the "pseudo-bedroom eyes" and boring bare shoulder going on, I hate that stuff, but it's the only "hair" photo that I have on my computer. And then the now and past year or so (in large). I decidedly think the near-shorn style is better... for now at least

I heard the Obama girls want to do a Peklund video soon. This would be a fantastic move.

Favourite Moment of the 06/07 Regular Season?

Best. Play. of the Year. It was an even better goal-scoring turnaround than Markov and Dats. The other play that comes to mind is a shootout goal by Pavel, but I forget who it was or what team. Dats had the guy looking the total other direction while he flipped the puck past him left side. San Jose? Chicago? Dallas?

What are you reading right now?

I'm not reading anything right now, but I was flipping through books earlier tonight and read through a chapter or two of The Things They Carried. It's fiction focusing on brief clips and stories from the Vietnam war apparently... Honestly, I'm not too sold on the book, but the writing style has my interest piqued. It's not a stupid piece of fiction that is all like, "set in such and such era, here are your characters, this is the convoluted story, now go eat all this crap up because all you wanted was a book about Subject Whatever and that's placed in This Specific Time Period". It's not that at all. It's more like verbal snapshots that paint specific pictures on specific experiences in the war, albeit (how much I don't know, and this is another thing I'm wary of) fictional I'll go pick it up some other time, but the mark against the book I have--and I'm not sure how many people would know what I mean, but if you do then you'll get this--is that while the narrative style is sharp and VERY engaging, it relies on being very descriptive and having a lot of adjectives - the guy who wrote it is basically a verbal artist, and that's cool. But it doesn't lend well to being a truly "great book", it just means you write in a way that'll engage someone's imagination and that (too) is cool. The downside though is that it also means you might not really have anything great to say either. Not anything bad to say (again either), but certainly not stellar or that could put you up as having Written Something Truly Memorable. Sometimes you have both, but the two don't always go hand in hand as the same gift with people or writers. /review over -- And to leave a reply on a book -without- adding a huge assuming overview, ever hear of From Baghdad, With Love? I'll just say this, it's nothing more than a story about "A Soldier and his rescued (eventually)-from-Iraq Dog", but it's really endearing. And I don't have a pref for war books, just to note, these two just happened to stand out to me. From Baghdad is a nice contrast to all the other stuff in Iraq though if you're the type who can enjoy a simple book at facevalue every so often. I did.

Remember Jamie Mclennen Calgarys stick swingin backup

It was bulls***, but I'm going to be frank, I don't blame the guy all that much for acting "under orders", even though we all know that doesn't remove culpability. McLennan's 36, he's never had a solid career, and when it comes to wanting to keep your job... yeah, even if you're an upstanding guy with a moral spine, you suddenly have a conflict of interest there. It didn't help the case for his job anyway, since his ass is headed to Russia. It's like with Lilja though, you want to keep your paycheck so you'll do what your team needs/coach asks of you. Main difference there though (definitely not the only, these are different situations) is that we admire Lils for getting the balls, and McLennan... yeah, that's a no-brainer, he'll get s*** for it, and rightly so. if it were a real crazy chop or something other that could be seriously injurious to a player, I'd be pretty quick to start pointing the finger, but as it stands I'm probably more for giving Playfair the better share of the blame

Wings interested in Forsberg, Selanne, Markov

Offsides did the calculations a while ago, I think we'd eat about $2.5mill of his salary. I like Feds, but I'm still thinking on "scoring" vs. "toughness"... we need both, but it depends on how we get it. Ideally packaged in one player, but I doubt Kenny will pull that off. Once the summer's half-way through and you realize it's your first (and only) time winning the Cup, you start thinking you may just want to do it again. It doesn't matter if you're near retirement, the desire can grab anybody. I don't think the Wings will get him, or anybody else will for that matter. It'll be Anaheim + the Cup or bust for that guy.

Wings interested in Forsberg, Selanne, Markov

If he wants to go to Anaheim, he will. I don't know how much cap space they have left, but we definitely wouldn't be "robbing the ducks" if we got him. They already would have shot themselves. I guess I don't have the ill will toward Anaheim either, all they did was take Schneider and Bertuzzi. As much as I loved the idea of Bert, those two deals didn't really make me feel much one way or the other (after a couple days for Tuzzi though, because dammit, that was the closest we'd come to size for years... in the form of an injured power forward =P.

Wings add premium benefits plan for season ticket holders

That's gotta make you wonder how much it costs to get on that Redbird II trip. I doubt that I'll ever care about hockey that much to own season tickets, but... I hope those incentives are actually worth anything to ticket holders. I've heard a number of the ones around on lgw voicing their issues with how it all could be better.

    Check out Peklund! The Anti-Eklund!

oh yeah? hahaha, I remember that movie... oh well, it's Mr. Ek "I am working on a rumour right now originating from my nose. The more I pick at it the more I realize that Ilya Kovalchuk may be headed to Atlanta for Ilya Kovalchuk. More later. I need to make some phone calls to confirm this. P5" This reminded me of some post Heroes of Hockeytown made last season about Robert Lang being traded to the Wings... from the Wings. He was extremely puzzled to get on the bus at the Joe, only to make a circle around it and be deposited at the player entrance again.

    New Pens jersery's

Okay... so I like the Vegas gold they've had on the jerseys. I really do, it's a different color (as in, no one uses it) and isn't as Stick a Knife In Your Eye glaring as the old yellow or the Preds' babypukes. It's great to me. I gotta give the big Roman thumbs down to this though: Sorry, that's the art of overkill you're writing a book on, Pens Tzu.

Wings interested in Forsberg, Selanne, Markov

If we had a mobile big guy, I'd put him out there with Selanne and Zetts... and you can just imagine the goal-scoring carnage that'd result. But alas, we have no such big guy. Actually, he'd probably be better with a set-up guy like Pavel, but I share the same opinion as harold--Teemu will retire or work his way in at Anaheim. And I sure was hoping to retire that #8 of his between Lindsay and Howe, too.

If he's caught staring into the Detroit river, he can definitely be tipped over the railing -- "Back in October they were a little tight, but I’m sure by now they have modified them to be a little bit more comfortable," Fiddler said. "I approach the change with the thought that any time you can try to protect the players and make us safer it is just going to make for longer careers. If the league can keep us healthier and keep us in the game, it is nothing but a good thing.†COME ON VERN WHERE IS THE HAND UP YOUR ASS (that's an exaggeration, but talk about being fed lines)

Wings interested in Forsberg, Selanne, Markov

Fors's career is over. Foppa may play again, but he's so injury-riddled it makes Hasek look like a 20 year old Olympic athlete in his PRIME. I actually forget their salaries though, but Selanne's '06-'07 doesn't matter because it was a one yr $1mill deal. But you can bet on one thing, Selanne definitely isn't what the Wings -need-... but a 37 year old guy who puts up 90+ points and 40+ goals (last 2 seasons, at least), yeah I'll take that.
