It was, actually. The hit numbers were equal, but the Sens were definitely getting more quality for their buck. Our guys didn't even initiate to begin so their checks were basically "returning the favor" - Ottawa definitely outplayed us on the body.

Kopecky and Sammy have got to go. I haven't seen anything beyond: A) losing the puck, or B) Falling Down, when it comes to that giant we call #82, and Sammy... yeah I've lost my patience for the guy, love him or not. And if Babs is shook, then the Wings' front office had better be, again, taking some notes. I half-hoped for the game to finish this way, if it could get any of them to think "You know, maybe winning in the regular season isn't the same as winning in a grind-it-out, beat-em-up playoff series." This will be pretty much the closest thing to playoff hockey we'll get until April. Is it 7o'clock yet?

Is this about salary issues, not who to trade for X commodity? In that case nobody. We have ~$5M and the cap may raise (likely not as much as last year, but we'll see), so basically I'd count Flip as the untouchable out of those four. Franzen doesn't play big like someone else said, and there are better options to cut before Hudler (Heck no!) and Cleary (No phaneufing way!)

They're more connected than you think. Does the team get a lift out of a spirited fight? Yep. Do they like seeing a guy in red absolutely crush the opposition? No doubt. Will their shoulders sag when the other team is running around, doing whatever they want to their buddies? That they might. Can that be turned around by said big hits and/or stand-up fighters? Definitely. Team morale is definitely affected by all physical aspects of the game. Whether it's a physical aspect that gives you Five for fighting or not, these are parts of team play and how momentum works.

It isn't even fighting. It's the whole area of toughness actually. Fisticuffs are just one part. I'll let the other posters explain why being able to answer the call matters (Any call), but I know that anyone who's played organized hockey knows why throwing your body around, popping a guy that needs some calming down, and sticking up for your teammates, is crucial to team morale and the flow of your team's game. Not trying to play the "you haven't played so you don't know nothin" card. Just saying that people who have, tend to know this because they've been in the trenches.
