I'm pretty happy for Shanny in NY, really. He'll finish his career out a Ranger. Let's hope they actually can get past the first round next year.
-
It's true, he would. Hell, I'd play him more in the playoffs if he were a little taller. But I wasn't saying he has amazing abilities with the puck: he's got better handling skills than Filppula, that's all. I haven't watched either closely enough to be an expert on them, but Flip doesn't have the same hands or puck awareness.
-
It isn't much of a change though, anyway. Like harold said, it's a pretty moot point. I never see breakaways before the center line either.
-
Me too. Hudler, seriously, is the more talented out of the two. His skill with the puck is what sets them apart.
-
How 'bout them! 12 runs by the fifth last night! It's Washington though, but whatever. Only three hours til 7:05.
-
Right. That's why most of them will get knocked out by this system, because most of the bot programs out there -don't- post in existing threads. It's a good fix for the moment.
-
I liked those, too. I tried looking around on the net to find old photos... but good stuff. Some people really hate the purple and the teal, but I dig those two colors.
-
Basically. Relive it here, folks.

I'm chill. I wasn't really directing that post at you so much. I have pretty good reasons for that kind of response though.

Red Hot Chili Peppers, Road Trippin'. It's a solid song.

I don't see why not. I get what you mean, but at present I don't see anything huge that'd keep him preferring Western conference teams/arenas/cities or anything else. But I know, can you imagine the Pens with Kariya and Crosby? I'd even want to tune in, and they already have a great enough tv hometown market in Pennsylvania.
-
They were pretty lame, to me. There was nothing interesting about their design at all... there really wasn't. The purple shouldered jersey that Fedorov wore one year in the North America vs. World was good, if I recall, but it's been a while and I don't know if there're any sites that have images of the yearly all star jerseys. But these remain my near-favorites: I'm not even all that old either, seriously. But I wonder if those geezers like Hank or harold would agree with the old style All Star design.

2% tops. That Cap sweater is looking GREAT though. It deserves the capital letters. Don't know about the arm stripes... they look good in the second picture with the bent arms though. About NHL 08 though--they gotta do something about the gameplay. That game seriously is cake, the graphics can't save it.

On the Chelios issue: Bert and Cheli quickly became BFFs though, so Kariya and the old man could easily kiss and make up. We'd never pick him up, and you're right. I don't even know if we could take his salary anyway--but that's a moot point. Kariya'll improve anyone he goes to though. I'd love to see him in Pittsburgh to be honest.

That's the really mindblowing thing about that bit earlier, the town turning against the kids who talked about it. The whole thing is so ass backwards and crazy, even though I get how it works. And I know, right? I'd demand dinner before that!

I'd never date anyone who thought that was remotely acceptable. It's not odd considering our culture here (or some other global spots), although it is pretty messed up and sad. I hear you. I ain't entering warfare trenches on this topic (because it's useless), but that stuff is reprehensible.

Filppula is definitely the more all-around player, and more reliable to boot. But to answer the OP's question, the general concensus is the size that each dog brings to the game. Hudler has a lot more to compensate for when he gets out on the ice--I don't know about him having defensive laxness, but that's something I'd have to watch for in the pre-season when it comes around. -- To add to a long post though, Huds is the more talented player in my opinion. I haven't seen too many people assess -that- part of either player on here, but I'm pretty curious to people's ideas on that. If he can add any bulk to his frame or keep players from shutting him down out there, he seriously would be the better player of the two--and I'm already pretty sold on Flip, <--- per the username. When you watch the guy in the corners, you can see how Hudler relies on grabbing the puck and wheeling away from players down there, and that he's decent at that. Same with his skill with puckhandling.

You'd hope not. The stories are gold and there aren't enough of them. "The Stanley Cup -- does not float." This isn't all that funny a story from the link, but it's absurdity wins it major cred: In the Chicago Stadium, in the spring of 1961, the Montreal Canadiens were losing the final game of a Playoff series to the Chicago Blackhawks. A Montreal fan in the stands could not stand it so he left his seat, ran down to the front lobby and broke into the glass showcase where the Stanley Cup was on display. He grabbed the Cup, hoisted it over his shoulders and made for the exit before he was arrested. In court, he explained his behaviour to the judge: "Your Honour, I was simply bringing the Cup back to Montreal where it belongs."

They have someone who etches the names in... I'd probably figure she takes care of dents at summer's end too. I don't doubt it's costly - by our standards, at least. And honestly guys, that dent looks more like Pronger butted it with his chin. He got overzealous while eating honeynut Cheerios out of the top bowl one breakfast morning.
-
I know, right. oh well. One of the best pictures of the Cup was off the back of Mac's bike, I'd have to say. He owns so many other guys in the "best photo ops" department.
-
Third ring down, but yeah, like harold said. I'm wondering who's team they messed up. They've gotta be honored to get the Duck dent.

The idea of the Joe being around for another twenty or thirty years is pretty impressive. These days though I'm not sure if it'll stick around--everyone pushes for new arenas, and the place is going on its thirtieth anniversary soon. To listen to some of the city reps angrily talk about the injustice of the JLA deal though is a little hilarious!

It's pretty sweet, Disney and them carpe diem phrases in other langs. Languages, that is!

Traumatic life stuff for other people always makes everything else seem so stupid. I just don't get existence sometimes.

This is one of those times I stand behind Glas's posts on LGW. Way to go, Ross.
