I'm sure they focused on what need be done. Like HC said, keeping the team loose, with eachother, feeling like a cohesive unit and ready to play out there, that can be as important as 'barrelling down' on them and saying "here's the gun, you're under it" -- or some much more inspiring version of "this is clutch time, guys."

WCF Game 6 (5/22) GDT: Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET
Flip-check replied to aflac9262's topic in General
All the years later, the tations are still sick. But especially Yzerman's speech: " ..we are here to win that game but this is not our goal... our goal is to win game 7, and then we have to win four more" -
<--- Take great notice of the difference in avatars between me and Rabs. My Bobby Lang is the good angel on your shoulder, hers is the devil in disguise. Her goal is to dominate your soul. Mine is to lead it into truth and light. I say cross your arms and shrug at her. Get a beer out of the fridge. Sit down on the couch. You can win this battle of wills (and wits). You got her, Glasgow!

Cap on last game. NHL.com's Clutch Game 5 Preview I was taking a look around at some of the Sabres forums earlier and the posters seem mostly hopefully optimistic about the game, even how dark it looks for their squad. And I even found a counterpart for Aflac, albeit not with the same GDT-spawning skills as ours--behold: Schonygal If anything defines the series right now though, it's this:

Between everything I'm banking a little on Nick to add some direction out there. It isn't a compass that the guys need so much though.... it's that anything else that has kept them from burying the Ducks. It's 3am right now and I have no intention of sleeping - not because of the game, actually, but just because I got stuff to do for class tomorrow and I'm full of energy drinks. I definitely hope his words stick and propel them tonight though. This is the biggest game of the year yet, before the game after, and any elimination or Stanley Cup securing Finals games.

glas, stand up to her! Say something smooth like, "Me and the whole Scottish futbol team! You want some?" All women everywhere love that. Until something really bad happens at least, but you're a good guy who wouldn't ever get too stubborn and out of control
-
If you tell everybody else to steal your unique Lang avatar some guy/girl what -could- be tricked about that. Perceived fidelity prevails. I know that dude in General Discussion sure had me going "whaa--? Offsi- wait, that ain't.." while scrolling down threads. Magically translates to real life somehow, too. edit: as they say, "oops"

I know, she's a definite cutie. May all the snazzy headlines in the world bring you such glory glas, gotta say sir, to do breakfast and lunch would do me in. I both respect and fear the carrying capacity of your belly however.

That mullet always makes me uneasy. I have to feel the back of my neck to make sure one isn't growing there after seeing. Here's to Lang using the length of the mullet to confuse goaltenders!

Jessica Biel will happen to read it and track you down after that. And then: happily ever after and a million incredibly attractive heirs in your lineage, ready to grow up and play hockey with the likes of Dano and Bert's children down the road. But yeah, I'm definitely thinking on what it'd be like to win a game seven and gain "entry" to the highest of the heavens in the Cup finals. Thinking long, and hard. Hahaha, ouch! How crappy! I've seen that Little People show, it was pretty good. I actually thought it was really insightful and interesting, but not too many people give a rat's about that kind of situation and lifestyle.

To be honest.... At this point I'm not sure what to think of the Wings, or the series. They went through the first round and took on Calgary, dropping their two away games--major disappointment. Then we arrived to San Jose and dropped two out of the first three, but we managed to turn it around in game 4 with Robert Lang's goal with :30 left. These weren't backbreaking moments in the series, except against the Sharks if Lang didn't score and we went down 3-1. We've faced trials, but they weren't ordeals. This isn't either--this is no ordeal. I'm sure many people feel this in regard to some teams at times, but this truly feels like it's to be yet another year (a good year, but no different), -or- a year with our number on it and destined for us to take it all the way. I don't know if the Wings -will- win the Stanley cup, but I have a definite feeling that we will make it to the Cup finals. We'll take it from there. But I feel that hand of fate here, able to urge us that far at least, before we have the reins to our own destinies.

The bad part, is that it's true. The good part, is that you reminded me exactly of this, Jen Bauer:

I am SERIOUSLY IN LUB with this one. Mine, senors and senoritas! I have a strange feeling that this is what Heroes of Hockeytown (now that he's back, thanks for intimidating him to Rabs!) would have picked. But there's nothing like Sinister Eye Lang with the Pullback Arm action.
-
I say we talk to Matt and have him put on a "default avatar" script that applies to all accounts for gameday, and Jen can cook us all something up to be inserted. That is the most expedient way to success in this matter. ..it'd be quite funny and freaky though!

I know, although there haven't been too many primo tv moments along the line of Bert's Nagasakiing Ozzie to "need to capture". If there were... On another note--We are so getting the next goal.
-
With a Cinderella goal like that by the Pain Train... There is no doubt, Jen. By the way, do you and Os have dvr potential on your tv? I know loo's got it, I basically want clips of Lilja's fist pumping after that goal.
-
Let's gain one on our ANDREAS LILJA FIRST PLAYOFF GOAL EVER ONE GOAL LEAD Two fine chances... come ON!
-
Ew to the 10th power there
-
The refs are so obviously on Anaheim's payroll Adios loo! Hurry back!
-
If he did, weeeeellll.... That's Doc for you. Let's hope he at least acknowledges how to our benefit it'd be if we simply stayed on PKs for the entirety of the game.
-
Man! That 3-on-2, Lidstrom!
-
Let's hope he keeps this up, because if he does - he'll get it! He had a fine move spinning in the corner, let alone that move up around the net!
-
You're so lucky you aren't getting some 4rd infamy with the sould That's a great picture! (...aaaaaand makes me envious of places with super wonderful weather and beaches!!@lkajsdf) I find Homer's sweater of "Brooklyn Bronx / South Queens" to be just funny - he deserves a few Jackie Chan Rumble in the Bronx dvds sent his way.

I'd vote on your eternal soul being pretty good still. But then I didn't even see it, so what do I know. Something about happiness and dancing must have turned me off. This must mean I'm a gloomy pessimist who doesn't like to kick off his blue suede shoes!

I don't even have a connection to Buffalo, but I feel for the Sabres. This will be a long summer...
