I don't have an opinion on this one. But man, this is gold:

    Fedorov a D-Man?

I say that Columbus ought scrap him, even though you have a Jackets #91 jersey somewhere. ....aaaaaaand.... he should come here, for $2mill! I think that'd be an excellent idea. "It is an excellent idea!" Why thank you Kenny Holland, you are so gracious.

    Homer & Dats

Danke schoen Rabs! Yeah, it is awesome, isn't it? If only Neo had a wings jersey on. And aww.. y'saw right through me, he didn't say that verbatim. It was definitely in his eyes however.
  4. I wonder if he, y'know, wants a fat lip! It's crazy to think of how late in the draft some of these guys go and the research the organization's done on them... the numbers speak for themselves. Someone like Dats at 178th, Zetterberg goes at 210th, all passed that much over. And here we are to handle Dats wanting to push $7mill =p and Z being a franchise player now. It's incredible, ain't it?
  5. I am decidedly a fan of listening to "Dream on" and "Where the streets have no name" while watching classic reels of the captain. I still don't think there is anything as iconic to me more than that behind the net angle of Yzerman rushing past the blue line, raising that stick, and ending the double overtime against the Blues in the '96 series. I mean, if anyone has "single biggest" images of a sports star burned into their minds, it would be that. Dear LGWers, I ask you, what would be yours of el capitan?
  6. .. per the title and my being twelve years old still: HAHAHAHAHA!

    How does league expansion work?

Houston honestly would be just bizarre. There's already Dallas.. would Texas support two NHL teams? If they did, Seattle somehow seems like a better choice for that market.. northern WA already is close enough to British Columbia, and I think that actually could be a valid choice. It's so retarded though, so many of the games are sleepers already with thirty teams as is. Bettman: But if it helps me sell more coffee... you know I gotta, Rabia! GOOOOOO AVS VS. WINGS!! KEEP THE RIVALRY ALIVE!

    Fedorov a D-Man?

Yeah, exactly. And besides, there's still a lot of memorability to him for fans, so it'd go beyond "he's with us so hey, let's open our arms". I know it'd be that way for me. What is his contract length, by the way? I could likely google that baby up somewhere... but I'm busy with other stuff.

    Homer & Dats

This syncs with a post-practice quote from him: "Ehhh, it is true, I do miss Zata. I do not miss him rifling tip-shots at my groin in practice though. It is not so funny."

    Happy Birthday Stanley!

' But the apple doesn't fall far from the tree -- St. Jacques has an eleven-year old son, Eric James, who is also a hockey fan. "He's playing hockey and loves it. But he's really funny when he sees the Stanley Cup," smiles the proud mother. "He calls it, ‘My Cup.' He says, 'Mama, there's my Cup on TV!' But he's grown up with the Stanley Cup." ' -- INSANE, I TELL YOU.

    Fedorov a D-Man?

They wouldn't boo him, either. It's not at all amazing how people will take issue with someone leaving, but could easily return to loving them when they do something like return.

    Playoff Slogan

That sounds strangely kinky. I'd go for it.

3/14 GDT: Predators @ Red Wings

What have been the past ones? I swear they're in my head, but I can't recall 'em.

    Nashville ... Catfish?

I agree (in part), but I'd stress the "decent" rival. It'll be a while (and a few hardcore fights or playoff struggles) before a real, actual rivalry co-exists between them. Right now everybody's got their attention on Nash due to the conference point race going on. I honestly don't know if real rivalries are capable of being actually sustained in "the new NHL" though. This bothers me a lot, as Super Unimportant as this too is.

3/14 GDT: Predators @ Red Wings

Rabi... on that day, Bert will destroy Preds on a swath of destruction unrivaled by any this season. Don Cherry himself will crap his pants when watching the highlight reels. And I am still not yet prepared for the fallout that'll come! It'll be DY-NO-MITE!

    Nashville ... Catfish?

The funniest thing though is that of all the things to spend a moment and have an opinion on, out of all the things in life and existence: People debating that "throwing catfish is dumb" has got to take it for Super Unimportant Topics To Talk About. They do what they do, who cares? I'm lead to conclude only this: More people need to get out of their houses.

    Nashville ... Catfish?

That is sick! Scott Mellanby, pest exterminator extraordinaire... you've gotta be kidding me. Also, betterRED, that is awesome! It also just makes me think of a past article from a while ago on the "correct manner" in which to throw the octopi, as apparently they have a different physics than lobbing any regular ol' object. I honestly forget how it's supposed to go to ensure on-ice impact.

    Huds proving critics wrong

I think someone should clone Flip's shoulders and surgically implant them on Rex. Then we'd have a great reason to rotate the two!

    Next Year's Roster

Same here, I think. Sorry Marcus... but we'll have to see Cleary tear it up a few more times consistently for a salary up. But Dom's definitely going to call for more, so long as he still doesn't get injured this year. It's vaguely ridiculous to me to see Dats trumping Z on the rollcall... but he's already got a few years left locked in at that number, but it'll be good to see if #13 can earn a new contract with the Wings.

Alex Kovalev's amazing accuracy clip! WOW I'm speechless

Well said! I've seen guys doing this before... and I'm sure many could if they took the time. The one-wristed shots and ice-level lobs just up the difficulty. But the first is more about strength in your wrist and focus than anything. The accuracy and consistency he's got otherwise in the clip... it's really nothing.

    White Jerseys at Home

I'd kind of figure he was -making fun- of Rex... but maybe it really was a goof. It'd be such a great in-joke to keep playing every few games though, hahahha

3/11 GDT: Bruins @ Red Wings

We need more new guys like you. And then we need some enforcers to take out those who have hit the panic button way too many times. Marcus, Rabia, HC, Heroes of Hockeytown, harold, Crymson.... it's time to get to work.

    White Jerseys at Home

They do look better in red. I like the white jersey a lot... but still, the red? It grabs you. Additionally it makes the Wings look 180% more kickass. Besides, in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, who wore a white jersey? Wait, no one? Precisely. It was an old time red Gordie Howe on Cameron's back. It's proof right there. Red wins.

    #5 and league-wide respect

One of the tough (but still somewhat wonderful) things about having a star, hall of fame calibre player on your team is that you are forever doomed to no access at looking at him through the eyes of a team that can only view him from afar. Subsequently this vantage point - while giving you a closer-look at the guy over the years - does take away one valuable thing: the outsider perspective that lets you know instantly just what measuring tape has been applied to him by the many, and how exactly he has been approved of and envied over. Absence in romance and friendships may make the heart grow fonder, but it also and more importantly makes you realize what you took for granted, and from that fact now see with more detail: the same can go for teams that simply never had that same thing in the first place. The league's got a poll on NHL.com for who's most likely to repeat on their trophy-earnings from last year, and while that poll's favoring Lids is pretty inconsequential to me, it reminded me of this fact: If you went around the league asking fans, and got the fans who didn't go around saying, "Yeah, Lidstrom sucks, send his ass back to the minors," you'd get this amazing eye-popping view of him even if you're already so well-versed on the Lidstrom 411. This in turn goes for many players who turn heads in all cities for their great play and good sportsmanship. I loathe the fact that being on the "inside" of some great players takes away that kind of outsider marvel, but I definitely ain't complainin' over having to put up with them.

3/10 GDT: Blue Jackets vs. Predators

Aww... I haven't seen that show, so I was out of the loop to it. I'm heading out, but dammit, pick up the slack Columbus! I know you're Ohio, and I know you can't help it, but do this this once and the state may be redeemed!
