These two just can't get enough of each other. 4 regular season games. GLI finals. CCHA final four. Season series is even at 2-2-1. State holds the edge at the Joe 1-0-1.

I'm a center in my beer league but I'm not above putting on the pads for drop-in. I think the fewest goals I ever allowed was 10. Earlier this season our regular goalie was out and I couldn't find a replacement. I called 9 guys before I said screw it and decided to do it myself. I showed up at the rink on game day and a couple of players asked who I found for goal. I told them they were looking at him. The locker room went silent for a few seconds, then a couple of guys scrambled for their phones and started calling real goalies.

May 10, 1988. One of the darkest days in Red Wings history. The Red Wings win the Norris Divsion and roll through the first two rounds of the playoffs to meet Edmonton in the Conference Finals. The Red Wings are down 3-1 in the series when Bob Probert, Petr Klima, and some other players break curfew and hit an Edmonton strip club/bar the night before game 5. The Red Wings get crushed 8-4 the next day. Shortly thereafter Illich cleans house and gets rid of the troublemakers but it busts up a pretty solid unit. The Red Wings won't make it back to the Conference Finals for seven years.

Sorry, man. Buffalo gets the Rangers game.
-
Probably has to do with the 15 starters out of the lineup.
-
I totally agree. It's my birthday Sunday and I've got the whole day planned. Get up. Go for a run. Light breakfast. Read the paper. Watch the game on the couch with a couple of beers and some chili. Possible post game nap. Head to the rink for a Sunday night beer league game at 5. Out to dinner after the game.

Williams played last night in a win against LA. 20:03 in TOI. He isn't going to let a little thing like a broke bone slow him down.

1. Penguins to Kansas City. 2. Detroit to Eastern Conference.

I was out on TSN.ca checking the injury list and the Oiler's Daniel Tjarnqvist is on the IR for an inflamed pubic bone. Sounds like he's got a feminine problem. Hope it's not serious.
-
Dear Daniel, I hope your manjina feels better. Love, Flip-check

You mean you get to watch Howard sit at the end of the bench. I highly doubt he plays in either game this weekend unless Ozzie gets shelled. They're playing the Blackhawks and Avalanche so there's not much chance of that.
-
Read the article. Howard was called up from GR to back Osgood.
-
This sounds pretty normal. I'm the same age as Dom and I have tightness in every muscle in my body whenever I play.
-
Detroit News is reporting Hasek and Chelios are out of the lineup tonight. Hasek has tightness in his thigh. Nothing serious. Chelios is just getting rest. Osgood will start in goal and Howard is up from GR as the backup.

The 80s and early 90s weren't that bad. We had Yzerman in his prime, some quality characters like Kocur, Probert and Snepsts, made the playoffs more often than not, and even made it to the Conference Finals a few times. It was fun hockey. Now the 70s, that was a miserable time to be a Wings fan. Per ESPN, Chicago averaged 15,568 per game in 2001-2002. That was 23rd in the NHL. This year they are averaging 13,218 per game, 29th in the NHL. I was living in Chicago at the time. There was definitely a buzz about that team but I wouldn't say they were wildly popular.

Hey, you do know that more teams get beat in the first round than any other round.
-
Those forward lines don't exactly instill a lot of fear in an opponent, but looking at what the Blackhawks have makes these guys look like all stars.
-
But Burke owned Holland last summer when he added Pronger. Holland's big summertime acquisition was Danny Markov.
-
Most of the Blackhawk fans I know have gone underground. They packed away their jerseys, gave up their season tickets, and publicly denounce the team but they secretly sneak down to the basement and listen to the games on the radio. They'll be back in full force when a) Wirtz sells the team or b) Wirtz dies.
-
It's not like he's stopped scoring. He got 16 assists in those 17 games.
-
Michigan got swept but MSU split. They lost 4-1 in South Bend but shut out the Irish at home 2-0.

NHL.com is now reporting the trade was for two conditional picks, one in 2007 and one in 2008. NHL.com

At least the price was right. I got no problem giving up a junior prospect and a conditional for a rent-a-player. If he washes out he hardly cost us anything.
