Yeah but Jason wiil give up 3 shorthand breakaway goals while he's out there manning the point on the pp.

I tried to find an old thread but didn't have any luck. All I remember is that everyone wanted to avoid Calgary and Anaheim and they were overjoyed when we hooked up with Edmonton.
-
Be careful what you wish for. I seem to remember that last year everyone was hoping for a first round matchup against the Oilers. Everyone felt we matched up well against them. That didn't work out so good.
-
They're not trying very hard. There is a 7 point gap between them and the #8 spot and they've only gone 4-4-2 in their last 10. Looking at the schedule, the Wings really need this one tonight. We've got a back to back road game tomorrow with Nashville plus an away game on Tuesday against Chicago. They're monsters at home but not so hot on the road.

Not to derail this thread but Jersey is a big market team. If they were the only team in that market they'd probably fill an arena twice as big and have a big fat television contract. The problem is that they are NOT the only game in town. You've got the Rangers, Islanders, and Flyers all within a couple hour drive and those teams already had established fan bases when Devils moved in. I lived in northern New Jersey and all the hockey fans I knew were rabid Ranger fans.

So Forsberg and Kariya are the big guns on the Predators now. Seems like the Avalanche tried that same thing in 2003 and that didn't work out so well.

Morrow had surgery in December to repair severed tendons in his wrist. They have no idea when he'll be back. Barnaby has been out of the lineup since early January with post-concussion issues. He temporarily lost sight a couple of times and is considering retirement.

Detroit leads the season series 2-0. They haven't played since November, though.
-
MSU's loss to Ferris is pathetic. I thought Comley had this team on the right track after last season but now I'm not so sure. At this point the only thing that is going to salvage the season is winning the CCHA playoffs.
-
Um, Dallas finished first in the Central Division both seasons.

Brown is a senior. Losing him is going to be tough. But the top 5 scorers on ND are all underclassmen (3 are freshmen). They are going to be a tough team to beat for the next few years unless you see a bunch of them turn pro early. I thought MSU played like crap this weekend. They were lucky to get 3 points. The Lergs saved their butts. Better shape up or they're not going to get an NCAA bid.

You can find a lot of reasons for Detroit's early exits but Lang wasn't one of them.
-
Lang was one of our top performers in the playoffs the last two years. Why would they want to get rid of him?
-
14-33-8. What a pathetic record. I remember when the Flyers added all those players after the lockout and everyone had them penciled in as their favorite to win the Cup. I guess that didn't turn out so good.

Wooohoo! I got mine as well. RBK has had these free ticket promos before. Seats are in the corners of the upper deck but you can't ***** too much about free tickets.

I hadn't played organized hockey in years but I joined a beer league when I was 38. My wife came to one game that first season and we got killed 13-1. I played like a pylon. She froze her butt off and said she wouldn't be back. Games usually start at 10pm so the kids never get to go. Since then, I've played about 200 games. Last year I had a rare Sunday afternoon game. Both kids asked to go so I talked the wife into it. My team came from behind in the third period to win 5-3. I scored the game winner. My kids were impressed. My wife was impressed. I'm no Gretzky, but I score my share of goals. This season I even scored one from behind the net by rebounding it off the goalie's ass. My teammates still talk about that one. But the one I'll remember the most is that game winner with my wife and kids in the stands.

I don't feel sorry for him at all. He's an AHL calibre goalie playing in the NHL. He's living the dream. Years from now he can bring his grandkids to a Red WIngs game, point to #5 hanging in the rafters and say, "I used to be teammates with that guy."
-
The Wings really didn't have a spot for him. The 2004 Wings were loaded up front and his ice time was down to nothing by the end of the season. Then the salary cap happened and carrying someone with his salary to play 4th line minutes became economic suicide. He was just odd man out.

I checked the schedule and Detroit's record in game 2 of back to back games is 3-5-2. Not good, but I did want to point out that 9 out of 10 were road games. The Red Wings are not exactly road warriors this year (15-11-3). I bet that record would look a lot better if some of these back to back games were at home.

The season series is 4-0-2 so we've picked up 10 of a possible 12 points against St. Louis this year. The domination continues tonight even with an AHL goaltender in the lineup because the defense will hold the Blues to 14 shots. Legace hangs tough early but eventually folds under the relentless pressure from Detroit and the Wings win 3-2.
-
Both these games are also part of the Winning Wednesday promotion. If the Griffins win, you win a free ticket to another Griffins game by redeeming your ticket stub at The Zone or at the Van Andel box office.
-
Hopefully Aflac hasn't met with an unfortunate accident. The Red Wings are on a roll at home. 10 straight wins. And they outscored Phoenix 14-3 in their first two meetings this season. There's no reason to think the domination won't continue. 8-0 Wings.
-
The problem is he's never healthy. He missed most of 2003-04 and all of 2004-05 with neck and concussion problems and in 2005-06 he had hand surgery and was out for the rest of the season. He's only played 92 games in the last 5 years.

I think those points pretty much guarantee a first round bye in the CCHA playoffs. ND is out of reach and it's going to take some help to overtake scUM but third is MSUs for the taking. Miami has a two point lead but they've only got 4 CCHA games left. MSU has 7.
