Another American about to win Tour de France

Lance Armstrong is possibly the best rider ever, but he was always an ass. There's lots of stories going around that he treated his teams like crap. Plus there's that whole dating a rock star thing and jet setting around the world like he's some sort of Hollywood celebrity. Not exactly someone I can identify with. Landis is a normal guy who's also pretty funny. Finally we got a champion for the people. Here's a pretty good article. American Cycling Grows Up (Sort Of)

The Wings are well on their way to a 100% swedish lineup.

    Griffins vs. Admirals series

Unfortunately no game 5. Griffs get swept. Well at least they made it to the conference finals.

    Griffins vs. Admirals series

I think they're taking lessons from the parent club. 78 shots this series. One lousy goal. Reminds me of the Detroit meltdowns against the Ducks, Flames, and Oil.

    Griffins vs. Admirals series

Griffins lose 4-0 in game 1. The game was closer than the score indicated. There were a couple of bad turnovers and an empty netter but besides that the game was very even. The Griffins owned the second period but just couldn't score. Let's hope to tie up the series Saturday. I'll be in attendance with my son.

    Ticket Info

I just checked with the box office and they've got tickets available Saturday in every section. Tickets on the glass cost $26. Lower bowl $21. Lower bowl corners $18. First 3 rows of upper bowl $16. Rest of upper bowl $14. If you buy today or tomorrow you can get extreme nosebleeds (last few rows of south corners) for $6.

All games are televised on B2 but it is pay per view. Some away games are on Comcast Local for free. Streaming audio is on WOOD Radio.

    Griffins/Moose Game 7!

Grand Rapids has come from behind to win a bunch of times this season so I knew they had it in them, but I thought it was all over when they went down 4-1. They're going to be talking about this comeback for years.

    Round 2 Starts Tonight

Griffins, Manitoba Ready To Brawl At least one of my teams made the second round. Grand Rapids led the AHL in offense. Mantoba had the league's second best defense. GR won the season series 5-2-0-1 but 5 of the 8 games this season went to OT. Go Griffins.

    Round 2 Starts Tonight

That's why I said RUSTY. A week off is generally not a good thing during the playoffs. If I was the Admirals coach I'd bring up an enforcer from the ECHL and tell him to start some fights during practice. You know... to keep the competitive juices flowing.

    Where are the fans?

I don't know why you guys expect sellouts night after night. These are minor league hockey teams and most of them are playing in multi-use arenas that are way bigger than any minor league team needs. If the arenas were built specifically for a minor league hockey team (usually economically unfeasable) you would probably see rinks about the size of a college arena like Munn (6470 seats) or Yost (6603 seats).

    Round 2 Starts Tonight

By the time the Griffins-Moose series ends, Milwaukee will have a week between playoff games. They'll be good and rusty for the next round.

    Round 2 Starts Tonight

Griffs take game 1 on the road in OT 5-4. Howard was awesome, especially in the third period when he stopped a couple point blank shots. Flaherty was horrible. He surrendered goals on the first three shots, got yanked, got reinserted into the game, promptly poked a puck into his own net, and then gave up the OT goal. That's five goals on only 20 shots by the Griffins.

    Round 2 Starts Tonight

I'm hoping for a game 7 so I can get to a game (my schedule has interfered so far) so I was happy with the split. The Griffins need to pick up a win in one of the next three to bring the series back home. By the way, Comcast Local will broadcast games 3 and 4 live.

    I would like your vote

I threw a vote your way but it looks like you are way behind. Sorry man.
  16. Just thougth I would let everyone know that tonight's game was picked up by Comcast Local. Since the Red Wings game doesn't start until 9:30, it might make for a nice pregame diversion. griffinshockey.com

What channel are the Griffins on?

When I moved to GR I was surprised how little coverage the Griffins get. I previously lived in Chicago and I think all the Wolves games are televised. But I have to look on the bright side. I can watch all the Red Wings games I want while Blackhawks fans get the shaft.

What channel are the Griffins on?

Very few Griffins games are televised. You can pick up about 6 games a year on WXSP and Comcast Local shows an occasional game. That's about it. You can watch the games streamed over the internet from the B2 networks but it's pay per view. Check out the multimedia links on www.griffinshockey.com.
  19. Twice As Nice Manitoba broke the Griffins 11 game winning streak Saturday, but the Griffins were probably hung over after celebrating winning the division and conference title the night before.

    Griffins Win 10th Straight

The Griffins won their 10th straigth game yesterday, setting a franchise record. They also wrapped up home ice in the playoffs. griffinshockey.com

    Playoffs?

They're going to be hard to beat the way they are playing right now. I expect a trip to the conference finals at least. I have not seen any information on post-season ticket sales. They're not going to know dates, times, or opponents for a while so I doubt we hear anything before April at the earliest. I wouldn't worry about tickets selling out. I've been to a couple of Griffins playoff games and tickets are easy to come by.

    Donald MacLean Buries #47

Nobody Does It Better Way to go. There's over a month left in the season too so it's probably safe to say he's going to add a few more to that record.

    great game lastnight 2/4/06

When the Griffins make the playoffs, Joey is definitely the starter regardless of what other goalies are on the roster. He's the current starter and he's got the playoff experience. The backup goalie probably won't see anything but mopup duties in blowout games. I am interested to find out why you think Drew is such an upgrade over Howard as the backup during a playoff run? Neither one has ANY playoff experience in the AHL. In fact, you have to give Howard the big edge when it comes to experience plaing big games considering his experience in the NCAA Tournament and Hockey East Championships.
