I just wanted to give everyone a heads up. The annual Great Skate returns to Rosa Parks circle on Saturday January 12 at 10pm immediately following their game against Peoria. Every Griffins player and coach will take turns skating with fans over the next 24 hours. They will also have a raffle, warming tent, fire pits, and free refreshments. The annual event is a fund raiser for the Griffins Youth Foundation. I haven't seen the player schedule yet but I will post it when I get it.

A powerhouse Montreal team? Losing to one of the perennial worst teams? I think you are confusing the mid 1990s with the mid 1970s. In 1995-96 the Canadiens were 3 seasons removed from their last Stanley Cup and were coming off a 18-23-7 season where they finished in 6th place in the Northeast Division. They only managed a 40-32-10 record and barely made the playoffs. They were clearly a team in decline. In 1995-96 the Red Wings were working on their third straight Central Division title and posted a 62-13-7 record. Most victories in NHL history. The previous year they made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals. They were clearly a team on the rise.

Especially since they will be a few players short. The loss of Jonal Saint-Dic and SirDarean Adams is going to make an already suspect defense even worse. Things are not looking good for my Spartans.

Zetterberg, Holmstrom To Miss Road Trip

MSU has sent players in the past but no one made the team this year. I think the major reason Michigan sends so many players is the National Team Development Program is based in Ann Arbor and they tend to fill out their roster with local players.

Are the Hawks on the rise? They had nowhere to go but up. They are still terribly inconsistent and will be lucky to make the playoffs.

I don't think the Spartans lose anyone. I did a quick check of the US and Canadian rosters and I didn't see any MSU players.

Bump for GLI. Friday December 28. Providence vs. Michigan 4pm. Michigan State vs. Michigan Tech 8pm. MSU has won the tournament 6 times in the last 10 years and are defending GLI champs and National Champs. UM is currently ranked #1 in the nation but haven't won the tournament since 1996.

I had the game on in the car and the and Kaiser and Figurski were bitching about the lack of offense after the first period. It's nice they came back to win but those guys are right. Scoring is still a problem. They've got to find a way to score more goals, or get some players who can.

It's a 37% raise over last season. I'd do cartwheels if my boss gave me a 37% raise.

They're paying him peanuts right now (800K). He's probably going to want a raise. How about 1.1M a year for 3 years?

We discussed these helmets on these boards before. I tried finding a link but Search failed me. Long story short. You have to make them yourselves. Here's where you can get the hard hat. I found the goal light itself on eBay. You have to figure out how to put them together.

They're not trading Elias. They just gave the C to someone else this season. Some guys play better when they got less to think about and Elias is one of them.

I would love this schedule but the one they approved is definitely a step in the right direction.
