No word on tonight's starting goalie, but I bet they go with Howard. Coaches will make a game time decision whether Don MacLean plays. Griffins won the season series 6-2. Here's a series preview.

The first was a point blank shot off a rebound and the second was a snap shot from the top of the circle that somehow snuck past Fleury. Both were more luck than skill. Don't get me wrong. I've been watching Abdelkader since his days at MSU and I believe he has a future with the Red Wings. I just think he's a few seasons away from reaching his potential. Right now the NHL game is a little above his ability level.

I've got no problem with adding Abdelkader to the 4th line for some energy, but you better not count on him scoring many goals. He only had 3 in 50 games the last time he was up with the club.

Yes, he's Ryan's younger brother. He's also cousins with Kip, Kelly, and Kevin Miller who played a combined 2000+ games in the NHL.

I was stuck at work so I thought I would listen to some hockey. I went to the NHL.com scoreboard couldn't find audio links to the games in progress. When did this happen? I've been listening to games through NHL.com for years. They did have video links, but there's a fee.

NHL gamecenter costs $159 a year. I'm not saying I'm cheap, but.... well, yes, I'm cheap. The audio links used to be free.

The Red Wings dropped game 1 against Carolina in 2002 (3-2 in OT) but took the series in 5.

WKZO doesn't carry Red Wings games this year.

Another option might be WIND 560 out of Chicago. Not sure if you can pick that up in Holland or not.

WBBL and WEFG are the radio affiliates but some of the Red Wings games are preempted by Tigers baseball or West Michigan Whitecaps baseball this time of year and both teams play tonight.

Detroit only had 3 goalies in 2006-07. Hasek started. Osgood backed up Hasek. MacDonald was called up when either Osgood or Hasek got banged up. They usually played him on back halves of consecutive games. I checked the stats and MacDonald played 8 games with a 1-5-1 record, a 3.46 GAA, and .872 SVP. Detroit let him go on waivers to Boston in February.

I recently heard an interview where they said Osgood has a backup supply of the older style mask including a couple they got off e-bay. They don't make that style any more and Osgood wanted enough to last the rest of his career.

Joey MacDoald was a callup from Grand Rapids. He only played a handful of games with Detroit. He is currently playing for the Islanders. Yeah, Knuble's a local boy but he went to U of M so there's no way I can get along with him. His number is retired at Kentwood Ice Arena. I have to look at that damn banner evey time I play there.

I hate shootouts.... I hate 4 on 4 OT..... I hate ANY OT during the regular season.... I like ties... Of course, I turn 44 next week so I am officially an old man... I hate kids playing on my lawn, too....

Kopitar has 50 points this season and he's still -15??? I guess we know who's NOT getting the Selke this year.
