The team right now is quick and hard working. The complete opposite of Franzens game at this stage in his career.

Howard was the reason the Wings pulled that one out. The team was pretty flat and not sharp for most of the game. Couldn't handle the NY forecheck. A wins a win though.

No Quincey and no Hank for half the trip. Would have been happy with 6 pts but to pull out 9 is pretty damn good. Sounded like Ken and Ozzie did

Nash was more physical but Detroit had the better chances. Helm out. They said upper body but I can't remember a specific incident.

SJ was pretty entertaining outside the first 20 but I do agree this has been a good game.

I wouldnt say robbed in LA. They played great defensively but really didnt muster any grade A scoring chances. It was a pretty easy night for Quick.

Difference in the game is one team is getting elite goaltending and the other is getting a lump of crap.

Strong defense and good tending. Detroit never really created anything offensively in terms of top notch scoring chances. Really all I can recall was Gus early in the 3rd putting it right into Quicks glove and Weiss somehow flubbing an open net. Powerplay looked like the 30th ranked one and not the first.

The issue with that statement is your assuming the rest of the Wings team in that time are valid Cup contenders and the mix of them and Howard are what prevents them from winning. Thats just simply not true as the team hasnt been a valid contender for 3-4 years. There wasnt enough talent regardless of who was in net. Remember people said the same thing about Osgood and look how that turned out.

I think your forgetting that Mrazek was pulled in 3 of his last 8 starts. Thats not rock solid and then a stinker every now and then. Howars better GAA and save % also proves that "subpar" every night is better.

Dude can pick his spot and hit it. Everyone knows hes going to skate to the hash and rip it. Doesnt mean you can stop it. He does what I wish the Wings would do. Stop with the dangles and just pick a spot and hit it.

Does Howard suck in the shootout....hell yes. But to say with another goalie the Wings would have won all those shootouts is just flat wrong. People forget that the Wings are one of the worst teams at converting there shots in the league.

He was the teams MVP the first half of the season so thats pretty good for a poor excuse for a goalie. Your going to have to put up with him for quite a few more seasons.

Should have been two points. Im one of the bigger Howard supporters here but man there is no defending him tonight. Those first two were straight atrocious. Cant do much on the third since Kronners ass was in his face which seems to be becoming a trend. Datsyuk was a man among boys tonight. Still 5 of 6 pts halfway through the toughest trip of the season. Will take it. Worst part of the night was having to listen to the Ducks broadcast on NHL network. s*** those guys are just plain terrible.

Exciting game. Not sure I would say the most exciting of the season. That s***tsburgh comeback was pretty damn good.
