Marchenko recalled from GR... Ouellet sent down
GoalieManPat replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Yeah Lash on waivers and Ouellet down for Marchenko. My guess is they are seeing if Marchenko can compete in the NHL. If he can I see that giving them the confidence to move Kindl. -

Maple Leafs tears are so sweet -
Plain and simple Mrazek shat the bed. Team had the better of the play in the first. TB scored in the last minute which they never really recovered from.
-
I agree that shootouts are dumb. Its not all on the goalies though. The team itself is terrible at them. Goalies cant stop anything and the forwards cant score. That sounds amazing about now
-
Ya take my word for it was bad. Dont watch highlights later or risk the chance of vomiting lol.
-
As long as Petr and the team uses it as a learning experience and comes back hard against the Islanders this game can give some benefit.
-
I dunno. That 5th goal. A non scoring Dman floats one fromt he blueline. No screen. It almost looked like he completely wiffed on catching it. You know its a bad night when your comparing what was the worse goal against.
-
It wasnt that good of a rip. You expect goalies in this league to stop it every time. It was right down the middle with no screen so he saw it all the way.
-
So your proving my point for me. This team is good enough to win games when a goalie plays bad. Get the All Star back and they are good.
-
With a competent goalie in net they are. Unscreened from the point. THe goals just keep getting uglier. Bishop might be able to beat him from the other end now.
-
Those who know the skill of our other goalies never wanted him gone lol
-
Uhh....no screen from top of the circle and right at him? Stamkos or not that is a bad bad goal. Had Stamkos picked a corner maybe you could make a case for it but he put it right into Mrazek and he let it go by. Two on one was the same thing. Had they passed it over for a tap in then no its not on Petr but in that instance his job is to take the shooter. He failed at making a save on again what wasnt a very good shot. The kid is struggling. That works
-
I dont think he really has stepped up. If anything hes taken a step back from how he was playing last season. The offense has been the main reason for the run the last 3 weeks.
-
Defense is fine. The team is one of the best at holding the oppositions shots down. The problem is right now the goaltender is not stopping anything that does get through. Goals 3 and 4 should be easy pickings for a guy in the NHL

His entire seasons GAA between GR and Detroit has been mediocre at best.
-
This stretch of games has pretty much proven Mrazek is not ready. They were winning despite him. Looks like a rookie. Hopefully in the long run this struggle makes him stronger. Soft goals and when he is making a save the rebound always seems to be kicked out into a prime scoring spot.
-
I feel this team plays better without him. Laziness is a cancer that spreads easily. Best to cut it straight out.

Born in Canada or not the moment he was born he was an American due to his mother. An American is an American in my book and if you wear the US sweater in an international game your definitely American. I agree with your top 3 but I say its Chelly and Modano and then Hull lagging a bit behind. Hull was an amazing finisher but he really needed playmaker to be at his best. He wasnt the fastest and not the best in his own zone. Modano though wasnt as good of a pure goalscorer but his all around game (speed, scoring, passing, defensive play) was far superior. Its like comparing Ovechkin to Datsyuk.

Clutch isn't just making saves in the last 5 minutes. Clutch goaltenders make those important saves through the whole game. Mrazek is the future for the organization and I am excited about his potential but he looks like a rookie which is what he is. Hes not winning games for the wings and hes not losing him. Hes basically an average goaltender right now which ironically everyone accuses Howard of being. Since taking over for Howard hes only held a team below two goals once, has a gaa at 2.5 and a save% just over .900. Those are average numbers. If you look at his numbers in GR and the Wings this year it has been statistically his worst season as pro so far. Luckily the Wings offense has been on fire for him. Its basically the Gus effect last year. Gus was good but for some reason the Wings scored almost a goal a game more for him. Hes doing a great job of doing just enough to keep this role going but the Wings really need Howard back if they want to finish the season as a top 3 seed. You only have to look at how bad the PK has dropped off to see the difference between Howard and Mrazek in net right now.
-
You cannot compare the two right now. One is playing against boys in college and the other is playing professionally against grown men.
-
Well those clamoring for Mrazek to be #1 for the last two seasons be careful what you wish for. Mrazek hasnt been bad this year but he also hasnt been game stealing which Jimmy has been. This could be an issue with how many close games Detroit has been in this year if Jimmy is to miss significant time. God forbid something happen to Mrazek. We all remember what happened the last time McCollum saw NHL action.
-
There wasnt much in the hit to suggest its not some type of head injury. Didnt grab a shoulder or chest or anything. Got his bell rung.
-
That statement though pretty much sums up whether he is going to get a chance from Holland. It took a rash of injuries to get those guys in last year. It would take a rash of injuries to get someone up this year. This is a mans league remember.

Seems like everyone is acting like the Wings got skunked 8-0. Yes the final was not flattering but it was padded with two EN goals. For 50 of the 60 minutes the Wings were the better team by quite a bit. The one reason they lost is because Miller played out of his mind last night. When one of the hottest goalies in the league has that performance you just have to tip your cap and move on. They played ok and far better than the Boston game. I will agree that though that Franzen is lazy and he sucks.

When the wings shooters actually start scoring consistently in the shootout then blame can be put on Howard. Just in general this team is terrible at shootouts. With scoring and goal-tending.
