Nope. Two years hes proven he cant stay healthy. What good is a backup who cant stay healthy even when playing limited games. As others have stated Monster played above himself the two months of the season. After the turn of the year he was pretty bad. Mrazek is up next year as backup. Hes done his time in the AHL. He backups primarily next year, plays about 10 more games the next, and then it becomes decision time between him and Howard. Patterson will be moving up to GR next season to take Mrazeks spot. The Wings best course of action is to find a good vet 3rd goalie whos willing to play in GR.

This would be true if Franzen actually used his size. Franzen plays like hes 5 foot 6. You do realize if he hadn't completely disappeared for the last month and a half of the season when the team needed him most they wouldn't have been an 8 seed. Nyquist hot streak was what really got the Wings in the playoffs. Its not just that Franzen wasnt producing points. He wasnt doing ANYTHING on the ice that could be considered productive.

This has been said the past two or three years. Nothing has changed. Come late August the big signing will be Dan Cleary and Quincey will have gotten a new 4 yr/ 4 mill per contract.

Ill agree that Smith might have had his best game of the series. Quincey though was his typical below average self. He had two great chances where even as a Dman he should have converted one. Add to it that he let Marchand skate right by him on the open net miss instead of playing an ounce of defense.

Not really. The only time a play determines the outcome of a game is if its in OT. Anytime else theres time for the players to make an impact on the result.

So the Wings arent fast and werent confident? Are you serious?? The Wings had tons of confidence coming into this series after taking 3 of 4 from Boston. You blame Howard for the goal but are giving the rest of the team that played worse than him a free pass in those games?

Its not like E just had a simple break. His finger basically disintegrated give the guy a break geez. If he could play he would be. Franzen would be more effective in the press box. No passion, no leadership, no scoring. He is a waste.

Blaming an entire game on that single play in the first period is naive. Wings played well for 8 or so minutes and then Boston took over for the next 52. Wings struggle to play hard for 60 mintues. Would have happened eventually. Especially with them being the better team.

Gus played good. He played Rask even. Rask was better the first half and then Gus was better the second half. Marchand was the one that kept the game close. Not anyone on the Wings.

Thats the only exits the Wings game nowadays.

How quickly you forget that the only reason the Wings had momentum was his play in the 1st game. Gus played well but this game should have been 5-2 had Boston hit open nets.

Right there. Id sit him next game. Boston is a heck of a lot more physical at home and Id rather have him back next year with a working back over playing against Boston with only a slim chance of moving on.

The Bertuzzi line saw way to much time in OT. I know you like to say you want to run four lines but when you need that next goal that s*** line shouldnt be touching the ice unless another gets stuck in long shifts.

If only the Wings had someone with offensive talent in Abs spot this game would have been over in the first minute of overtime.

The 40 minute Wings showed up again.

Not really. He let Marchand go right by when he screamed the empty netter wide.

Quincey playing his stellar D and Marchand bailed him out.

That would be everybody...including his own parents.

Tatar is getting thrown around like a small child all series.

A goal against Kindle and Lashoff...no ways!! God I hate them both.

The wings need more guys having kids this series. Leads to goals.

Wings biggest issue the past two years is not being able to play a full 60 minute game. Hopefully they dont slow down today.
