Mrazek was good. He surely wasn't the reason they lost. I agreed with Mickey when he said he was the #1 star regardless of the result. To say the 2nd goal was a perfect shot and not a weak goal against isn't correct. Mrazek has a habit of making himself way too compact when he gets deep in his net. This leaves quite a bit of open space. Just look at all the space he afforded on the goal. That being said the reason we lost last night was because DD is playing like you expect a guy who never got drafted to play and the PP is horrible. Yes the PP did get the first goal but I have never seen a 4 on 3 overtime PP look as bad as it did last night. The game should have been ended then and never gotten to the point where it was in the refs hands to miss a call. On another note. Holy crap Mom. Ive never seen you like that. Comprehension isnt a strong point ehh. Ive said it multiple times. I dont wish them to lose. I go into every game hoping they win. If they should lose though I am not upset because its good for the future. I dont see how you read that as hoping they lose. Being ok with it and hoping are two different things.

Do I hope they lose? No I dont. I go into every game hoping they win. But Im also a realist and can see that they are not a good team so if they do lose it just sets them up for a better building block for the future. I can see that doing everything they can to keep the streak going the last 4 years has done nothing but hurt the future of the franchise. Had they just accepted a rebuild years ago this team would be in a much better spot.

Because we enjoy watching our team play and will accept a couple hard years to set the team up to be a true contender again. This 4+ years of trying to rebuild on the fly has shown itself that its not going to work and actually hurts the franchise in the long run. The highest payroll in the league for a team that plays uninspiring most nights and has very little top young talent. You need to build in through the draft in the salary cap NHL and cant rely on getting lucky in the 5th+ rounds like they did for Dats/Hank generation. You need those franchise players drafted in the top 10

That would be horrible. If he goes on LTIR there is no chance he has played his last game. He needs to come back and play at the level he was at previously. Outside of Vanek a healthy in form Howard is Detroits best asset to trade. If hes on LTIR and doesnt get a chance to get back nobody will trade for him before the deadline or this off-season and the likelihood that Vegas takes him gets lower. Howard needs to be back this season playing well. If not Howard will be in a Wings uniform next year.

How can he buy? This team has no space and the guys that could create space have no trade value? If he buys at the deadline he needs to be fired the following day. And what exactly would a slipping into the playoffs do exactly for this team? Nothing. A loss in 4 or 5 games does nothing but continue to decay the roster. We have seen this the last 4 years of just sneaking in. This team needs top notch youth. The type you get high in the draft.

They shouldn't bring him back. They especially shouldn't on a "lucrative" contract. The team will be up against he Cap again next year and have 12 RFA's coming the next 2 years including Mrazek, Mantha, and Larkin. Both Vanek and the Wings accomplished what they wanted with this deal. Vanek has proven he can still play in the league and will earn himself one last good payday somewhere else and the Wings got an asset for virtually nothing that they can flip to help rebuild. Vanek will be old and gray before this team is a contender again. No sense having him hold up a roster spot for a young guy. What Holland needs to do instead of resigning Vanek is to go out and find the Vanek of next years free agents. Someone he can flip at next years deadline for more picks. That would be a better use of cap space.
