Glad Blake Wheeler made the team over a perennial 30 goal scorer.......... Key to the game was the defenses of each team. Canada's defense is good enough to pressure the US attackers. They couldnt get open for more than an instant. US defense wasn't good enough and gave Canada open ice all game. Kane was a major disappointment this tourney. For how much he seemed to have the puck he did very little positive with it. Other than Kessel id say Carlson was the best player for the US this tourney so far. Kids having a coming out party.

NHL players are not being paid any extra for the Olympic break so your statement there is just false. They are making the exact same money regardless of it being an Olympic year. The owners can bugger off about the Olympics. They were more than willing to completely cancel a season and a half worth of revenue in the past 10 years yet would complain about a two week break every four years?

Spoken like someone whos never gotten the shot to represent there country in something. To most athletes (especially those from Europe) representing ones country is the highest honor. Yes even more so than the Stanley Cup. Hank owes nothing to the Red Wings or Red Wings fans. He has the life he has because he worked his ass off not because the Wings gifted him a paycheck. He helped bring a Championship and almost a second to this city when the team was supposed to be in transition. If anything the fans owe him for the joy hes brought them. He's earned the right to put Sweden over the Wings. I dont know what fantasy land your in but the Wings are not contenders this year. Sweden on the other hand was a contender for a Gold Medal. Common sense dictates which one he should go for at the end of a career. Challenging his loyalties because he went and played in the Olympics is just disrespectful for a guy whose battled for over 10 years for the Wings and its fans. Get over yourself. Yes because carrying this team on his injured back the past couple months is not worth your respect.

During the 2010 final you had bars packed with non hockey fans watching the game. Having the games held closer to normal US viewing times helped but who cares were the games are held. The Olympics are for the whole world not just the north american tv audience. They could just as easily get hurt and miss the rest of the season while playing for Detroit as they can for there country. The they could get injured excuse is BS. A player could cut there finger making dinner, get in a wreck on the way to work, etc. Theres always a chance a player could get hurt in there normal lifes. Should owners put all players in a bubble when they are not on the ice for said team to prevent injury?

Darkhorse teams usually have a strong defense and get lucky with everyone staying healthy. Those are two things this team does not have right now.

Whats wrong with South Korea? They were co-host to the 2002 World Cup (an event which is more of an undertaking than the Olympics) and put on an amazing event. All in all if a player wants to play in the Olympics the NHL cant do a damn thing to stop them. Sure they can suspend the player but all they would need to do is pull a Kovalchuk and head to the KHL for probably a better contract. Hell if the player is good enough they could just ride out the suspension and know that with talent at a premium in the league right now at some point the original team or another team will take a chance on them. The league wasnt as heavily influenced by European players back then as it is now. Europeans put quite a bit more stock into international competitions than North Americans do.

No he got scratched last game after his terrible penalty in OT against Washington. Im predicting 4-2 Florida. All the other games the Wings should have won against them Ive picked the Wings so Im switching it up to send some bad joo joo to Florida.
