They are basically the same player. You can say Eaves has the better offensive potential but he hasnt really cashed in on that potential in 7+ years since his 20 goal rookie season. Since then they are both equal points wise. I see Miller as a slightly better defender. The big monkey on Eaves is that head injury. Once someone has a major one like that the chances of the smallest hit getting him again is far larger than that of Miller. I think Holland made a decision between the two when he resigned Miller. Either way I dont see either of them having a role with the team in two years.

Bert, Sammy, and Cleary are fine on your list. I wouldn't include Weiss. Sure hes a vet but hes a vet in his prime being only 30. Bert, Sammy, and Cleary are washed up vets on the wrong side of 35. I believe Weiss was a lot more hurt the first half of the season than was let on as he wanted to play and prove himself to a new club. Its worth holding off judgement on him for a while still before you could throw him in with the other 3.

Vancouver is a team in trouble but that is dangerous for this Wings team as they seem to play down to the oppositions level. Hopefully Gus finds his game again like he was early in the year as Ive got the feeling the legs are going to be quite tired on the Wings side. Important two points as we cant expect the Wings to get anything from Florida. 3-2 Wins is my prediction. Great GDT graphics. Franzen isnt sitting out because he wants to get himself healthy for the Wings. Hes sitting out because hes not healthy enough to play the sport altogether. My opinion is the reason Franzen came back to early was because he wanted to get games in before the Olympics. If Dats went out and suffered a worse injury in the Olympics and won no medals Id say bad luck Dats but at-least you experienced something so few people in history get to. Him being healthy is not the difference between a Cup and no Cup. This team is not a contender. Sure they might squeek into the playoffs and upset someone in round one but they are not a contender to go deep. And he sure as hell can tell the Wings to shove it. Ask the Devils how being in a union and under contract kept Kovalchuk from doing the same to them.

Possibly win a gold medal in your home country as captain or stay home and rest for a team that even IF they find a way to get a healthy lineup is more than likely 1st or 2nd round fodder?? Hrm thats a pretty easy decision right there. Everyone here would kill for that chance to do what Pav has in front of him. Pav has done enough for this organization the last 12 years that he should be able to do whatever he wants in this situation and we as fans should support him. As an employee he has every right as we do with our jobs to tell his employer to stick it where the sun dont shine if they dont like his decision or try and persuade him to stay. Using the employer comes first logic then Babs shouldnt go either. That time off would be better focused on him figuring out what to do with this shamble of team he has than coaching Canada. Pav has made enough money Im sure this weighs very little into his decision. If if does play into it then guess what, him leading his country to Olympic gold will earn him well over 6.7 million the rest of his life.

By rules in that instance no contact is allowed. Smith has to know any contact in that situation will send him to the box. Refs will always put a team on the powerplay over letting a call go that directly leads to a game winning chance. Has always been that way. Why is anyone surprised by it?
