You create your own luck. Rangers outshot and had the better of the scoring chances. They earned there lucky bounce. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Helm has barely played in two seasons. Not enough rest after an injury isnt a problem. The problem is only having one true NHL scorer in the lineup right now. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Jurco missing an open net was an early indication of how this game was going to go. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Been an entertaining game but man Ozzies commentary is really poor today. It hard to stomach listening to the same comments over and over. The wings really need to find a quality color guy for the road. Not just some old player. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Why is there another Fil topic? The guy is gone people get over it. Sure hes been good for 44 games. Guess what..the 44 games before that he was horrible. Which is the real Fil?

Pretty much my line of thinking. The only saving grace they have is Hiller. Hes a goalie that can put a team on his back when his game is on. The problem is you never know if he can stay healthy anymore.

Its nice to think of them all progressing to be top NHL playoffs but odds are one maybe two of who you listed become impact players. Even Mrazek who has shot from junior to NHL quicker than any wings prospect recently is no sure bet. Steve Mason sure looked good when he was Mrazeks age and look what happened. Sheahan will be nothing more than a 3rd line grinder at best. Those years at ND really stalled his offensive progression. For being a 1st round pick his development has been a bust. Pulk and Jarnkrok look good but the NHL is a whole different world. Look at Nyquist. He was tearing up the AHL the last two years. He was supposed to be the offensive savoir this year. He had 3 good games and has since been really slumping. So while I agree that the prospects you listed are enticing (save for Sheahan) the realistic view is we would be lucky if even 2 become impact players that "save" a franchise from rebuilding years.

I see them as the Sharks v2. Great regular season team but underwhelming come playoff time. They had a great game tonight but barely beat a pretty poor Wings lineup a couple days ago. I see them as probably the 3rd or 4th best team in the West.

Franzen having trouble processing information
GoalieManPat replied to Son of a Wing's topic in General
PCS and other brain diseases are from the cumulative damage. The actual concussion itself is from a single trauma which causes the brain to strike the inner walls of your skull causing bruising. 10000 tiny hits dont accumulate into a concussion. It can lead to other issue but not a concussion. You need that one heavy trauma. -

The difference is that Crosby was completely nailed when he suffered that concussion. Franzen was barely touched. He even said so in the article saying it wasnt much of a hit. If something that slight of a hit can give him such nasty concussion effects the guy should be nowhere near a contact sport like hockey. Im the last to downplay a players head injury. From youth to college ball I had 5 documented concussions and 2-3 I never told anyone about since I didnt want to stop playing. I no longer play a couple recreational sports because of it. My concern is these "concussion symptoms" comes at the perfect time for Franzen. The time of the year where hes said he is bored playing and finds it hard to find motivation. -
I doubt he will even come close to getting into the AHL. Rafs defensive game was slipping before he retired. Remember it was his turnover that basically lead to the series clinching goal against the sharks that year. I can see someone in there mid 20's comming back from 3 years off but not a 40 yr old. This game is going to come down to one person and thats Mr Howard. He will need to steal it. His recent play has me optomistic he can. Even if he plays solid this will be a tough one. The Wings need it to be 2-1 to win. Unfotunately I see it more likely going 4-2 Sharks.

Youd think hed have been hit by a truck with how he described that. -
Playoff intensity hockey instead of duldrum of the regular season February hockey.....ya I hate it to..... Country > Club

Howard is more of a proven commodity than Bishop. Bishop has had a strong 4 months to coincide with Howards slump. Bishop hasn't proven that whats hes doing now isnt more than a hot streak. Howard has proven to be able to carry a team. If s*** hits the fan for team USA they want someone whos proven he can take a team on his back over a guy whos really only playing consistently strong hockey for the first time in his career.

gdt 1/1 Winter Classic 2014 GDT: Maple Leafs 3, Red Wings 2 (F/SO)

Yeah thats not true at all. The correct thing to say was he sucked in the shootout. The first 65 minutes he was strong. -

I guess we just agree to disagree. The one thing we do agree on was Bert was horrendous. My wife made the comment that it looked like he was skating against the wing whichever way he was going. -
Gave Jimmy a 50/50 shot at making the team with his numbers this year. In reality they got the goalies right. Miller, Quick, and Howard are the best 3 American netminders right now. There are some quite questionable other players on the roster. Jimmy is clearly #3 and Ive seen some say they wish he wouldnt have really made it because of that. I disagree. I think it can be a good thing for Howard. Had he not made he basically gets 3-4 weeks off. Sure the Wings will practice but it will be nothing like the US practices he will be involved. The fact that there is "always a chance" some fluke things happen and he will have to man the net will make him work harder and hopefully find his game more than vacation practices could have. He doesnt need extra rest. He needs games and intense practices to find his game.

Yes Dats was clearly invisible. Especially since he was the one who put the first chance for Cleary on a platter out front which Cleary flubbed. As well as being the only Wing who could consistently carry the puck into the Leafs zone while maintaining control and setting up the offense. Scored the only wings goal in the shootout. Yes I agree totally invisible. -

Sure wish Cleary would somehow stop being completely useless. 3 grade A chances completely wasted by him. -

Ive been one of the biggest Howard defenders on here this year. Tonight is the first night I can honestly say there is no defending his play. Giving up 5 goals to one of the worst offensive teams in the league. 3 goals you would expect a junior goalie to be able to handle with ease. Sickening. -

Well some are. You still have those with the standard "why do I even bother with this team" after every loss.
-
Exactly! Big issue here. Even my wife whos not the most knowledgeable on the players skillset mention "Why are Eaves, Cleary, and Kindl out on the power-play"
