I think you mean 2 world class center-man. I know we all love Helm but lets be serious he is a good NHL player but nowhere near world class.
-
I do agree he would have handled a couple of those better. Im not sure he makes the kick saves on Hartnel and Simmonds tho with his style.
-
People said that last year to. Then he was the main reason they beat Anaheim and took Chicago to 7. Funny huh
-
What experiment? He is this team starter for now and years to come. If the playoffs started today he would be in net.
-
Yes but you said he lets in stinkers and thus demoralizes the team and thats why the lost. Im asking which specifically was a stinker. If you cant really explain as being a stinker your argument holds no merit. Im not saying Jimmy cant play better Im saying throwing him under the bus as the reason they lost tonight is completely incorrect.
-
Actually he was making them all game. Philly had guys in his grill the entire night. At some point they are going to go in.
-
Im not saying Monster shouldnt be getting more starts. THe guy is playing well. Im saying you cant throw this entire game on Howard. Two of the goals have to go on terrible defense leaving men open. If your going to put the blame on a goalie for not "making a big save" on shots he cant see you have to put equal blame on the defense for not clearing those screens out. It cant be one and not the other.
-
Which goal of Phillys tonight qualifies as a stinker? Please explain.
-
Uhh the first and third goals were great shots he never saw due to screens. Those will go in 90% of the time on any goalie. The 2nd was a defensive breakdown that unfortunately slid under his pad. He had no shot on the 4th due to man left open on the back post. The only goal you can question on him was the Hartnell shot. Philly was the better team for most of the game other than when they took all the penalties in the 2nd. Detroit outshot Philly but Philly chances were all a heck of a lot better than Detroits. Mason really only had to make one big save. The rest were routine. I know everyone here loves to jump on the goalie but look at each goal individually and youll see that he had no shot on three of those goals. You just have to hope the puck hits him and he was in the right position they were just good shots.

Real good number for only coaching for just over a decade in the NHL. Im saying 3-1 Wings.

8.5 million a year despite never leading his team to any real success. Hrmm......

injured Zetterberg out at least 2 weeks with herniated disc

Knowing Z's back history I would be surprised if this is just a 2 week thing. -
Teams dont try and be over physical with the Wings anymore even though it never worked in the first place. Most teams now can match out outmatch the Wings in skill and that's how they beat them.

Damn lockout cost me a chance to attend events. Had the extra money last year but not this year. Ill be glued to my TV though. -
Agree with most of the ratings except for Cleary and Kronwall. Cleary I wouldnt even grade. Id mark him as sent to the principles office for never even showing up. Maybe they can convince him he actually did sign with Philly and gets on the team plane with them after tonights game. Kronwall while hes been good could be leading in defenseman scoring if he could get his shot back. I dont know what it is this year but every golden chance he is getting he is putting way over the net. If he could have finished better he would be up near 30 pts between more goals and more assists from rebounds caused by hitting the net.

100% disagree. You cant 100% say having a goon on the team would prevent anything. More than likely you would have had McCarty or Kocur getting a penalty the next game after going after Weber. Having a goon in todays NHL in no ways deters the cheap shots that are happening. Players dont fear goons. They know if they can get a goon into overreacting they will basically get a free powerplay. The only way McCarty or Kocur would have stopped Weber from doing this was if they were on the ice next to him and sucker punched him before he could grab Zetts. The instigator penalty essentially killed the job of the 2 minute ice time goon.

GDT 12/1 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Senators 2, Alfredsson scores ENG

Make sure you dont operate heavy equipment anytime soon as you are high as a kite if you really believe that. The 02 team had hall of famers on the 3rd and 4th lines. This team is still 1/3 spare parts from a junkyard. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2 -

I agree it happens sometimes. Monster cant control his rebounds 75% of the time. If he can get better at it the guys a legit starter in the league. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2 -

That was on monster. You expect an NHL goalie to cover that. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2 -

As strong as monster has been this year the guy never saves anything clean. Everything is a juicy rebound. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2 -
Ya but that doesn't excuse the act. Shanny not coming down on Weber is small compared to the act itself.

Yes that was the comment Ozzie made all game that was entertaining. I love Ozzie but hes just not cut out for the booth. Keep in on intermission analysis. The worst was when he mentioned Franzen needs to shoot more atleast 5 times in 15 seconds. He played a solid game tonight. If your expected him to put up points with Sammy and Cleary on his wings your sorely mistaken. Even Dats wasnt able to put up points with just one of those two on his lines earlier this year.

Shea Weber was more than happy he put Zetterbergs face into the glass. Therefore I am more than happy that piece of s*** took a puck to the face. Karma is a ***** ehh
