This post is full of fail. Yes the wings need to stop signing old vets but thats old vets like Cleary and Bert. Trying to validate your point using Alfredsson is even more fail. The guy is only out pointed by Pav and Z. He was brought in to be secondary scoring not lead the team. So common sense dictates that if hes only behind Pav and Z, who are expected to lead the team in scoring, then he is 100% fulfilling his job as secondary scoring. Keeping Brunner, he of 7 pts over half of which came in the first 3 games, and Fil would not have moved this team forward. They needed changes from a stale roster and at-least made an attempt at it. Please try again though.

Agreed. Honestly Monster wasnt that impressive tonight. Luckily he didnt face many chances. He still is kicking out way to many "Monster" rebounds.
-
I cannot remember any player being as invisible while playing with Datsyuk as Cleary.
-
Tatar showed hustle all night like he does most games although he did have one of those "rookie games" where no matter how hard they try nothing seems to go right. Everyone goes through it as a rookie.
-
I still think its 50/50 that Gus goes back down. Especially if they think there's a possibility they only have 5 dmen for Saturday.

Babcock is the king of hypocrisy. Says players need to earn there ice time yet moves his buddy Cleary to the first line. If he stays on it more than one period I hope Babcock is fired during the intermission. More than likely CLeary will pick up a secondary assist on Dats going coast to coast and Babcock will justify his move.

Is New Goal-Tracking Technology on the Way?

Yes.....over 4 years ago. Pro sports are a what have you done for me lately business. And when you compare the two Franzen has done nothing compared to Hossa. Exactly another case of Holland just plain making the wrong decision in the last five years.
-
Since taking Franzen over Hossa- Stanley Cups: Hossa-2 Franzen-0 Thats the only stat that matters. Hossa has been instrumental in two Cup championships. Franzen has been uninspiring in 1st and 2nd round eliminations.

I wouldbt be surprised but I think its more likely they both get less minutes than Cleary, Bert, Sammy, Miller, and Abdelkader.

You can respect someone while still questioning there job performance. I respect my employees but if they are failing at there job Ill still fire them.
-
The first goal he had no chance as on he never saw the puck. It was one of those that a goalie knows someone shot and they just hope it hits them. The 2nd one is not totally his fault. It was a unlucky bounce off the boards but he did seem to react a bit late on it.
-
I wouldnt say its a cold streak. Hes doing what he can with a bad team in front of him right now. He has more highs than lows in his career so he will break out of it. And the EA sports thing is BS. Its based purely on the box score. Not how someone is truly playing.

Cant throw everything on Babcock. He can only work with what Kenny is giving him.

Did not Monster not get hurt shortly after those games? And when your starter comes back from injury he goes back in net. The backup is not meant to "gain consistency" when your starter is healthy. You have to draw teams into penalties. The Wings rarely have consistent offensive zone time or odd man breaks. Thats where you see most penalties called when a team has been scrambling on D for over 30 seconds and are tired are or are trying to break up an odd man chance. On the flip side the Wings spend much more of the game in there own zone thus the penalties on them.

So will the Howard bashers who have been sceaming for Monster to play give him flack the same as they do Howard? The first 3 goals were the definition of weak. I love monsters atheticism but man he needs to find some consistant fundamentals in his game. Hes always flying around pulling himself out of position. Its like ues trying to be like Dom but Dom was still able to keep jis positioning while being unorthadox. Nice to see Francine waking up. The big question is if we wont see him again until January. Abdlkader seems to be regressing. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

By thus far do you mean the whole season or just the last two games? Ill agree hes been less than stellar the last two but to say hes been bad all year is just wrong.
-
Typical Detroit fan response. Wings lost so lets blame the goalie. Lets just disregard the fact the bottom two forward lines and bottom half of the D are AHL quality at best. Or that this team cant score in the shootout (come on Ive never seen a goalie have an easier time in the shootout than Holtbys 3 poke checks last night) let alone a clutch goal in OT. Lets just blame the goalie and turn a blind eye to whats really wrong with this team. If you believe Jimmy is the problem you don't know the game. Just conveniently forget that without Howards strong play the Wings would have 6-8 pts less this year so far. Im guessing your one of the people that believe Howard is s*** and the Wings should have Petr as the starter right now. The same Petr Mrazek who is curently being outplayed by Tom FREAKING McCollum in GR this year. Howard is an elite goaltender. He is the only reason the Wings made the playoffs last year and the only reason they got past the first round and took Chicago to 7 games. It doesn't matter how good your goalie is when half your team is s***e there will be nights they make the goalie look bad.

Filppula to Tampa 5 yr $5 million
GoalieManPat replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
Fil was always going to put up more points in Tampa, why are people so surprised by this? Especially now as the #1 center. He gets more ice time, more offensive line-mates, and a more offensive system. You also have to add in that Fil was saddled with Francine, Bert, and Cleary for a lot of last year. I dont care who you are when you have those boat anchors on your line its going to effect your scoring. -
Overtime modifications on table at GMs meeting.
GoalieManPat replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
While I agree that the shootout should go away and the 1 pt for a loss is just plain stupid I dont think the elimination of them will make teams play to win. It will back back to pre shootout days where teams played "not to lose" (especially in inter-conference games) as most teams are more afraid to make a mistake and give the other team an extra point than to go for the extra point themselves. The best thing that needs to happen is a win should be worth 3 points not 2. That will put more emphasis on winning in regulation. -
Jimmy Howard And Monster On Punishing Goalies For Instigating Fights
GoalieManPat replied to Namingway's topic in General
Jimmy needs to get into a fight. The modern day Wings haven't won a Cup without a goalie who has a fight on his record. Specifically he needs to start something with Roy the next time they see Colorado. If Roy and a wings goalie get into it then consider the Cup ours. -
Uhhhh yea...Id say the following video has more "brawl" in it than anything from that womans game

Never like to see anyone hurt (unless its Claude Lemieux). It does hurt Canada a little bit. Losing probably the top sniper in the world right now will hurt no matter how deep your team is but theyll have the depth to replace him. Hopefully he heals quick. Stamkos is one of my favorite guys to watch not on the Wings.
-
Probably not. If Edmonton can ever get there s*** together they have the makings of a powerhouse.

Hes already being that "little bit of clutchness" to even get the game to overtime. Howard has been money and yes the numbers do lie. With the amount of turnovers this team has which gift the opposition grade A scoring chances Howard is keeping this team in contention. How many odd man rushes does he face compared to the number the Wings generate. The odd mans against are easily in favor by 3 to 1 yet Detroit is still kept in the game. The last 4 OT games the Wings have lost (SJ, NY, DAL, and TB) his saves are the only reason they get those 4 pts. Heck he had a 65 minute shutout against SJ and still the team couldnt pull it out for him. This team does not need "more clutchness" from Howard. They are getting that. They need the other 16 skaters not named Datsyuk and Zetterberg to be more clutch.
