Weiss played like s*** but he still made a difference. Cleary played like s*** and got moved up to the first line and made no difference whatsoever.

So glad Holland panicked and just had to resign Cleary. He continues to look useless and Im sure Nyquist or Tatar couldnt bring some life into the team. Sarcasm aside the 3rd line and 2nd pp unit are borderline embarrassing. Comparing 2nd PP units of the other teams in the league Id say the Wings is bottom 7. The Franzen, Weiss, Alfie line is looking nowhere near as good as the first game. With two new players though I wont condemn them yet. Let them work things out. Bert needs to sit on the bench unless needed for shootouts. Canes got two freak lucky goals. So far it just seems like one of those nights where the hockey gods are against the Wings. They can change that by hard work but we shall see.

Why are you afraid? The kid is 19. Hes supposed to be tearing up juniors at this age for a 1st round pick. Its the natural progression of prospects. The kids development is not going to be stumped with another year in the Q. Its another year for his body to continue filling out which will make the transition to pro that much easier. Which is a major part of development.

Mrazek is already better than monster. Him being the starter in GR though will develop him more than sitting on the bench in Detroit right now. The best thing for young players is ice time. No matter where that is. No need to rush a good thing when we are already solid in net with Jimmy. Mrazek had a great first season in the pros. You don't want him having a sophomore slump in the NHL. That can sidetrack his progress.

If anyone thinks Tootoo would be a deterrent for any team doing to the Wings what happened in Toronto last night are really just kidding themselves. Lets be honest. Tootoo is willing to go with anyone in the league but hes far from what I would consider a heavyweight. There are very few guys in the league if any now that make players worried about running someone else. Guys like Probie and Kocur were deterrents. Tootoo isn't even at the McCarty level of an enforcer and even with McCarty Lids, Yzerman, and other Wings still got ran. Hell his best friend got ran into the boards and broke his cheek right in front of him. Having someone willing to fight means nothing in terms of injury prevention in the NHL these days. As for Tootoo himself I am generally a fan of his. I love the energy he brings to every shift. I just wish he was better hockey player. I wish he was a better skater, scorer, and passer so there would be no excuses to sit him but alas he is a fringe NHL player at best when it comes down to the skills of the game. Anything out of Hollands mouth is pure "GM speak". He might be fully trying to move Tootoo right now but will still say he expects to have Tootoo in the lineup. He probably has a general idea of what he wants to do in the next 7 days but in truth he has no idea how the roster moves end up will going. He might be forced to keep Tootoo so he wouldnt want to crush a guys confidence by coming out and saying hes actively trying to move him.

True Scott going after Kessel was a dick move but come on Phil. At-least act like you've got a set of testicles (not a joke about his battle with cancer). Ive got more respect for Alex Semin playing the bongos than I do for Kessel. Running like a scared teenager while taking shots at someones ankles. Then he goes and starts jabbing him with his stick while Scott is being held by a teammate and a linesman. I really wish the linesman would have just let go at that point. Kessel would have deserved the beating. Dont poke bears with a stick unless your wiling to get mauled. Same goes for poking no talent goons.
