Explain how he played bad in the 3rd tonight. A guy is left all alone out front with enough time to make a sandwhich, stickhandle, and shoot and puts it just inside the post. Then he makes the initial two saves on the 2nd while Smith is standing right there doing nothing to put off Bickell while he stuffs it in on the third attempt. Then he got beat on a good move on a penalty shot. If this is playing bad you have unrealistic expectations. Would you rather he be letting in shots like Anderssons goal tonight? Good lord. Watch the plays instead of looking at the box score and seeing 3 against in one period and automatically blaming the goalie.

The likes of Shaw and Bickel are more dangerous than Franzen, Fil, and Cleary. Cleary scores the odd goal but man does he kill so many plays with his brick hands. Franzen has turned into a complete ghost yet again. I thought playoffs were his time though. Nothing would make my summer complete than to see him bought out and shipped outta town. Smiths bipolar play continues to kill this team at crucial moments. As much as I will be pulling for the Wings I think I am more likely to win the lottery than they are to take game 7 in Chicago with no momentum.

Good win tonight. Wings were a bit to turnover prone like in Game 1 but were able to recover a lot better on them. Thought everyone had a solid game except Cleary who was shockingly bad. Thankfully he did come through in the end with the empty net. He missed an empty net in the 1st and completely blew two odd man rushes. He needs to step up.

So "if" he comes back for the start of next season that's not many games played in 20 months or so. To play his game of throwing his body around at high speed there's no guarantee he can get back to where he was. I hope he can but this is a long layoff and back injuries tend to always re-appear.

What your seeing is rookie mistakes. Yes something not seen very often on a Wings team that would rather sign 30+ yr old players than promote from within.

Havnt read through the full thread but my opinion on Cleary is this. Ive been extremely frustrated with his play the last 12 months. Atleast he still goes out and gives it 100%. The problem is his body has taken such a beating him giving 100% isnt translating into much. Thank you for your service and congrats on rebuilding your career but its time to hang them up. If Holland re-signs him this offseason I will have lost all confidence in his management ability.

Hossa was diving for the rebound not to get a call. All on the ref for a terrible call there. Watch it again he is launching forward well before any contact. And Franzen would have to work hard and beat a player to get in the position to dive. Thats a rarity.

And they wouldn't have gotten to a game 7 had they not been put together mid series. Hank and Pav work great. But like others say the rest of the lines aren't good enough to pick up the slack left when one goes to the top line.

Id love to see Tatar up with the Wings but correct me if Im wrong cant he not be called up until after the Griffins playoff run? Or unless someone on the Wings gets injured? I think Smiths confidence is shaken right now. I wouldnt mind him sitting a game to try and compose himself. Especially with the extra days rest between games 1 and 2 it might do him some good.

Puck gets stuck on the side of the net what do 95% of goaltenders do? They put there stick or glove over it to freeze it and get a faceoff which is what Howard was trying to do. He wasnt trying to flip it off the net like the idiot Edzo was saying. Chicago got in and broke it up and was able to get it out front. Its a perfect example of them out-skating and wanting it more than the Wings. Not homer goggles just what happened.
