I see where your comming from but there is one big difference. Back before when Hank and Pav were about to break into the team there wasnt the same amount of information available about prospects. Basically unless they were in the minors or a close by junior team you couldnt find any info on them. Now you can watch streams of prospects playing on the opposite side of the world and find any amount of info about them instantly.

GDT WCQF Game 3 GDT - Ducks 4 @ Red Wings 0 (ANA leads series 2-1)
GoalieManPat replied to FlashyG's topic in General
Its not the right call. The head has to be the principle point of contact. The principle point of contact was his body and then his head which = good hit. Also they called it charging. Look at he replay. Abby stops his stride well before making contact. The call was a joke. The ref was 5 feet away looking right at it and made no call. The ref at center ice made the call. -
Im impressed with them. The problem is I dont see the next Hank or Pav in the system right now. I see a bunch of good 2nd-3rd liners but not top 1st liners.
-
Good hit. Elbows in. Doesnt leave his feet. Bang bang play. Ejection is a joke.

Has everyone forgotten that this is a game. Games are meant to be fun. God forbid someone shows emotion because he might hurt the feelings of some delicate man on the other team. Celebrate all you want. As long as you are not directly skating to the other teams bench and taunting then who cares. This isnt golf. Its a sport fed by speed and emotion. And Tatar isnt showboating in an earlier post. Hes pumping the Wings logo. Showboating would be something like point to his nameplate on his back. Why do people keep using this as there go to Wings showboating clip.

GDT WCQF Game 1 GDT : Red Wings 1, at Ducks 3. (Anaheim leads, 1-0)

THe team got lackadaisical since Saturday. Almost seems like they need there backs against the wall to show any type of intensity. They needed wins the last two weeks and they played there best hockey of the season. If same is true for playoffs we wont see them show up until game 3 or worse down 3-0. -
1 beer period. Must be consumed by period end. For important games I break out the "Pats Lucky Baked Nachos".

Its "counted" for the last two weeks and weve seen how strong he is.

Tatar frustrated; says he will only play in NHL when contract done
GoalieManPat replied to evilzyme's topic in General
If Holland wanted Tatar in Detroit getting minutes he would be getting minutes. -
Lol now your just reaching to try and find some reason to hate on him. He has to play the shooter which is what he does. Guys on the side of the net need to be taken out by the defense which Kindl didnt do in the least bit. No way he gets over in time even if he plays for the pass. Only reason that doesnt go in is if the shooter misses the net or he puts it into Howard.

The Race for Eight: Blue Jackets, Stars, Wings
GoalieManPat replied to bardownginos's topic in General
4/20 @ Vancouver Loss 4/22 Phoenix 50/50 chance 4/24 Los Angeles Loss 4/25 Nashville 50/50 chance 4/27 @ Dallas Loss Hate to say it but with how this team is playing I see this happening. They need 3 of the 5 minimum. 4 of 5 would be best. I dont see them winning in Van and if it comes down to that last game in Dallas the Stars are just playing a lot hungrier and better now. They could pull out the LA game but Im thinking not with how much this team is not scoring. The killer is the Wings consistantly play down to lesser opponents the last couple seasons. Thats why I see them dropping either Nashville or Phoenix. Thats what will knock them out of the playoffs. In reality it might be the best thing. Some heat of the Wings brass to do something with this roster will help the team in the long run. -
Did Howard have a major bumble last night? Yes. Is it directly the reason the Wings lost? No. If you want to put the blame on Howard then you have to put as much blame on Ericsson for the 2nd goal which in no way was Jimmys fault, and Kindl for the first goal for that sham he calls defense allowing an easy back door tap in. Bad goals happen to every goalie throughout there career. Just look at Kipper not more than 5 minutes after Jimmy's mistake. I cant remember Howard ever scuffing a play like that since hes been in Detroit so if it happens once every 3 or 4 years Im ok with that. It will happen again. No matter who is in net for the Wings a s*** goal like that will happen.

My only thought is maybe Franzen and Cleary dont react well to be called out in the media. Babs knows this and instead tries to inspre him with praise. Its the only reason I can think of for a coach as good as him to say Franzen and Cleary have been good.

signed Official: Howard signs 6-year, $31.8m contract extension
GoalieManPat replied to matt198913's topic in General
Anyone thinking we will have a Luongo/Schneider problem in the future is clueless. Luongo's cap number is comparable to Jimmys but Luongo has what 9 years left on his deal when trying to be moved. That contract is almost unmoveable with getting any decent in return. Now if Mrazek or anybody all of sudden beats Jimmy out for a job in the next 2-3 years (which is how long it would probably take at minimum) its a heck of a lot easier to move a 5 million goalie contract with only 2-3 years left on it. Heck even in that time Luongo's contract could still have more on it than Jimmy initial signed for. Im actually hoping we have a goalie battle down the road. That means the Wing will have to top notch goalies with easily moveable contracts. Much better than the alternative of having none. But what it comes down to is there are people that dislike Jimmy will never give him credit. They will complain about the 1 he lets in but instantly forget the 35+ he saved. But thats common about Wings fans. They will never be happy with any goalie. Hell the wings could put a board up in front of the goal that covers the entire net and people would find a reason to complain about it. If so a 3yr/5million contract is easily moved. If Mrazek fails then the Wings have another 3 years to develop someone else. Good contract if you ask me. -
Because Im a Michigander. Being one means you root for the Tigers, Wings, Pistons, and yes even Lions.

Legitimate Way to Watch NHL Network Games?
GoalieManPat replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
Using a proxy to circumvent blackouts is just as "unlegit" as finding streams online. They are both means to the same end of watching stuff that you werent meant to see. With that said there are easier ways than using proxies when you realize you are already being "unlegit" -
You must have misunderstood my post. Nowhere in my post have I said me and Pav had breakfast and he said he wants to go back or did I say hes complained about his teammates. Pav is to good of a teammate to say anything like that. What I said in my post was that "I" as in just me watching the games did not like seeing his greatness wasted on lines with Cleary and Abdelkader. Pav has said in the past he wouldnt mind playing in Russia at the end of his career. Well if the Wings arent a Stanley Cup contender and teams in Russia will pay him more (which they easily can and would do) then why wouldnt he leave?
-
If the team doesnt improve next season I for one hope he goes back to Russia. For me one of the most painfull things this season is watching a player of his calibre be forced to play with two dead weights on his wings. Go back to the Motherland if it makes you happy Pavel. Thank you for the years of great hockey. To the OP. Get the jersey. Even if he leaves it is a great purchase to show your appreciation for his years of service with the organization. The guy is one of the top 20 players in Wings history.
-
Sounds a lot like Franzen to me. So based off that Im sure his next contract value will be to much for to long.

I guess there is another piano that needs to be carried.

Blocking a shot and being tapped by a stick are not one and the same. It was a dive. Stralman is a *****

Ilitch is being cheap with the Wings now that the Tigers are good.
GoalieManPat replied to Diluvian04's topic in General
You might meant Roman Abramovich the owner of Chelsea. That little Russian treats the club like a 5 year old treats Legos. Thank god Mr I isnt anywhere near like that guy. The Glazers who own Man U dont mettle to much in Alex Fergusons running of the team. The big kerfuffle with them was how they took over Man U and how the supporters didn't want American ownership. -

GoalieManPat replied to Diluvian04's topic in General
You are wrong again. Suter is the better all around player than Weber. Weber gets the headlines because of his size and big shot but Weber has not looked good without Suter. Nashville loses Suter and keeps Weber and goes from a playoff team to barely a .500 team. Minnesota picks up Suter and are now a solid playoff team. You also cant compare the Wings going after one or the other due to the fact that Weber was a restricted free agent and Suter was unrestricted. It makes a big difference when you have to put out big money and picks compared to just offering a big contract. Illitch is not a problem with the organization. He will let Kenny spend as much as the league allows. The problem is Kenny not getting the job done. -
NHL.com must like Cleary as much as Babs does.

How is he being cheap. He had no problem offering up 80 million to Suter and Parise this past off-season. The OP has completely failed at making a relevant post. You cant compare the Wings and Tigers. One sport has a cap and the other doesnt.
