Theres a difference between failure and embarrassing failure. This series was embarrassing failure. Normally I would agree with you that Holland will make the right changes but I have lost faith in that. This team has had pretty much the same problems for 3 seasons now and he has yet to make any significant move to fix them. What makes you so sure this year will be any different?

I laugh at your idiocy. Pav played on a line with an invisible donkey all series, a 4th line grinder on 1 leg for half, and a slow former power forward who has brick hands the other half of the series and yet was noticeable 95% of the time he was out there. Hardly meaningless.

The most frustrating thing is that the Wings basically did not show up today. How you can do that when your on the verge of elimination is beyong me. Other than Flips breakaway I cant really think of a true clear cut scoring chance the Wings created. The goal by Hudler was more of a broken play scramble than a clear cut chance. Nashville was in control the whole time.

That didnt matter much. He was probably the Preds worste player this series. Other than his goal tonight, which was more Quincey screwing up than Radulov doing anything, all he did was take stupid penalties and turn the puck over. He was the Preds version of Franzen.

I wouldnt say flawless. They certainly made mistakes. The difference was that the Wings didnt work hard enough to cash in on them. The Preds did.

This is the first time hes really had quite a bit of money to work with compared to the last two years. I have a feeling though we wont get much.

If Holland doesnt make significant moves this offseason we will be stuck with mediocre playoff results. This team is broken. He needs some true top talent to surround Datsyuk and Zetterberg. To all the Franzen defenders through this whole season...now you see what we've been telling you all year. The guy took his contract and has mailed it in. Maybe you guys meant next years playoffs is when he will finally show up.

Luongo can go rot back in Florida. Keep him out of Detroit. We are never happy with our goalies here in Detroit even when they are winning us Cups. God help Luongo if he were here during his yearly postseason flops.

I edited this for you. Franzen in no way is carrying the team on his back. He cant even carry his hockey bag on his back with how unmotivated he has become. You do realize that this team is not as "old" as they once were. Old is not the issue. The guys listed in the OP as "not young but not old" are all in the prime of there careers (26-33 in my opinion for hockey players). The problem is they dont have the right types of players in the top 9 forwards to mesh together. People also said the Wings would not win a Cup with Chris Osgood. Look how that turned out. Goal-tending is not the issue on this team. Its just the easiest thing for people to point to.

Hopefully he gave Stuart a free pair as Klein made him lose his in Game 3.

I gave myself a couple hours before posting after the game. Here are my thoughts after tonight: 1. I hope Lids is still injured. If not his play has taken an astronomical decline the last couple months. He has been at best an average defender and thats hard for me to say as hes been my favorite Wings since I was 10. 2. I dont think I have ever seen a worse defensive breakdown in crunch time of an important game than I saw tonight on Nashvilles game winner. Was Erat really that dangerous that both defenders, a forward, and Howard had to follow him into the corner yet still allow him to pass it to a wide open teammate? 3. Stuart probably had his strongest playoff game tonight but since January he has played like he wants to get to the West coast as soon as possible. 4. It was nice to see Miller and Abdelkader try and make there imprint on the game. 5. Franzen seemed like he wanted to try and play a little bit more than the past 3 games but I wish he would have been a power forward and took that one chance far post instead of trying to be fancy. He goes strong to the other side of the net and he more than likely scores. 6. The only effective net front screen the Wings have had the whole series was .... Jiri Hudler. That tells you how they havnt been able to get to the net. 7. They had a lot of shots this game but I felt very few true scoring chances. Lots of far our shots that were just gloved. 8. Yes Jimmy didnt have his best game tonight. I think that called off goal rattled him a bit. But to say he is a problem is insane. The guy was a Vezina candidate until getting hurt and was the teams top player the last two post seasons. Hes the reason they have the only win this series. 9.The Wings are in a decline. They go from Cup Champs, to losing in the finals, to two straight 2nd round defeats, and then if Nashville closes them out Friday an embarrassing first round exit. Should that happen the team really needs changes. Im not saying blow it up but some players need to be moved on so fresh/young blood can be brought in. What Holland does this offseason will determine whether we have to suffer through 5 more years of playoff mediocrity or playoff success. Now with that said Im not saying this series is over. The Wings proved last year that they could win three straight facing elimination but this team feels nothing like last years.

Havnt read through the thread buy in my opinion his plan is "Our team is already really strong but the prices of players prevented us from making any signings."
