Just from the point of view of Lidstrom returning for next year, the Wings winning the Cup could be the worst thing to happen. They win the Cup this year and the retire while on top thoughts get added into the equation.

This is a strange one. The Wings fan in me hates Lemieux and cannot stand the thought of paying his autograph. Then again the sports memorabilia fan in me thinks that the fight involving these two was one of the defining sports fan moments I had while growing up and having a photo signed by the two involved would be amazing. I would probably attend this. On another note is there any official announcement about this other than just a message board post? No offence to the original poster but it would be great to see an announcement on the place holding its website or something. Wow he scored a junk goal. Its not like he went end to end beating every man on the ice. It was more of Bryz letting in a weak goal than it was Ritola doing anything special. Except Marty has never had a season under .900. Osgood has been under it for over a year. Nobody is saying they shouldnt get some of the blame. But when you get beat from inside the blueline with a wrist shot and beat from an unscreened shot from the bottom of the circle thats just as much his fault.

I notice you left out making an excuse for him on the 3rd goal which was weak for a junior goalie let alone a pro and turned out to the game decider. And I bolded the part where you make even less sense. Save % is the best indication of how a goalie is playing. GAA can be kept down by team defense but save percentage shows just how good you are at keeping the puck out when its put on net which is his job. Osgood has had a % under .900 last season and so far this season. If you cant hold down a better than .900 save percentage your not an NHL caliber goalie. Sorry but its the fact. Guarantee you everyone in the NHL believes the same.

Why does everyone defend Osgood so much when he plays terrible. McDonald would have been the better start tonight. Sure the first goal was a breakaway so you cant put all the blame on him but and NHL caliber goaltender should be able to atleast have a 50/50 shot at the save. Osgood rarely makes that save. On the 2nd goal Osgood needs to make that save. Snipe or not from that angle it cant go in. Bryz just made a save on the same shot comforatable. Dont even try to make an excuse for him on the third. Its not like it was deflected out in front of him and he had no chance. If anything it tipped the stick as soon as it came off the Phoenix players stick. Thats a save that should be made in any level of professional hockey.

My girl was a Rangers fan before last season. She didn't know much about hockey at all but said she went to a couple Ranger games since she has spent most her life living in New York so she considered herself a Ranger fan. Well by the end of the season I had converted her. When we moved in I told her that if the Wings were playing the TV was on that channel. She started watching all the games with me starting in November. Said Bertuzzi was handsome for about two weeks until she finally saw a close up of his mouth. Called him Bertuchi for a while to. I never corrected her on that because it was funny as hell when shed say it. After Game 5 vs Phoenix ended I went into the computer room to check LGW and 10 minutes later I come back out and she says "I decided I really want to go to a Wings game so I bought us tickets for game 6". Conversion complete lol

Because having one of the best Dmen of all time as your partner surely couldn't be helping him. Raffi has been good but if you somehow think he has outplayed Lidstrom the last couple year you really must be a box score reader and not watch games.
