If we'll not play better, we'll be out of the playoffs!

If you think this guy is bad as a hockey announcer you should have heard him when he was the announcer for US Soccer. I remember right as the US upset Portugal 3-2 in the 2002 World Cup he screamed "Mine eyes have seen the glory!" and thus almost ruining a defining moment in US Soccer. Epic fail at trying to have his own "Do you believe in miracles!" like call.

I wouldnt call it bitter for the first two. They were shootouts. Dallas maybe just because the call was pretty bad. This game was bitter though because the team played solid except for the standard Osgood stat line: 20 shots against atleast 3-4 goals. Theodore stops 40 or 42 or so.
-
Howard carries the team when the rest is playing bad. Osgood hurts the team when the rest play strong. Thats the key. What hes done the last two years means nothing for what he can do this year.

The forum needs an addon that automatically closes any thread about attendance.

These posts about "getting acclimated" to the playoffs are BS. You don't get acclimated to the playoffs by watching or getting mop up duty when your up big. You get acclimated by starting the frigging game. Thats the only way you will ever know if he can play in the pressure. Sure you risk him faltering and losing and say going down 0-2 in a series but with the way Osgood has played you have just a good of chance that he would drop them 0-2. I'm betting you Osgood gets a chance in the last 20 games to "lose" the spot for the playoffs but I don't think Babs is to worried about putting Howard out there. I think hes more worried about whether its gone for Ozzie.

Id prefer to not have Ericsson or Stuart fighting with the bad luck the Wigns have had with injuries this year.

The NHL can do all they want to try and shut down streams but they will never succeed. Its just like software piracy. People will find a way to get what they want. If the NHL was smart they would host there own free live game streams and just insert ads around the video or during normal game breaks. That way they atleast get some money instead of spending money going after streams.

Holmstrom on the top line.....shudder

Maybe its just me but I believe its way more of an honor to play in the Olympics than in the NHL. Your playing for you national pride and not a contract. If this somehow keeps the top players from playing in the Olympics in future years its a shame.

No jam in the Islanders net. DiPietro will never be healthy enough to cause an issue. -
Yes but baseball players are in general *******. Keep sneezing Sammy!
-
The key to that goal and the goal Grimace posted was that it was Mule driving the net hard. He stopped doing that at the end of the year and was extremely less effective.
-
Hopefully thats pre lockout Maltby.
-
No thanks. The guy proved last year he is for the money as opposed to winning.
-
Every other dman this year seemed to have no problem.
-
Id rather not have the teammate concusser on my club.
-
Homer has been one of my favorite players the last 15 years but he has been in sharp decline.
-
That line would dominate only if Mule got the mean streak back that he lost towards the end of the playoffs. Him getting dirty on the boards and driving the net constantly would open up so much for Dats and Z
-
If 10 is anything like NHL 09 ratings than Homer is dropped to the 4th line and Drapes moves up to take his spot. Thats a winning move!
-
I agree with you at that part as I believe Detroit does more for him than he does for Detroit. The players and system in Detroit make him get better numbers than he would elsewhere in the league. We will see the same thing with Sammy this year where he might get 30 points this year in Vancouver. I guess we could say Jiri was the smarter one and is at least running away to a spot where checking might as well be illegal. The NHL is heads and shoulders above the Euro leagues. Running to Europe is 100% the easy way out. If someone wants to compete in the top hockey league in the World they will do whatever they can to do that. Those are the players you want on your team.

Another year of Homer on the top line doesn't inspire much hope for me.
