The NHL has changed. Its more about speed and grinding physicality now. Now if you have someone who can fight, has speed, and play they game of hockey then good on ya because its rare. Your not going to see the like of Probert and Kocur anymore and it best to get used to it.

Dunno if it has been said yet as I haven't read all 26 pages but I must say my favorite thing about Hossa is the guy drives the net hard to score goals.

Who says hes not going to be put in? Its smart to have a cheap goalie in the team if god forbid your one proven NHL goalie goes down. Id love to see Howard get in a bunch of games as well but he has yet to prove himself in the NHL. I know he hasn't had the chance but he is still unproven. This is Ozzies team this year. What happens if Howard really doesnt adjust well to the NHL and Ozzie gets hurt the last week of the season? I for one will sleep better knowing the Wings have a guy in waiting that has proven himself to be decent in the NHL. Also I haven't seen whether or not its a 2way contract. If so expect Howard to be up and Conklin to be in GR. It might be just me but based on what some management have said the last couple years they are not sold on Howard being the man. Thus 1st round draft pick this year and the safety signing of Conklin.

When did he ever say he didn't want to be in Detroit? He got offered 4 million a year to go to a team (which at the time of signing) had just as good, if not better, chance to win a Cup than the Wings. Remember that had he accepted the Wings offer we would have had to fork over more draft picks to Florida. I mean if your offered twice as much from the current Cup winners, from a GM you have a good relationship with, than a team you have only been with a couple on months you wouldn't take that offer? If Kenny can swing a deal around 1.2-1.3 million for 1 or 2 years what is it going to hurt? Its a very low risk high reward move. Heck the Wings are going to need to dump a defenseman anyways due to roster space which opens up more cap room.
