The original poster is wrong. Holland said he wants to save room at the trade deadline in the event that the wings needed to pick something up. Maybe he doesnt feel the team needs a big trade. Right. The only problem with your point is that Osgoods goaltending stats while in NY and STL are comparable to what his are with the Wings. And those teams weren't half of what the Wings are.

Why would the wings want to pickup someone that cant play with the Blackhawks? Everyone here is always looking for a reason to pickup someone new. What if picking up his salary later on down the road effects what the Wings can do at the trade deadline? Are his two minutes every three games worth it then? If the guy is in no way gonna be a final piece to a championship run then dont do a thing. He would be a healthy scratch every playoff game. And in the odd chance someone gets hurt this guy in no way helps the team.

The farm team is not going to win the World Series. Obviously the Tigers dont feel the team is good enough to win now. Detroits hitters are getting older. Sure they could wait until Maybin and Miller develop but by that time you can count on Polanco, Shef, Mags, and Pudge being gone. Then your stuck with one or two stars in the lineup. You make this trade now and you give yourself one of the best lineups in baseball. You get a chance to aquire one of the top young hitters in the game for a prospect who has proven squat so far you had better take that deal or get fired. The Tigers are no longer a rebuilding team looking for future stars in 4 years. They are a team that is looking for that one final piece. Like Sheed for the Pistons, Hasek in 02, and Shanahan in 97. Besides Maybin and Miller are going to Florida. That means if they get good there is no chance they are kept in Florida and thus giving the Tigers chances to re-acquire them.

Its a mixture of a bunch of things. The economy is a big part of it I think but its not the complete reason. Comparing to the Tigers tho is a bit off since one can get 3 tickets to a Tigers game for the cost of one Wings ticket.

Im sorry but with the Hand of God play is more reffing idiocy than cheating. Plain and simple the ref should have made the call. Its the same as if a player kicks a puck in and the ref doesnt call it back. Your doing what you can to score that goal and if a referee doesn't make then call then so be it. The real cheating in those lists are anything to do with doping.

Just becuase the wings have 8-9 million availible why do they have to use it this offseason? Id rather wait and have space availible in the event good trades become availible instead of wasting that cap space and overpaying for someone who isnt worth it because everyone presses the panic button.
