Lol Jurco???!!?? Really. The guy is the least deserving of a spot on the roster than anyone, Tatar and Nyquist seemed to have talent until Blash took over. One player regressing with a new coach is just circumstances. Multiple players regressing under a guy is a bad trend for that coach.

The Ozzie thing was a different situation though. He was let go only because they had added one of the best goalies of his generation in Hasek. Howard alone isnt going to get you a top defender so it would have to be a package deal or your getting at best a #4 dman and we already have a bunch of those. I do agree with you that Coreau hasnt been that impressive. He looked good against Pittsburgh but pretty meh the other two games. It shows how much faith the coaching staff have in Mrazek at this point though that he got two starts right away after Howards injury. I also agree with you that everyone on the roster should be available except Hank. Hes more than earned his right to retire a Wing. The only way he should leave is if he wants to chase one more Cup and I would be ok with that.

He didnt fully earn the spot back during Howards first injury. His play did pick up a little bit in that time but his GAA was still above 3.5 in those games and he benefited from the Wings scoring more in that stretch than they had all season outside of the 2nd week. The more the season goes on I dont see any way the Wings would waiver him. The only way Howard is coming off the roster is if he is traded or LV takes him. Like you said at this point his contract doesnt matter. The Wings are not going to be contenders until his contract is over anyways so the urgency isnt there as there once was. Unless Coreau really shines the 2nd half I cant keep them keeping him over a veteran Howard especially if Mrazek cant break out of his slump.

How did he not treat him right? He started Mrazek in 9 of the first 12 games. His game then went to s*** and he has yet to play well enough to take the spot back.

Lol I always chuckle at when they mention that during every broadcast and you look and see atleast 20+ empty seats in every section of the lower level. Im willing to bet very few of those 260 or whatever straight sellouts were higher than 90 capacity. Mostly only when Toronto or Montreal are in town and their fans fill up the stadium.

Yup its the home of Toronto FC and the MLS Cup was just held there. Its actually a beautiful stadium. Enjoyed watching a match there.

Probably yes unless they get lucky in the FA market or someone develops out of nowhere. This team just doesn't have the assets to acquire a true #1 dman without hindering itself further. To get a true #1 dman you are losing either Larkin or Mantha for sure no doubts and probably a high draft pick. You trade one of them but guess what you dont have another Larkin or Mantha in the system at all right now so you will be waiting 7 years and hoping someone develops anyways to fill that spot. What really hurts this team is Tatar and Nyquist going into the crapper. If they were still scoring 25-30 goals they would be the assets used to bring in a dman and it wouldn't hurt as much in the long run. What this team needs is for Howard to come back strong and Vanek to start scoring goals again. Those are the key chips come trade deadline to prevent this from being a wasted season. To put it bluntly this team is not going to be even a outside contender for 5+ years. You might as well stockpile young talent in that time. Overpaying with youth to get a #1 dman for 5-6 years is nothing but a bandaid. We have had 4+ years of Holland trying to put bandages on this team to keep them in the playoffs but not really building anything for the long term (other than bad contracts ). Its time to take the bandages off and let this team bleed out. Just think if he would have started planning for the future a couple years ago instead of hindering this team for the sake of the streak things wouldn't look so bleak right now. I think the problem is Ken Holland just doesnt seem to know how to build a team from scratch. Hes never had to. He seems to be real good at guiding a front running team but in terms of building one not so much. Teams likes Toronto and Buffalo also have something else in common. They have a brighter future than the Wings right now because they embraced the suck and started buidling through the draft. We can barely get a good game from Dekeyser nowadays let alone 6-7 years of good D

The only way Detroit gets any D-man worth a damn is if Mantha or Larkin are sent the other way. They truly are the only real top notch assets this team has. Dont make a move. Just blow it up already and go full youth movement. If 1 dman could right the ship I would say go for it but this team needs atleast 3 dmen and a couple forwards. The thing that worries me is that Larkin started his "sophomore slump" midway through his rookie year and is yet to break out of it.

Blashill is going to go with whoever can get him wins. He knows if the Bruins ever find their game the Wings could be out of the race by mid January. If that happens he knows hes gone. With how Mrazek played last night I fully expect Coreau to start Thursday.

Holland needs to sack up and fire this clown already.

They are a perfect example that if your team has the right players, not necessarily all all-stars, they can succeed. Having a defense that is actually competent and not all plugs helps.

Resign and find another job. This team is going to be bad for a long time and would be fired before its fixed anyway.
