For the most part yes but tonight the team actually played well enough over 60 minutes to beat the Sabres. Granted it doesnt take much to outplay the Sabres but Mrazek lost the points for the team tonight. I kinda wish he wouldnt have hot that hot streak so the Wings would have missed the playoffs. Maybe then they would have jump started a rebuild.

But but but the team scores more with Mrazek so he must be the better option!

Oh no no no. This isnt rock bottom. Its going to get a lot worse before its better. Just think next year the team will have no Vanek, Howard, or Smith. Tatar and Jurco will be given fresh 4 year contracts for more than they are worth and will continue to not produce. Green will be dealt at the deadline next year to a contender. That will leave the forwards being led by a 38 year old Zetterberg and the defense by a 36 year old Kronwall with no knees. There is also a 50/50 shot they will still have Blash. The future is not bright right now.

Both, especially Saarijarvi, are very small. The Wings really need good strong defenders with some size. I think you can get away with 1 maybe 2 small offensive guys on your blueline if you can pair them with solid shut down guys. To bad the wings dont have any of those in the pipeline.

When you lead your team in PIM and have no fighting majors its not a positive thing. It shows you are undisciplined and put your team in a major disadvantage far to often.

1. Mantha maybe. AA no way. While I like AA he is just as one dimensional as Larkin in that his game is 95% speed. Larkin though has a better offensive game. Lets also not forget that Larkin is two years younger than both of them and has already established himself as an NHL player. Sure he may not be the future franchise player he looked like in the first 3 months of his career but hes still the best young talent in the organization. 2. Two crap teams trading crap players from crap rosters does not uncrapify either team.

His continued spot in the lineup should be determined by if his wife is willing to continue to be interviewed when he plays.

This is what the NHL wants though. A team out of it by mid December is unlikely to pull a strong attendance unless they are a traditional hockey market. Does this week define the teams playoff chances? No. Does it define whether Blashill has a job in the new year? God I hope so.

Of goalies that have played at-least 15 games he is 30th in GA and 32nd in save%. After the first two weeks hes been pretty bad. If he got the lack of goal support that Howard has gotten hed only have a couple wins.

Larkin and Mantha are the two with the most potential but neither will be elite. Nobody in the Wings system currently can I see truly becoming an elite top 10 player in their position. A year and a half ago I would have said Mrazek was a definite to be elite but really he hasn't progressed since coming up. The rest are all 3rd line and below guys. Maybe one might excel and be a proper 2nd line player. Our young guys are the best option right now but the future certainly isnt spectacular looking.
