He you may have something to look forward to this year with the soxs man hope they beat them damn yanks. As shocked as you are if indeed i make a mistake i will admit to it, so if you all want to bash on me for a while go for it but most of my post are on point except this one. I have said this alot but i think Cleary could play a style like Shanny did not to the same level but with the hits and points. I would not be shocked if he made a push at some point in the season for a spot on the top 2 lines. I would really like to see what he could do with min with Dats or Z if they stay apart the whole year. I hate to bring this up i'm really going to get my as* kicked for this, What about Foresberg at the deadline if healthy what could he add to this team? Just something to think about thrum out the year.

I see your point it will be interesting to see what happens this year. I also agree with the comment about lang as much as everyone said he was lazy he did help every once in while. And players like cleary huds and sammy are starting new parts of there carrier, will be interesting to see how the handle it all. Next time i while think before i post thought there where more of these going on but after looking there where not. I take it back.

I really like Pavs line i wonder where Cleary will fit in i would not mind letting him get a shot at sammys spot i think he is going to be one hell of a player.

And if i may add that look pretty damn good, i sammy and huds on line 1 kind of a shock.

I like what the guy did there should be more coaches that stick up for his players.

But who is to say he cant find a scoring touch on a team like the wings. If you ask me he has proved more then Igor has. I think you need to have a mix of players When Drakes out Downey can play who is to say Drake with his old body does not get hurt early would be nice to have Downey ready to go.

O please lack of respect for Yzerman i must have missed the part when his ## went up months after he hung the skates up. When it some of the others ## 30 years after they where done to get there number hung up there with the greats of Det. You need to bulid a bridge and get over. No where did it say Yezerman was holding anyone back. Just made a point that how do you fill the void of leadership like Yerzerman and Shanny not leaving a few year a part but the same year. And also how the current redwings you know the other guys playing!! Did to step up and fill some fairly large shoes. Also you read a post on this website about Lindstrom should have had the C 16 years ago he should have if he had not played with Yezerman. But this is about as point less as the other threds saying we need a fighter hell maybe Yezerman and Shanny can come back and be our fighters i know you would get happy about that.

I'm so sick of this why fill a roster spot with what we already have. Downey is at least something different. A guy like him does not need to dress every night. But there is no point in fighting this with you have your one sided mind already made up. Its a shame that you cant open your mind to something different, i just simply made a comment that Downey may help dats from getting ran from behind. Go back a few years when we had or skill mixed with fighters how often did they get ran at sometimes they did but the payed a price when they did. If i played for the other team and DET had no one that was going to kick my ass for hitting dats from behind and we were in the playoffs i'm going to lay him out any chance i get. At least Downey may hold some ppl accountable for there actions no where did i say Downey is the savior. Hell who knows maybe he may even get a few points why he is at it sounds like bonus to me.

Igor has not looked good at all. I was making a comment to yours about how he brings nothing other then fighting to the team. Well give him some min with some skilled players and see if thats true thats all i'm saying last time a checked what ever i said ment nothing i can care less if downey makes the team. And just say hey will beat you on the score bored untill dats gets hurt then all bets are off.

I think it takes more then pre season games to make that call. When did homer become this great player for the wings when the moved him on line with 2 all stars. If you play downey with AHL players then dont expect alot. If you dont give him some min dont expect alot. I think you put him with cleary and huds in a pre season game for a shift or two see how he does. Hell it cant hurt. NOTE i said pre season.

What i would like to see is a game where we play all the regs with like sopel on D and downey in the Fwd spot and see. I mean i think alot has to do with who you are playing with.

The only thing i have to say is at what point do all of you start bitching about our d making mistakes all the time. Did any one see Ericsson turnover that led to the first goal. Meech the game i saw him played looked liked s***. Quincey i dont think is ready i think another year in the AHL would not hurt. Downey thought he did what he was brought to camp to do. Igor all i can say is dont let the door hit you in the ass on the way out,this guy is slow and always seems out of place. I think the only one from FWD spot that should make it Downey just cuz he brings something the wings dont have and need. Now for D i was big sopel guy but cant say he has been great or bad really just AVG and thats do bad for him. The D is really up for grabs. If i had to take a guess they will go with soap cuz he is old, thats what the wings seem to likes. FWD they will go with igor he is like everything we have now so why change.

You know nick i like some of your points. But there just wrong, Downey is not that bad i dont understand all the bad talk about him but yet dont understand all the positive. The wings need a player like him or him i would not mind him gettting the 13the spot give me a reason why anyone other then him should have it. Igor look as bad as lang did and we all know how that goes here. So who thats trying out does anything different then what we already have? Better yet who trying out does something different and the only person that would be like that on this team? Please don't come back with cleary malts drake and liga those are not even in the same group.
