There is alot of talk about the rule changes that will be made now that something like this has happened and I think its simple: players must keep their helmets on during fights. Players hands are at greater risk but thats alot better than their lives. Also players who choose to wear visors should have to be able to remove the visor but not the helmet. I don't really see any other way to avoid serious head trauma except to eliminate fighting completely.. but I don't think anyone wants that.

Lidstrom has 2 yrs left on his contract. If he hangs up his skates, i say we replace him with the only person who could come close to replacing him.. Roberto. who also has 2 yrs left on his contract.

i think this is the year avery gets put in his place... just got that feeling... he is recognised as a better player now which is why it will be insentive for somebody to break his jaw...

if franzen has a season like the one he just had, next year he will fetch 4.5-6 million a year over 5 years... its goingt o come down to either him or hossa staying next year

blockbuster trade i think should happen... dan boyle brad richards for dan cleary jiri hudler (insert pick and or prospect) tampa- dumps huge salary, signs cleary long term, picks up young talent and or picks detroit- gets relatively cheap rental in boyle and the commitment of richards staying with the team longer then a couple months (i know richards would be a risk but i think holland would be willing to take it... it could pay off bringing him to detroit)

Has anything been mentioned about contract talks? Could his back issues be a turn off for a long extention? Holland has been saying he has some tough decisions to make... hopefully they have nothing to do with Z.

this trade would make sence if lilja and prspects are sent the other way lilja is not a great player, but has been playing a good role for detroit as of late. if they cant get him resigned for cheap, i think he'll be sent somewhere while he still has some kind of value. i hate to say it too, i hated lilja until last years playoffs.... hes still a ***** that makes some dumb plays, but he tries to play the type of game we like to watch

looks like calgary and buffalo may be out of the playoff hunt this year... how good would Huselius look in the winged wheel?? lankow is a free agent as well... it looks like we may need a solid d-man, cambell is available. dont know what it would take, but any one of these guys would be a good pick up.

i think he would be a better version of robert lang... and would come cheap. i also think he would fit into detroits system and we could sign him to a short term deal. if it doesnt work out, hit the road, but i think babcock could whip him into shape
