SportsNet is retracking...... Deal is close but not confirmed...... Either way...staying away from early round play against the Canucks would be a good thing. -
Smolinski to Vancouver for 2nd-round pick in '07
Vancouver Wings Fan replied to Vancouver Wings Fan's topic in General
As a Wings fan out here in Vancouver I am betting that the road to the Cup will have to come through here. The Canucks are a team to look out for. One of the hottest teams in the NHL. Top notch goalie, two solid scoring lines (with Smolinski), solid defense and rumors of more to add. Be afraid of these guys. -
Now this would have been a decent pick up.....if he was truely availible.
-
Exactly my point....why would we hope that a front office like Detroit's replicate the losing example set by Florida bring in Gary Roberts? They brought guys like Eddie and Roberts in for their past leadership and old day resumes....they made errors that we did not. We need young talent, hungry to displace the recent trend of our playoff woes.
-
Look up the meaning of floatsam....you may be somewhat illiterate but I am referring to other teams cast offs. Of course Roberts is not a floater, however, he is definately the prime example of a player who was overpaid at 2.25M not being needed by his team that he could not lead to the playoffs....again!
-
God I hope that we haven't throw in the towel on useless floatsom and jetsom like Roberts! Even for draft picks guys like Roberts, Bert, , Guerrin are not what this team needs. We need tough roll player types...like the Pisanis, Torres, and Commador types that handed us our heads in the last few years!

Official: Blues trade Tkachuk to Thrashers
Vancouver Wings Fan replied to TheWestWing's topic in General
I can't understand the talk of getting Bertuzzi??? He has injury issues, a bad attitude, and very very limited playoff experience during his career....of which he only has had a couple of good seasons that Markus Naslund provided him! If a conditional offer is even a roll of tape then that is too much for this guy!! -
Eklund: Tkachuk (or Guerin) a Wing soon?

Vancouver Radio reporting the Wings are in a shootout with Edmonton!! What is TSN report?????!!!!! It's true!!! It is going to a shootout....It has been confirmed!!! -
Laraque would be a great fit in Detroit - Exactly the type of player that helped beat the Wings last year! Assuming we could get him for picks - it is a no brainer to go after this guy.
-
Well put TO - I agree with you 100% The last thing we need are washed up deadweights that are considered so good (Guerrin, Nolan(!!!?) Tkachuk)however, they could not help their teams make the playoffs in a league that has over half the franchises make it to the dance. Remeber last year the names: Fernando Pisani, Shawn Horcoff, Mike Peca and the year before: Mike Commodore, Daymond Langkow These were the type of players the beat out our mighty Red Wings! The team is solid and needs nothing more then a small adjustment in the toughness catagory - we need guys who will act as roll players to support the exisiting superstars.

We shouldn't trade CLEARY or WILLIAMS

Again, apples and oranges - Burtuzzi has also seldom lived up to the hype he projected. Yzerman continued to perform and show leadership even when the Wings came up short. Burt reflected nothing but negativity in performance and attitude in Vancouver. The feeling amongst Canuck fans out here is that they are Stanley Cup contenders and stronger then previous years, just because he is gone. Not being a Canucks fan I think there is more to it such as getting Luongo in goal that makes them a contender. The Keenan trade sending Luongo to Van for Bert may well go down as one of the most lopsided deals in NHL history. I hope Kenny does not spend a roll of tape for this guy! Let alone the injury issue........................ -

Burt was healthy his whole career in Vancouver and never saw the second round - comparing any aspect of him and Hull is impossible - it is like comparing apples and oranges. Vancouver was full of leaders as well - Naslund, Ohlund, Linden, Morrison, Jovo, etc.. - guys who would wear the C or A on any team - and Burt's attitude helped to lead to nowhere and chaos. I hope his injury worries are enough to scare Kenny from this potential move. -

An addition without giving up too much is what all contending teams are looking for. Kenny is wise and will try to do the best he can to get a good fit for the team. What scares me is the thought of bringing in Todd Bertuzzi. Giving up any fuutre talent for that bad apple, in my opinion, would be a case of subtraction by addition! He had a reputation in Vancouver as a self centered, arrogant, under acheiver - not what a team that wins the President's Trophy consitently and bows out in the early rounds needs in the dressing room. -
