  1. Those teams that would make Flip a top 4 forward are teams any resonable player wouldn't want to play for - unless of course they offer him ALOT of $$$...Just think of Khabibulin; went from Stanley Cup to the basement with 1 signature...I agree that Flip will continue to improve/mature over the next few years as a Red Wing, but kinda hard to say what'll happen if he goes elsewhere, & alot is expected from him - he may not be able to deliver.

Talk on the Vancouver radio here that the Canucks might be just the team to put a bid in for Flip.....to your point above....a ton would be expected of him and there is little chance of him delivering with the cast and pressure to produce here....

I like Flip very much, but if teams put in crazy numbers and his choice is money over success, then see ya....Holland will make the right moves

  2. I hope we can jump on them like they've done to us the last 3 games, and like we did against Dallas in game 6.

And hopefully with half a minute left in tomorrow's game, we'll be up by 2 goals, because if we're only up by 1, I'm not going to have much faith after what happened yesterday.

As far as the lines go, I'd keep things the way they are at forward, and insert Chelios somehow. The guys just need to score, because as they showed yesterday, the chances will be there.

Almost my thoughts exactly.....but I'd keep Cheli out...I'd actually be worried he'd be rusty from the layoff and not be with the program of domination the Wings have demo'd this whole series!

Whatever the lines combos are the boys just have to bury their chances and trust that the luck factor will be at least equal instead of crazy bounces going only one way....

...let's face it the better team did not win last night; but with the same effort as periods 2 though 5 and some finish the Wings will crush them!

  3. So, I was looking around TSN this morning when I saw the article about last night's game. It spoke about how amazing Kipper was, but if you were reading the article and had no knowledge of the Wings current injuries, you would think they were just missing a couple players. You've gotta love how the Canadian media really makes the Flames look better by trying to elevate last night's win by implying that they beat the Red Wings team that is running away with the West, when in reality, they faced an extremely young team missing the heart and soul of its identity.

    http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=230351&hubname=

Injuries are a reallity but not an excuse and the Wings did not score a single goal last night while the young defense fill ins allowed one. It seems to me the front end needed to step up to support the back.

At the end of the day the team on the ice is the Dertoit Red Wings and were beaten. Tonight the team they face will be an equal test and if they do not score goals on the best goalie in hockey they will not win...whether that is perceived as CDN media thinking or not it is reality.

  4. The cliches are true....

All teams have injuries, time for the youngsters to step up and show that they belong in the bigs, some rest for the wounded before the real season starts.

We may lose a few right now, but I am sure we will forget and maybe even be thankful for this period around late May.

  5. missing grinding Cleary right now....:(

...and also missing Probie, Kocur, McCarty...I am F'n sick of see goalies getting run, crap behind the play, stick work...and relying on the refs to make the calls.....credit to Downie and Drake for their work...but we need a couple of more guys to stand up and start putting these guys into Row 3!!!

  6. yeah your telling me, Living in Victoria sucks because that's all i hear about is the damn Canucks... Haha yeah i know, and all i can do is laugh about that..

PS.. Feel better Reems, and sucks you couldn't go to the game

It is incredible how the Canucks and their fans run the Leafs when they are the same in the believe that they are perennial Cup contenders....

I hope the Wings are on their game tonight and and clubber these pretenders! I have begun to hate the Canucks just as much as the Leafs!!

  7. Vancouver radio is touting this as a great test of the Canucks....

Being a Wings fan I am thinking this is a great test for us....how will we respond to being winless in 3 and now facing a potential playoff match up and the best goalie in the NHL....this can be a statement game for the Wings!

    Go Wings!!

  8. hasek does have a team in front of him, which is what makes it worse

A team that lately has had real questions on special teams (PP included - shorthanded give aways), has been taking slack penalties, and getting out chanced....

I though after the Blues game they were going to turn the corner and get back to "normal" but so far not.

  9. What is Hasek getting paid 4M for? It's not just _this_ game. What about last game?

What is the combined salary of the two power play units that allowed the breakdows??!! What's the combined salary of the guys who got multiple shots on goal and did not score???!!! 36million???

Pinning the loss on one guy is crazy....and actually the one guy made some saves on other breakdowns or it may have been 6-3!! They almost set a record for shorthand goals given up in 1 period!!!

  10. This is pathetic....it is like amature hour on this board!!

This was a team loss....we had 5 players on the ice against 4 .....it is called a power play....5 times the TEAM broke down and left their golalie out to dry on a power play!!!! You can't win games with a total team defense collapse!!!

Some on here really show their ignorance assessing the TEAM game called hockey!! Go back to watching ping pong and other solo sports if you want to pin this on one guy!!!!!

  11. 42 shots to 16, you gotta be kidding me here fellas. None of you know anything about hockey if you think Dom has played bad or this game is his fault.

I love how the past 2 games and 8 goals he's allowed, he could be faulted for 1 of them (the Mayers shot from the boards).

    exactly

This is a team let down.....it is making me sick to see how blind people are in blaming Hasek!! Over the past 3 games....It would not matter if it was Roy, Dryden, Trechiak, Sawchuck or any other collection of Hall of Fammers....the TEAM has sucked in their devensive play....and now tonight in their PP execution!!

Any one who can't see this should switch to another sport to critique!

  12. Well I think it's getting close to call this some form of curse, that and Hasek is the worst goalie in the league, seriously he's been worse than Cloutier this season. Lowest save percentage in the league and it's only going to drop after tonight, just how much has he aged over the off season?

The entitre power play units are equall to blame...not just Hasek.....WTF is up with the PP!!!
