    Changes in the offseason

What is the development status of Ferraro's kid?? We need new blood with golden hands .Unfortunately all the up and comers ripening in Grand rapids don't have 50 goal potential largely We need to find some diamonds hiding in Europe somewhere

    Wings Playoff/Cup chances?

After last nights debacle and the seemingly disinterested play we've witnessed for several months I'm asking the lads of the forum which way they think this team is leaning Are we cagey veterans playing possum for the playoffs or easy pickins for a younger more aggressive opposition? Frankly I'm undecided Cast your vote/opinion!!

3/28 GDT: Blackhawks 3 at Red Wings 2 (OT)

I think we 've got potential big time problems with a lot of teams in the west(but so does Vancouver) San Jose manhandled us last year,Hawks have owned us all year,Phoenix and Nashville make life miserable for us, and the greasers from Anaheim may be s***ty overall but we don't like their greaseball physical game I'm terribly worried this year that we might be an early exit Hate it if it happens but gotta keep it real here rather than another ref bashing post game forum

    This years playoffs

You've got this right on in your assessment this is an eerily similar makeup to the first winning Wings teams of 15 years ago But we all know with little Gary's parity /salary cap experiment nobody will ever be able to build dominant teams for the long term so all his owner buddies in the poor markets of the US will get a chance to win too via endless free agency and cap , rotating players throughout the league

Red Wings will win game 7

As a Wings fan for over 50 years now( yes that's 50) I have to agree with your sentiments We may win this series yet but we are witnessing the end of the great 15 year run many of us have been blessed to observe The battles with Colorado, the 4 cups and all the conquests we have enjoyed will end this year regardless of where we end up The Wings of next year will look quite different and unfortunately will resemble the mediocraty of the rest of Bettman's parity experiment in the NHL

    Jimmy Howard

Gotta agree with you Howard is back to his old problems of rebound control and seems like he's a bit tight out there I suspect we'll see Osgood on Tuesday esp after that 4th goal definitely not up to snuff on that one Consider that Babcock/Holland et al gave Osgood the year off at a million or so bucks salary you have to think that they're going to lean on him now The team STILL thinks they can win this thing on reputation alone and aren't prepared to do the dirty work neccessary to win this series let alone go any further Gut check time over the next 2 days and put Lebda in for Ericsson at least he can skate both directions

    Abbys in!

No kidding Big bert the uber turd was man handled all night he plays like a 12 year old in his first year of contact hockey put him on line 3 and move up Cleary better yet put Bertuzzi on line 6 and Erickson plays like he weighs in at 156 lbs he needs a serious ass reaming from Babcock ... and he's getting PK action last night pathetic I'd put Lebda back in in a heartbeat this Erickson kid appears to be a bit of a failed experiment debate at will

3/19 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Oilers 3 (SO)

Right on with the dead weight comment Please send Bertuzzi to a nursing home of your choice He plays like he weighs 150 lbs and hasnn't completed a pass in games
  10. Could we possibly throw that turd Bertuzzi under the truck too ? Mr Turnover is best left in some kelowna watering hole too I say let Erickson play forward and keep Lebda on the line with Lilja Bertuzzi is the Uber Turd Not trying to hyjack the thread by the way

3/13 GDT: Sabres 2 at Red Wings 3 (OT)

atdhe.net says they have it but not up yet Anyone???

3/9 GDT: Flames 4 at Red Wings 2

Lidstrom and Rafalski are better snatching pucks away on the rush and out manouvering guys with angles when things are moving but last nite as in all season when they have to hunker down and play a physical style in front of their own net things go awry #'s 5 and 28 on for 2 goals last nite and #'s 55 and 23 for the other two I expect better from the big four there's some fatigue out there that just won't go away even with the olympic break and even if we get in to the post season this team might get embarrassed badly looking like Sonny Liston when he met the much younger and faster Ali end of an era boys and we didn't see it coming !!

3/9 GDT: Flames 4 at Red Wings 2

you're not kidding ledba lilja was solid in the playoffs the last 2 years can't figure this one out Erickson needs to ponder life and hockey from the press box for a long time I'd be in the house that would designate him injury only to dress at this point my 2 cents worth
  14. clayjoh

    Who replaces Bert?

At this point in the season and presumably going into the playoffs we can't afford his indicresions in the defensive zone Lils and lebda have logged a lot of time together over the years and quite frankly at this point erickson should remain the odd man out on D barring injury to someone else
  15. clayjoh

    Who replaces Bert?

I posted this concept on the game day thread earlier hell he's useless on defense so lets see if we can turn him into a power forward worth a one or two game trial
  16. clayjoh

3/7 GDT: Red Wings 5 at Blackhawks 4

Now that bertuzzi is out who is the reserve forward currently on the roster??or does this immediatly neccessitate a call up from GR?? And I just throw this out there for discussion but Lil and Lebda works so why not consider Erickson as a power forward He might be able to hit someone while skating forward as opposed to his pathetic little man defense as of late wasn't he a forward as a youth when he was first scouted years ago?

February 9th - THE RETURN OF THE MULE!

you guys have to realize that franzen will be skating on eggshells for weeks even months after an injury of this magnitude ...also probably playing in a brace too ...so don't consider him a saviour for this season If we're lucky and he can get his game back in a month or two hw might be a factor in playoffs but as far as regular season he's just getting his wheels back

    Dear Babs:

You're spot on with that observation he's the new heir apparent to" cement hands Draper" Helm ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer either have you listened to a few interviews with him THe Red Wing mould of the last 15 years is slowly being whittled down I'm saddened by the state of the NHL today overall dumbass players being coached (largely) by dumbass coaches and lead by a sleazeball NYC lawyer protecting his owners

    Jonathan Ericsson Watch Thread

I think he needs to go to a Chris Pronger hockey school next summer He plays like a little man instead of a big man I wonder if he's bright enough to play on this team like a few other fellows of questionable intelligence on this team ....Bertuzzi..... did I say that?

    Pavel needs a friend

I'd love to see us pick up a Ruskie or two before the trade deadline to give Pavel someone to dangle dangle with At times he appears lonely and lately has been trying to do it "on his own " from time to time I hear tonight on the Senaors Columbus broadcast that Kovalev went home for his mother in law's funeral (now back) and has been as they say 'stinkin the joint out " generally this year we know he has the talent and could you imagine him with Pavel Would Ottawa be interested in a Bertuzzi and Lebda for Kovalev deal ? get rid of some dead wood and spark the remaining roster players to re engage Discuss I know his contract is fairly heavy dollar wise ....just debate in hypothetical terms

What needs to be improved after 2 games?

I thnk sadly enough that they are even at this point they're looking a bit weary of the whole process I hope I'm wrong but the prospect of over 100 games and practises added in, multiple road trips on Red Wing One has these guys already dreading the effort and perserverance reqd just to start the playoffs. throw in the olympics and it's a hell of a lot of hockey and the brief summer off just wasn't enough to rest their brains let alone their bodies also we assume everyone is healthy at season start but they speak of Z's groin already what of lidstrom's elbow,? Dat's wasn't exactly dominant out there either and get that knob Bertuzzi off this team He's a bum of the first degree this is going to be tough to watch till at least up to the olympics i wonder if we can keep up to the effort of all these up and comer teams
  22. clayjoh

    Bring in Kovalev

I know this guy has his detractors out there but I say he's fit in REAL good on the roster now 1 a big Russian buddy for Pavel with whom you'd assume they would light it up very nicely on the scoresheet 2 The real reason he took a bit of a vacation last year was his disgust at his other russian buddies slumming around Montreal with russian mob guys 3 he doesn't need to be a huge leader on this team we have plenty 4 He's more cerebral than lots of the pluggers out there also a good fit in the Red Wings room 5He would be taught how to play serious defensive hockey and be held accountable to do so over the course of a season 6 He has almost as good skills as Hossa when he decides to bring it I say go out and get him on a 2-3 year deal Discuss

    What's up with Ozzie?

Osgood was taken out because the Hawks would have in all liklihood taken "liberties" with him in the third plain and simple You guys put to much credence into the press bleatings esp this time of year To be frank I'm so sick of the blab by the print and TV media at this point I can hardly stand to listen to any of these talking heads anymore I can't stomach the endless analysis and point counterpoint these Larry's keep coming up with over and over Anyhow Osgood is fine they rested himand kept him out to prevent goon attacks that's all

Do we finally have our best lineup?

We'll hear again from Maltby before this run is over This may well turn into a swan song for him and Draper If we were to complete the mission as it were would there be pressure from management for Maltby and Draper to consider a new "role" for the team in 09-10 season ?? On a related topic will Holland ever break up the Swedish mafia via trade Doubtful in my opinion
  25. If Draper is healthy how can anybody think of not havin him and Maltby together these guys are fundamental cores of this team since the mid 1990's they have experienced and seen it all before and will give their all tonight keep Draper and Maltby together they'll get it done!!!!!!!!! I've just set up a shrine around the TV with the centerpiece being a jigsaw puzzle of the 1954 championship team with Lord Stanley's cup I channeling some serious karma this afternoon
