    Draper out 3 games (groin)

Update from Thursday's morning skate: Kris Draper will miss at least the next three games becuase of a slightly torn groin muscle. It happened during the western Canada trip a couple of weeks ago but wasn't detected until he had an ultrasound on Wednesday. Darren Helm, the player who's been compared to Draper, was recalled from Grand Rapids (AHL) last night and will make his NHL debut tonight against Dallas. Darren McCarty (rib cartilage inflammation) skated with the team for the first time since arriving from Grand Rapids last week but said he won't be available to play until next week, at the earliest. Jimmy Howard was recalled from the Griffins to back-up Chris Osgood tonight. Dominik Hasek is listed as day-to-day with a sore back. - Ive been to 3 Griffens games this year and Helm stood out the most .. speedy lil fawker with soft hands ... 6 ft 182lbs and hes 20 .. sweetness

    Pronger Has A Boo Boo

wah wah wah "It's pretty low, hitting a guy with a busted-up jaw or whatever," said Parros, who cited Eager and Blackhawks winger Rene Bourque as guilty parties, among others. "That's pretty classless, I'd say. There's a code of conduct out there, to some extent. You finish your checks on a guy. You don't ease up on him or anything like that, but extra shots or hands to the face, that's pretty low." - YAH b/c no one on your team does that "You expect to be protected out there, not only by the referees, but your teammates, and they did a great job," Pronger said. "George comes in and takes care of business, and we're able to kill off penalties like that. That's something that only makes us stronger and brings us together."

    Ericsson continues to impress

I like his game so far. Hes not overly physical, but he's not goin to be pushed around.. I say the knock i have on him as of right now is the fact he cant seem to get the puck out of the zone quickly enough.. seems to dump around boards to no one but hell hes only been playing d for what 3-4 years... Itll all come around its only his first time up

    DRW best/worst trade ever

Avery is a disturbance to the locker room and to veterens no matter what he does on the ice... Letting Lapointe walk was a good move .. he was commanding like 4 mill back then when he had his best year ... his contract year. .. i didnt like the wendal clark trade lol .. what the hell was that about .. CHELIOS trade was a steal! HASEK was the greatest though

    Re-signing our own

Some raises are going to be earned at the end of this season thats no doubt .. but how much for these guys? FLippula - .7 mill He's got less points then Hudler but plays a better 2-way game maybe offer: 1.25 - 1.75 2 yrs Cleary - .7 mill Labeled as inconsistent at times, but is the model/prototype Redwings. Stats comparable to Homer's but will demand more. offer: 3 - 3.5 3 years Downey - .525 I think he's worth what he gets. offer: .525 2 yrs Lilja - 1 mill Face it the mans leads in hits/block shots and is physical. Absent minded once in a while but a good D in the cap era. offer: 1.75 - 2.0 2/3 years Chelios - .850 I think his year to year value will go with age. offer: .800 - .850 1 yr Howard - .8 mill Tough one. How can you project something we've never really got a good look at. offer: 1.25 - 1.5 2 yrs . . this one is hard to figure in my eyes I didnt add Drake and Dom b/c of possible retirement. I think that gives us with the cap goin up 3 mill and only signing/bringing up a depth guy for drake (MAC!) like 5 mill to play with.. Thoughts ideas?

Hasek and Rafalski on IR - Ericsson & Hartigan Called Up

Well you shouldn't be worried .. Ralf skated today in practice but left when they got into physical play ... Dom is old .. putting them on IR isnt a bad thing .. The wings just need roster spots to bring up Hartigan and Ericksson..

O.K. article, just loved the last line

lazy liike me? good Unfortunately, the Red Wings will simply be the Red Wings if they don’t win the Stanley Cup. As great as this franchise has been over the last decade plus, many in hockey circles still think of them as a bunch that loses early in the playoffs. The Hockey News even had a question prior to last years playoffs asking, “Who will be this year’s Red Wings?” meaning which favorite will lose earlier than they should. The Pats were on the verge of history. The debate was already on in terms of their place in the football hierarchy. Their quarterback shows up on TMZ.com and Entertainment Tonight as much as he does on ESPN. They had become the Yankees of football, either beloved or hated. So their demise is almost a Greek tragedy for some. The Wings are just the best team in the league having another great season. As well as they’re playing though, there is no feeling that they are THAT much better than the rest. When the playoffs start, they will be the favorite to win, but you’ll hear from plenty going with the Ducks or the Senators as well. Plus, it’s hockey. The favorite tends to win in football. The favorite often loses in hockey because of a bad bounce or a hot goaltender. To put it simply, the Pats expected to win the Super Bowl. The Wings hope to win the Stanley Cup. That’s the key difference.

Greatest goal scorer of alltime: Pavel Bure

I used to hate bure so much it was nuts .. i always felt he was taking all the attention away from Feds in the mid ninties .. but bure was so fast and slick it was nuts .. and i have to say Russians are probaly my favorite players to watch .. in other news in August, 2007, a Russian court awarded Bure 67,000 rubles (Cdn $2,750) in a lawsuit he filed against British Airways after being forced to leave a plane. The pilot suspected Bure was a "soccer hooligan", and would not take off until Bure was escorted off the plane. ha

    Forsberg rejects Stars, Wings, Flames

I totally agree with you. I would be irrate if the Wings signed him to anything high. Mainly anything over 2 mil for him. Like you I am very fond of incentive based contracts. I think alot more players should be like this. IE Kronwall, he has not played a full season yet! At this point I would hae paid $3 mil for Broke Back Bert! I think Kronwall with the other 9% unemployed in michigan would be lineing up for his check from the state if that would have happend!
