1. He's played two games this year and was not bad in either, IMO. He played better than most of the players in our top 6. 2. He's played one game and he's already better than Howard? True, this was a bad game in regard to goals against, but you can't blame it all on Jimmy. The St. Louis game was another story. 3. Helm battles day in and day out when he's in the lineup. I'm guessing his back never fully healed like it was originally thought, but to say he is too fragile is quite a leap. He IS human, and it's not like he's Colaiacovo injury prone.. I'm honestly not trying to make excuses for anyone, but the extremes people go to on this site whenever the Wings have a bad (or good) game are kind of ridiculous. I mean it starts out Ericsson is garbage and doesn't deserve his salary and now he's our best put down D-man? I feel like there's a lot of bandwagon hate on this forum. Look at Emmerton, he's done nothing but play hard and create a ton of energy-and a few points- with Miller and Toots, yet the guys is pretty regularly trashed on. Some players just have bad games. To clarify, I am not saying there are not some people on this roster who have not met up to their expectations(or contract) or players who's time in Detroit should come to an end. I really have been disappointed with Kronner this year, he seems to have regressed to the point where I honestly don't think I would be too upset if he were moved for a good return. Cleary, I think, should be moved as he has become redundant. And I know I'm probably going to get burned alive for this one but...I think Quincey has just been hit with some really bad luck. He's got great potential and is a talented defenseman , I just think he's snake bitten. Anyway, I have strayed from my main point which is "bad games happen, and we live on".

At this point I'd be happier if he was paid 3M to sit on his couch than be on this team. Keep the Griffins boys in!

What the hell is up with all these close calls with too many men? I don't ever remember it being this bad, it seems like every game they are getting called or almost getting called for it.

Also, not so much with Vokoun. Howard (very much like Ozzie) is an extremely underrated goaltender. He is incredibly talented and IMO one of the more consistent players on our team. Just like the game against LA, he can bail the team out and carry them to a win if he has to. I'm genuinely curious what would make people happy enough to give the guy a little credit. He does a lot of the same things your "elite" goalies do; plays tons of games, makes great saves, can be counted on...what more does he need, a superstar cap hit? If he needs to make 7mil a year to be considered an "Elite" goalie, then I am happy with our "average" one.

I honesty don't know how you can compare the McLennan slash to this. I agree it's stupid and shouldn't be done, but that was a premeditated attack on Franzen. McLennan was on the ice for like forty-five seconds and he was hacking from the get-go. Franzen overreacted and speared Perron after he was checked from behind. In no way can you compare. Franzen should have turned around and clocked him though...

We also need secondary scoring. BIG TIME.
