I cringe every time people on this forum declare that the Wings will win something. Similar to how they were going to beat fartsburgh in game 6 at home in '09. You know...cuz that happened I am hardly one to be a spoil-sport, but I am a pretty firm believer in the saying "Don't count you chickens before they hatch". So..yeah, as far as I go, Wings might win 8th. They better work their butts off, too. Columbus deserves to be in the playoffs just as much (if not more than) as we do.

If this wasn't a home game I'd deduce that they stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night...

Happy Brunns got one. He looked like he wanted to hug Hank for that beautiful set up. Dekeyser has come on to this team and in my opinion has already become our second best D-man. The future looks bright for that guy.

They lack offense in general! Or, otherwise, the ability to capitalize on chances. I feel like we have a team of pass first players with the exception of Franzen and Brunner and unfortunately the latter is snake bitten as hell. I appreciate the work Abby has done on the first line, but his job is to be a third line grinder, and he excels at that job. We need a gritty top 6 player who isn't afraid to shoot the puck. It sucks because I really think Nash would have been the answer to our top 6 woes. He could have been paired up with Pav and Fil and Z could have been on the second line with Mule and Brunner. I am really hoping this offseason that Kenny goes after a Nash or Ryan type player. Offensive creativity is not the only way to score goals, sometimes you've got to just grind hard, power your way in and score that garbage goal. We could also work with who we already have in our system like, I don't know, TATAR MAYBE!! It kills me that he is not in this lineup and freaking Cleary is. That move alone might have had us in a different spot today. No disrespect to Cleary, but his time in Detroit should be over after this season.

I really thought this was the concept of a "rental" player....you know, you trade him to a playoff contender who needs short term assistance. It's not like he is a bad player, and he is definitely not worthless. I'm sure there was a place for him on someones team considering how high in demand defensemen are. Like I said, a 5th round pick is better than nothing. I think Lash > Smith, defensively...significantly, and Smith > Lash Offensively.

god, every time the topic of our D is brought up it really pisses me off that we didn't trade White. If he's not going to play then why keep him? I mean even a 5th round pick is better than another filled seat in the press box. Smitty and Lashoff should split the last spot. Then again, I thought Cola looked pretty goo din the couple games he did play.
