Lol. Well you did say it was the 13th game, so you did know what game it was. Your math was just off.
Cleary is a superstar
Seriously pulled 13 out of my ass, I've missed so many games. But I did the math like Cleary MISSED 13, either way you are right an my math iz bad.
I don't have a beautiful mind like some LGWers.
Besides, I just wanted to yell at somebody, so get off my back, aight!?

70. 82-12=70
Oops, couldn't remember which game dis wuz. But good math thanks you.

Just so everyone knows, Cleary is now on pace to score 82 pts... jus sayin
Isn't this like the 13th game of the season?
So he's on pace for a 69pt season, get your s*** together!
-
s***ty officiating both ways that game. Was surprised Helm didn't get a matching embellishment penalty there.
Glad we came out with a W on this one, but the NHL really needs to look into fixing its officiating problem...

I swear to Talos, the number 90 is cursed for the Wings.
Hope he finds his game and gets his s*** together so we can start getting a return on that big contract.

I think it's a totally outside shot, and not likely, but I just have this feeling he'd really rise to it. I can't quantify why at all, though.
I agree completely.

I picked Smith to swap an A with Abby because he seems to be stepping in the right direction both confidence and performance-wise, and as he's done so it seems like he's become more vocal with the team. I dunno, if we're talking the better part of a decade then I think it's possible for him to become "third" alternate material.
Didn't Datsyuk, Cheli, and Draper kind of juggle the A around for a year or two? Or am I crazy?

Two words:
HAMPUS
MELEN
Nope, Mark Mowers is makin' a comeback, baby!

I've been waiting a long time for someone to make this thread.
Hands down I believe DeKeyser will be the captain of this team after Z retires. Michigan boy, hell of a player, and he has a great work ethic. Plus he was captain at WMU, I believe, so he's been in the leader role before.
C- Dekeyser
A- Nyquist
A- Smith/Abby
I could see Mantha getting an A if he pans out. He composes himself very well for someone so young. Same with Oullet and Sproul.
Very excited for the next generation of Wings!
Nastasiuk shows a lot of promise as a Draper-type leader as well, imo.

Congrats on your 10 year anniversary btw!
Enjoy the game. Hopefully the boys will pull off a win for you guys.

He's the master at drawing goaltender interference. He's had multiple goals waived off because he initiates contact with the player.
Naturally I couldn't find it on TSN's website anymore (404 not found) but Kerry Fraser wrote a piece on Price's exploiting the rule.
In the clip Price trips the Tampa player, then throws himself into the player again at the far post.
Wow, that call was brutal.
Hey, at least there's going to be a list of known divers in the NHL! =D

I am on the boarder with Tatar being tradeable. He has potential but I just dont see him having the finishing touch necessary to be a top 6 guy.
I still think he will turn out to be a good top 6 winger, I just think it will take him another season or two to really cement himself as a legit NHL winger. I think trading him would be a bad idea.
But I agree about his inability to finish these first few games. He's been trying to make too many moves and it seems like he shoots when he should pass and dekes when he should shoot. The season is young, luckily. He'll find his game.

Tats and Jurco need to find their offensive games so we can get some secondary scoring.

And we're back to being last years team.
What, by getting bent over by the refs? This game should've been 2-0 Wings, maybe 2-1. ******* joke.

What do people think about Z going forward? I mean should we put him on Dats' wing again. It seems to me that the setup ability needs to be used to it's fullest and have him at center like tonight. But that does create the problem of who plays wing with Dats because I like that line of Mule-Z-Nyquist.
Tough call because that Tatar-Sheahan-Jurco line is really good, but after watching the preseason I kind of want to see Tats a Pav on a line together again. Z's line should stay just the way it is.

Q actually playing like a top 4 D-man was pretty nice to see. Also, Kindl wasn't looking too bad. Hopefully upping his trade value.
Z was on a mission tonight and Goose is on pace for an 82 goal season!
Great game, boys.

First, the whole point was that I wouldn't move him for Myers - I do see him as a piece this team needs (ie: value relative to defenders on the team). I understand his value to the team.
I see Tatar as more of a "catch and release" type player, rather than someone who is going to drive the play. If he can put up 60 points, he's still within the top 60 players in the league in terms of point production. I don't think that's insulting, or cutting him short. I think he's going to make an excellent complimentary winger. He's got great hands in tight, and releases the puck as well as anyone on this team.
I do think, however, that he's going to wind up being a 2nd line player on this team. I see Nyquist, Mantha and Jurco as player who all have higher ceilings than he does. Perhaps I'm wrong, and that's fine... but I really do see him as a complimentary guy. I think he's in the same company as Ryan O'Reilly, Voracek and Oshie - all great players, but maybe not ones regarded as superstars.
I do agree about the small sample to judge his potential. Considering there hasn't been enough time to accurately gauge his production in the future, I'd say there's no way to say he'd top out as a 1st line 70-80 point guy, either. Basically, I just feel that what I see from him hints at him being a complimentary winger, not a superstar. Either way, it's all conjecture at this point.
I agree that it's conjecture and I do not think yours was unfair or insulting, I hope I did not come off that way. I just wanted to see where you guys were coming from since you believe he'll top off as a 50-60 point scorer. Honestly, I don't think you're far off; I think he will be in the 60-70 pt per year. I just wanted your perspective.
Either way, I wouldn't want him to be traded, especially for Myers.
-
I like Tatar and all. But realistically he will be maybe a 50-60 point player, which is pretty good. But if you could get a giant dman for Tatar that could possibly put up similar numbers why wouldn't you?
When I look at Tatar, I do see a guy who tops out at that 50-60 point mark, but I also see a feisty player willing to go to the hard parts of the ice. He plays bigger than he is, and the guy exudes passion. When I think of Tatar and his potential, it's not a matter of "if" but when. I'd rather keep the commodity I know about over the one I'm not sure is going to return to form.
First off I would like to say that I am in no way starting a fight or crapping on your opinions, but I would sincerely like to know how you assess Tatar to "top out" at a 50-60 point scorer. Was it from his one full season in the NHL?
To put it in perspective:
Datsyuk' stats from his first season were 70GP 11-24-35
Tatar's stats were 73GP 19-20-39
Those stats are pretty similar, and I'm pretty sure no one thought Datsyuk would turn out to be our franchise center and arguably one of the most talented/innovative payers in the game. I am not comparing the two in skill, but my point remains. I know it feels like we've been talking about Tats forever, but last season was the first time he suited up for over 20 games and, honestly, he was pretty impressive IMO. I'd say give it another full season (or two) before we cap him off as a second line winger.
I'm not saying that its not a realistic assessment or that it won't turn out that way, but I don't feel like there's really been enough time to accurately gauge the player he will become.
My personal opinion? I am on the same boat with some others on this forum who would consider him an "untouchable" (barring some crazy deal, of course) and a valuable asset to this team and its future.
Honestly, as far as Myers goes, if it's gonna cost us the likes of Tatar, Jurco, or Sheahan plus a pick and a high level prospect, I hope Holland just walks away. Would I love him and his desperately needed right-handed shot on this team? Hell yes. But at the cost rumors are claiming it would take to get him? No way. I would rather have Sproul/ Marchenko/Jenson on this team, before trading one of them for Myers.

Its official...Kindl is so bad Babs has resorted to double shifting Smith. May god have mercy on our souls.
Also, HOCKEY'S BACK!!!

The roster moves have pissed people off so much that they're experiencing hallucinations involving talking dogs. Way to go, Kenny.
Its exactly what he wanted.
Yes...yes...the plan is coming together quite nicely.

I actually let myself believe Ouellet would beat out Kindl. The rest was expected, but no XO is very disappointing.

So uhhh...was there a contest I missed that allowed a fan to dress up as Nyquist and play in a preseason game for the Wings?

yikes smith tonight so far has been not so good.
I thought Smitty was ok that period. But Kindl? Not good at all.

Brodeur is so hot right now he could take a crap, wrap it in tinfoil, put a couple fish hooks on it and sell it to Queen Elizabeth as earrings
