The SEC proved their dominance over the Big10 again tonight.

As much as I hate Florida, all that needs to be said is 41-14.

    Ripping on Nashville Fans!

I'll try my best to give you my thoughts on this whole thing. First, I agree with hawkupaloogie's comparison between Preds fans and fans of a college sport. Nashville is in the South, duh. Tennessee is home to two SEC schools. The SEC is arguably the greatest conference in the NCAA (All you PAC-10 fans can bite me ). If you've ever been to an SEC football or basketball game, you know how crazy and obnoxious the fans can get. I guess maybe that attitude just crossed over when NHL hockey came to Nashville. I personally don't partake in the chants, but I don't mind the fans that do. It creates a great atmosphere. If you've ever been to a sold out game at the Nashville Arena, you can't deny that the place is rockin'. I don't see why it's such a bad thing. I promise you that most fans don't really think that Chelios sucks. He's a veteran NHL defenseman. Obviously, he doesn't suck (Although I wouldn't mind if he kept is mouth shut more often, but the same thing goes for Arnott). The chants add to a competitive atmosphere. Hockey is not a sport like golf or tennis. It's OK to be loud. Let the ref know that you think he sucks. Especially if it's Mick McPoo. I know some of you wish the Joe was louder. I sat next to a Wings fan at the last game here and we had a great talk. We just talked hockey the whole game. He told me how impressed he was by how loud the arena was. He wished that the Joe had more fans that were willing to lose their inhibitions and be more vocal. Don't forget that hockey is a game, people. It's meant to be fun. Take everything that fans say with a grain of salt...they're just enjoying themselves and supporting their team. Oh...and...Red Wings suck!

OFFICIAL Lets Go Oilers Thread of 3/27

Hordichuk's misconduct was bogus. Smith was pulling on his jersey, using all of his weight, and the tie down just snapped. Expect the Predators to send in the footage and have the misconduct voided. I hope Timonen is OK. We can't afford another injury...it's at the point now where it's just ridiculous.

Yea I understand the terminology. It's the same for the NCAA basketball tournament. I just find myself sometimes referring to both as Final Four/Frozen Four tournaments. I'm no newbie to College Hockey though. I've followed Maine and Cornell since I was little and now Wisconsin since Blake Geoffrion grew up playing in the same league as me.

I really miss those Nashville Knights/Ice Flyers/Knighthawks games. You were guaranteed a good brawl just about every game. We had season tickets for as long as I can remember.

Youth hockey has really caught fire ever since the Predators came to Nashville. I graduated high school in 2005. Before the Predators came in 1998, there were only 5 or so high school teams and it wasn't really competitive. Currently there are 18 high schools in Nashville with teams. It's pretty crazy to think about how quickly it caught on. High School hockey is now very competitive in Nashville and the fan support by students is awesome. The state tournament just ended. The top 2 teams (the regular season champion and the Nashville tournament championship) go to the state tournament and face the top teams from Memphis and Knoxville. The top 2 teams from that tournament play for the Predators Cup at the Nashville Arena before that night's Preds game. The winner of that game is the state champion. One of the teams from Nashville won. Hockey is definitely becoming rooted in Nashville and it's an exciting thing to be a part of. There are also several college teams in the area. Vanderbilt, Belmont, Lipscomb, and UT all have teams. Middle Tennessee State University has one of the premier ACHL teams in the country, I think. And of course there is an abundance of youth and men's leagues. We currently have 5 sheets of ice and I think there are plans to build more. OH and did anyone see the University of Alabama-Huntsville / Notre Dame game? That was crazy! It's pretty amazing to see a team from ALABAMA in the Frozen Four tournament! And for them to lose 3-2 in Double OT to a top seeded team is pretty incredible!

I agree completely. There's really no excuse for Tootoo's punch. And although Modano shouldn't have swung his stick, especially with all the crap that's been going on in the league recently, it wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be. Relax. I'm not really sure what that has to do with how long I've followed hockey. But I started playing inline hockey when I was 6 years old and then switched to ice hockey when I was 8. I started in the House leagues and started playing travel hockey. Then I played for my high school and now I play for my college's club level team.

Still not seeing any personal jabs. Yep...I told someone to STFU. It was a stupid comparison. I was just wondering if he supported Bertuzzi before he donned a Wings jersey. Nothing personal.

Sure I do. I love the energy he brings as soon as he touches the ice. I love to see Tootoo knock someone on their ass with a big hit, even though he misses probably about 40% of his hits. But I don't support punching someone in the face when they're not expecting it. The same goes for Scott Nichol and Todd Bertuzzi. I was the defenseman on my high school team that was there to lay the big hits on people, so I respect what they do and I love a good scrum...but when you cross the line like they did, it's just not acceptable in my book.

What Tootoo did was WRONG. W-R-O-N-G. I've said numerous times that I don't support what Tootoo did in the least bit. I was simply describing the situation to whoever asked.

What "personal comment and jabs" have I made at people, other than asking if someone was a homer? I believe I was the one who was accused of "bending my sister" over last night. But whatever.

Tootoo laid a clean check on Modano and as Tootoo was getting up, Robidas was charging towards him. The puck was now at the other end of the ice. Tootoo sensed that he was about to get hit by a freight train, and he instinctively threw a punch. Robidas never saw it coming and was out cold for a good while. LOL
  14. ProudestMonkey

hockey night in canada blasts tootoo

Yea. You're right. I'm sure Robidas was just going to ask Tootoo what was going on. "Hey, man. Did you just check Modano? Oh ok....cool. Yea...that's what I thought. OK...see you later." And yes, Nichol did the same thing. And it was just as bad as Bertuzzi's incident. Both Spacek and Moore should have been facing their attackers, but they weren't. Just because someone doesn't face you like a man, you still don't have the right to blindside them from behind. I'll bet you that neither Spacek nor Moore had any idea that they were about to be clocked from behind. I really don't know why you're so upset. I'm not condoning what Tootoo did. I'm just saying that you cannot compare the two incidents because the roles of the attackers were completely reversed. And I would bet that happens very soon. And he will probably deserve every punch he takes as well.

hockey night in canada blasts tootoo

Bertuzzi punched Moore in the temple for behind as Moore was skating away. Moore had no idea what he was getting into. Robidas was charging full speed at Tootoo with two hands on his stick. Tootoo was the one defending himself. Robidas was the one who was going at Tootoo. Bertuzzi was the one who ATTACKED Moore. Had Moore sensed Bertuzzi attacking him, turned around and knocked Bertuzzi out cold, THEN you could compare the two incidents. Are you the biggest Homer in the world or did you defend Bertuzzi before he was a wing? I'm not saying what Tootoo did was the right thing, but the two incidents are COMPLETELY different. I highly doubt you will find anyone who agrees with what you are trying to say.

hockey night in canada blasts tootoo

Oh my dear God. Are you ******* serious? You are really going to tell me that Tootoo punching Robidas in the face is the same as Bertuzzi punching Moore in the back of the head and then beating him from behind as he lay on the ice? Words can't express how ******* stupid that comparison is. Robidas was the one skating at Tootoo, not vice versa. Maybe you need to see Bertuzzi's incident again. http://youtube.com/watch?v=LjdS8SDc37s

hockey night in canada blasts tootoo

Agreed. The Bertuzzi comments are old. I was just trying to make a comparison. I'm just trying to say that Tootoo hasn't come close to doing anything like the incident with Bertuzzi or McSorely. It is unfortunate that Bertuzzi is a great player, yet will always be known for that one time when he snapped. You're all right about Tootoo not being a goal scorer. He probably never will be known as an offensive contributor. But at the same time, you have to give the kid credit for understanding that. He's made sure that he will continue playing in the NHL by bringing something else to the table with his intensity and hard hits. He's a human bowling ball. We love him and other teams hate him. I understand why and I don't expect anyone to like him. But to talk about being banned is just ridiculous.

hockey night in canada blasts tootoo

First, if you want to have an intelligent discussion, lose the ******* stereotypes. Do you know how easy it would be to call you an impoverished crackhead? Because that's the stereotype associated with Detroit. Learn how to not be ignorant ******. Thanks. Next, your reasoning is that Bertuzzi isn't the same because he only had one incident? Yea? Well in that one incident he broke a man's ******* neck while he was face down on the ice. One is all it takes, my friend. And until Tootoo does something even remotely close to what Bertuzzi did, kindly STFU. Once again, I hate it when Tootoo leaves his feet and I don't get excited when I see a cheap shot made by him or by anyone else for that matter. But anyone who says that Tootoo doesn't belong in the NHL or should be banned or is a no talent ass clown is just sadly mistaken. Tootoo is a valuable asset and significant liability to the Predators at the same time. Tootoo does a great job at drawing penalties by getting under people's skin. And apparently he has done a good job with most of you as well.

hockey night in canada blasts tootoo

Tootoo should be banned? Seriously? I'd love to hear your thoughts on your recently acquired Todd Bertuzzi. A man will no longer lace up his skates because of what Todd Bertuzzi did. And TOOTOO should be banned? Get bent.

I guess people from South Carolina don't use apostrophes. If you're going to be a true grammar nazi, you might want to make sure your sentences are perfect as well. I agree with whoever said that Tootoo would be a fan favorite if he played for the Wings. I don't agree with everything he does, but he brings an energy to the team like no other player can.

    Nashville ... Catfish?

I think the catfish were thrown on Tuesday just to get the crowd/maybe even the team pumped up. I've been to a Preds/Wings game in Nashville before where a Wings fan threw an octopus on the ice right before the Wings were about to lose. I guess if you bring slimy seafood in your pants, you've got to get rid of it win or lose.

3/14 GDT: Predators @ Red Wings

Wow...I just realized how stupid I looked. I completely flubbed that quote up. I was quoting EZBAKETHAGANGSTA...he said something about me being a Nashville redneck ( he has now edited his post, saying it was innappropriate...glad to see that). But I accidently quoted WingsLogo. Wow, I look like a jackass. Sorry, WingsLogo...Maybe Nashville fans are idiots after all . Very interesting, indeed. I'll have to talk to my professor from freshman year about that haha. More on this subject for anyone who cares (probably not many haha) http://www.copyrightauthority.com/poor-mans-copyright/

3/14 GDT: Predators @ Red Wings

I'm going to to SXSW this weekend, actually...I can't wait. I'm studying Music Business at Belmont University in Nashville, if that wasn't evident by my previous post. From what I've seen, most people here are civil. That's what I've been saying...hockey talk is all I want...none of this socioeconomic propaganda.

3/14 GDT: Predators @ Red Wings

Dude...I was just trying to roll with the punches. A poor man's copyright is when you mail the song to yourself through the United States Postal Service. If there is a copyright infringement you can just show your unopened, postmarked song in a court of law. I was just trying to show that us rednecks in Nashville actually know some stuff. Chillax. And as a season ticket holder, I'm not aware of any songs that make fun of Detroit. I'd love to know what the lyrics were though ...it might just be my new favorite song. And I get it, guys...This is a DETROIT RED WINGS BOARD. I'm not trying to take anything away from you or the fact that you won tonight (and last night, for that matter ). All I'm saying is that the stereotypes from both sides are completely innacurate and full of s***. I'm all about giving Detroit fans Hell...don't get me wrong. But at least have the decency to keep the economical / social inaccuracies to a minimum.
