wow....holy crap can a break go the way of the Wings?!??

Yeah - in the 3rd period when it was already 4-2 BJs......they didn't play well enough to beat the LA Kings in the 1st 2 periods however. And tonight is no different. I realize a bunch of big guns are out but the absolute lack of fire this team is showing is not exactly what I expected to see, ESPECIALLY since Columbus took it to them on Sunday.

Oh I know. You want to know one of the many reasons why Ozzie looked so much better than Dom did yesterday? lilja et. al looked a ton better and played a LOT tighter than they started. I should have included that. But in the end that game was lost more due to the breakdowns on defense than anything else. Dom could have possibly gotten one of the other goals, but it would have been Dom from his Buffalo days, not 42 year old Dom - he just doesn't have that explosion anymore like that. That said, Columbus seems to have Detroit's number for whatever reason. The crowds are much more electric when it is Detroit than any other team except MAYBE Trashville.

Not really. I was at the game. The only goal that was really his fault was the last one. the other 3 were combinations of errors ranging from Lilja not putting people on the ice with a sissy-ass hip bump (I refuse to call that garbage a check) on the 3rd goal to the defensemen completely forgetting where Malhotra was....it was bad, especially through 2 periods. But that 3rd period looked more like the Wings I had expected to show up. Overall if they play this inconsistently they'll get swept in the 1st round, but they have the talent and if they play big they can beat anyone. The intensity was really really lacking at the beginning too. At this time of the year that can't be a good thing either.

damn I know, I was able to make all these trades for nothing on NHL 2008 so dammit Holland should too.... Seriously get a damned grip people.

Pittsburgh is ok until the playoffs start. they have shaky goal-tending right now (unless you believe in Ty Conklin) and they really could have used another servicable or even top 4 defenseman. Unless they planning to win playoffs 5-4, it isn't going to work for them and they paid through the nose.

I just don't get all the drama LLAMA crap that I'm seeing here. Sure Stuart isn't exactly the guy I would have wished for, but it's a tough market this year for whatever reason. The cap is going up this off-season, the Wings still have room and their prospects. Besides if Lids was healthy and this team still on a roll like they were earlier this year, would there be any doubt even now who the best team in the league is? Let it play out. The NHL playoffs are excellent for a reason.

I don't get columbus and their front office sometimes. They have a gaping hole at Center, they have one of the best young superstars in Rick nash and another guy who could get there in zherdev, but they didn't do squat except give up on the season. Oh well for them I guess.....makes me think that maybe hockey isn't long for columbus or something. Brad Stuart isn't exactly who I was hoping for, but Holland likely has his finger on the pulse of the team AND he likely knows the nitty gritty details of the Lidstrom injury. I hope it works but I would have loved to have gotten Hossa.....

Peca ends up in Columbus.... Probably not the player they need, but he's a step up over guys like Zherdev or Svitov....

As someone who has the unfortunate location to get all of the Blue Jackets games on TV here in Ohio, Zherdev is absolutely the WRONG person to attempt to bring to Detroit. He's EXTREMELY soft....Think Lang but much much much worse. He doesn't play defense (he had Fedorov there specifically for that purpose, but never improved) He does NOT take well to criticism from either coaches, players or the media and believe me the Columbus hockey media is tame compared to Detroit. He has million dollar talent and a 10 dollar head. Not the type of guy really anyone needs and when his current contract is up he'll go back to Russia in all likelihood. His work ethic sucks and will never get any better. Hitchcock is a tough coach to play for by all accounts, but Babs isn't that much different. The guy is a cancer in the locker room as well. Not good for team chemistry. Svitov was another locker room cancer who had talent but no real motivation to improve himself or his teammates. He'd actually skate hard in the games, something Zherdev never does, but Svitov doesn't have near the talent Zherdev does.

If that ends up being our lineup, this will be the year that the Wings take their step back. Now I could definitely see a trade happening given all the defensive depth, but a top 6 forward would be a HUGE find at this point.

no s***... if this ******* team had half the heart and gave even a quarter of the effort Hasek has shown tonight, it wouldn't ******* be 4-1 right now.

They have a good young core of players to build around. But guys like Calder and Bertuzzi and Lang gotta go. It's time to rebuild. The talent is still there to make the playoffs, but the time is now to rebuild. Unless you'd rather be teased for the next 10 years and waste both Zetta's and Dats' primes......

Well I'm glad this is over..... and please myopians, don't act like I'm a horrible fan because I can see the reality of the situation. they didn't show up - they are playing like s*** in a friggin ELIMINATION GAME, show no passion, no heart, it's time to pack it in. Time for some new blood.

This post seriously makes me wonder when the Wings fanbase become so ******* whiny.... Seriously, the refs are going to call penalties, it's part of the ******* game. Of more concern is the lack of effort being shown by the Wings tonight.

This team isn't going anywhere this year....much less next year. Time for some new blood.

because he's not getting any younger and the Wings most certainly need to get younger.....that'd be one reason, not mine BTW, he's on the only one with any passion right now....

it'd be nice if this vaunted Power Play would actually get a goal.....
