Might as well - if Detroit is willing to let them goon it up and take stupid penalties, let them. When they react, Detroit gets guys like Franzen in the box. -
If Bert is on this roster next year Holland seriously needs to go.

I'd take Kesler. He would add speed to this team that it desperately lacks, and he isn't a floater. I wish Manny Malhotra was still playing. Having him center the 4th line would be a nice addition for solid checking and defense if nothing else.

Was it a "bad" hit 10 or even 5 years ago? Probably not. But with the emphasis on leaving your feet while conducting a hit and head shots in general, it is a bad hit "now". Abby got two games. He's lucky that's all it was - if there was any logical progression of punishments for hits, after the clean Gryba hit got two games, Abby might have gotten four after all. -

Young teams are like that sometimes....seriously if they cull out the deadwood this off-season, get a good scorer and a solid #2 or #3 d-man to pair up with Kronner or Dekeyser, this team could seriously go places I think.... -

It's just like it always is when this team isn't scoring - they are possessing the puck, but it's all on the edges. There is NOTHING going on down low. Basically every Red Wings team that has lost in the playoffs (minus the Colorado Series in 1996 and the New Jersey SCF in 1995) has done the same stupid thing over and over and over again. -

LOL good luck getting "answers", as if the NHL's disciplinary actions are or were ever considered answerable to the fans. Just get over it already and focus on the game at hand - it's over and done with. Mistakes were made. It happens. One doesn't lead into another, this isn't the WWE. -

I think it's more of a product of a frustrating year with a marginal team that is now losing one of its most physical players at a time when it needs all hands on deck. This Wings team already lacked physicality, and with Abby out, they'll basically have none. -

IF Gryba got 2 games for a clearly clean hit that didn't hit the head, Abdelkader is going to get at least 2 for what was clearly a high hit. The other key is Abdelkader left his feet. That's almost an automatic suspension now. -
