I look at it this way - if there was no Lidstrom when Stevie retired, the C likely would have gone to Z right then and there. Nothing has really changed since then, but having Lidstrom as Captain has been excellent as well.

I don't know if I'd compare it to Wings-Avs from back in the day, but this was fun as hell to watch. If the NHL had a bit more of this (maybe not 300 minutes in penalties, but more willingness to fight it out a bit) MAYBE this league wouldn't be rivaling the MLS in the ratings...

Unless the Wings are involved I'll always watch college football over the NHL and especially if Crysby and Overratedechkin are involved. Umm how about no.... And now why exactly would the BJs trade a player with Filatov's potential to the best team in the division? Do you REALLY think this is even anywhere near the realm of possibility to be considered? besides, having seen Filatov play, he's great when he has space, and he had space for about a week this year. He sucks when he's rushed to the point that he has quit on the play multiple times and has been sent down to their AHL affiliate. The Wings don't need that type of player at all. Beyond that, I'm not even really sure he's going to be any better than Nik Zherdev. And he's just as big a liability on the defensive end too.

hey I know, let's take more slappers from bad angles and wrist shots while the shooter is even with the goal line....those always go in.... Or, possibly, they just haven't found their groove yet and are going through a "dead legs" period to start the season. As bad as they've been they were just as good in the first two games. I'd like to note that while they did lose 4-1, they were able to limit the number of chances Dallas got. I think that type of game plan will be a winner more often than not. Patience everyone.

Given this repetitive garbage with Ovie - Crysby and that this is going to be played on New Year's Day, if the college football season works out in such a way, this game may not even be the most watched in Pittsburgh, much less during that day. College Football is king on New Years' Day unless something truly extraordinary is occurring. This won't be anything more than an outdoor hockey game. Count me out - I'll be watching college football on 3 TVs and two laptops.
