10/24 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Avalanche 3

IF Howard was bad tonight, I'll take that kind of bad for 82 games. Get a grip. Tonight was NOT on Howard. In no way, shape or form can this loss be laid at his feet.

0 for 7 on the goddamn power play. That was the game right there. Howard probably wants that one back, but 2 goals should NEVER beat the Detroit Red Wings.

    toothless power play tonight

hell at this rate the AVs might as well keep the march to the penalty box going because the Wings can't put one home it seems.... I think the entire team is a bit snake-bitten right now. The defense finally plays a B or B+ game and now the offense can't do squat.

ouch Foote took that one in the ear....
  13. hell this is the first team since 1995 that should be playing MUCH better and will have had to develop an identity by the END of the season versus what they had coming into the season. We have seen that already. 3 blown 2 goal leads (or is it 4?). A team that by turns is overly-aggressive and then not aggressive enough. They'll come around. But he's right, it's going to take time. They aren't going to win 50 games this year in the regular season and 100 points is the goal in any case.

    Frolov to the Wings?

Frolov to the Wings isn't happening anyway, but when he says your wild assed guess at a trade and it's a trade that ONLY benefits the Wings isn't going to happen, you should take off the homer glasses.

    Le retour des Nords?

I think that will all depend on who is the lucky SOB who gets to fix the mess Buttman has the league in. If it's a traditional hockey guy, I think the entire "conference" structure may be re-arranged so that the east and west thing may disappear entirely. I'd also like to see a return to the named divisions instead of the geographically aligned divisions.

    Le retour des Nords?

Yeah that's great, quote the NYSlimes I know you don't believe me. I know I don't really give a good goddamn. Columbus isn't going anywhere and the city is actually doing just fine in this economy - I don't care if you want to believe it or not. And yes you CLEARLY stated the "banking sector was doing hot" and implicitly tied Nationwide into that mess. As for Wendy's, it is still maintaining it's corporate presence in Columbus to a certain extent. That was part of the deal with the Thomas family. Ohio State and South Florida are continually flipping back and forth for who is actually #1 in total full time student attendance. And if you think CBJ fans are going to convert to hamilton fans AND ACTUALLY GO TO GAMES you need to smoke more of that funny s*** they sell out there on the leftist coast Thanks for playing.

    Le retour des Nords?

Again if you don't know the city, you shouldn't comment. Wendy's and Tim Horton's was bought by Arby's but they are still maintaining a very strong presence in the city itself at least corporately. And Nationwide is doing just fine, especially since they are STILL HIRING. And it should be noted they aren't just a banking institution (again that whole not knowing what you're talking about thing). Columbus hasn't been as affected by this economic downturn as a lot of other cities have been. There is a large and growing FedGov installation, Wright Patterson AFB isn't that far off, and you have the nation's 2nd largest public University sitting about 5 miles north of the arena.

    Le retour des Nords?

It won't. How often, if ever, have you been to Columbus? If they lose the BJ's now, that will turn off the entire city minus the Pittspuke and Detroit fans on the NHL. They won't be driving the entire way around Lake ******* Erie AND crossing an International border to see a friggin hockey game. Get real.

    Le retour des Nords?

You're smoking some seriously good stuff if you think Columbus BJs fans are going to convert to Hamilton fans

10/17 GDT: Avalanche 4 at Red Wings 3, (SO)

first let me start off by getting a hearty f*** COLORADO off my chest. As miller said, if the Wings stay out of the box and STAY AGGRESSIVE on the defensive end, they should beat Colorado.

    Le retour des Nords?

Explain how? A team in Hamilton might shove them to the Eastern Conference and probably nearly guarantee a playoff spot with the team they currently have....
  22. BuckeyeWingsfan80

    Le retour des Nords?

ummm guys Columbus isn't going anywhere. Columbus, unlike a few other places, has the corporate support needed due to Wendy's/Tim Horton's and Nationwide. I think Dallas may be a candidate to move if their owner's money troubles continue, Florida is always a possibility as is, obviously, Phoenix. But columbus isn't moving anywhere (physically) anytime soon. They MIGHT move to the Eastern Conference in the next 2-3 years if other moves pan out, but still...

Amazing goal by a 9 year old...

I remember distinctly Williams doing an on-purpose whiff shot during an OT shootout last year for the BJs....

    Coaching change idea

No. Not really. I'm not usually one to jump on one bandwagon or the other when it comes to intra-forum musings, but it's been much more than 5 games. It's been, by my count, 82 regular season games, 4 against Columbus, 7 against Anaheim, 5 against Chicago and 7 against Pittsburgh. That, 110 total. The system isn't working. The players have played very well within a system that works before and I don't think they've lost that much. Therefore the first place to start is the coaching. Maybe they need a different voice saying the same things, maybe a motivator or a better instructor. Whatever. The point is what is going on isn't working and HASN'T worked in over a full season plus now. time for a change.

10/13 GDT: Red Wings, 2 at Sabres, 6

until this team solves it's two year long rectal-cranial inversion, games like this will be somewhat more frequent. Hello 6 seed at best. With or without Franzen.
