Remember when Wings fans didn't constantly ***** about the refs? Yeah me neither....

told you all this one isn't over yet - Columbus doesn't know how to step on teams' throats when they have them down.

Columbus ran out of gas against the Rags when I went last Friday and didn't even show up against the Isles on Sunday. This one isn't over yet, the CBJ don't know how to close out games.

It is rather nice to have an NHL team that hosts actual games within a 30 minute drive - but they can beat other teams and not the Wings tonight..... And....s***.

    Howard = Average

There is only one goalie EVER who would look above average behind this sieve of a defense and his name was Hasek. Howard isn't the problem. Sure it would be nice if he could steal a few more games here and there, but it would also be nice if the Wings could score more than 1-2 goals a game and limit the stupid mistakes in front of him every once in a while too.

3/11 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Blue Jackets 4

That's part of it - Columbus has always played Detroit tough. I watch more Columbus games than I do Red Wings because I live in Columbus. They look entirely different on the ice and on TV than they did even 3 years ago.

dude this game sucks but this isn't the past decade's columbus team anymore. These guys are good now and getting better as guys like Anisimov and Dubinsky and all those players gain experience.

Mrazek is going to make Howard expendable in a couple years but he's not ready quite yet.

Yes - teams always have injuries. Hell just Columbus has only a couple less man-games lost than Detroit does... And s***....unfortunately this is the type of game that Columbus excels in, close physical type games. It is decidedly not the type of game that Detroit wins without Z and D. man....

Can't remember the last time we were this pathetic

For s***zburgh, Malkin hasn't been playing much and has been dinged all year, yet they are probably the best team in the conference along with all of their d-men being hurt. Tampa isn't doing better than the Wings, but when they were at full strength, they were playing better than the Wings did. Boston has several role players out along with losing Horton to columbus and with Thornton being a moron, they're even shorter. Columbu is missing its Vezina winner, Gaborik hasn't played in over a month, Horton hasn't played this season, Wisniewski hasn't played in a week and now Prout is out. Yet they've crept back into the playoff hunt. Detroit isn't the only team with injuries. It's an excuse to complain about something everyone else has to deal with. The issue is Detroit's depth isn't very good or hasn't really played at the NHL level and is therefore inexperienced. That's entirely on the GM. And here: http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/injuries

    Can Detroit turn things around?

Sure - they can absolutely turn things around. The olympic break is going to be huge for an old team like the wings are in total. Also - the East sucks. It isn't like they're in the West and will be buried with 20 games to play. No one except for Montreal and Pittspuke are more than above average.

Can't remember the last time we were this pathetic

s***zburgh Columbus Boston Tampa There's only one team that list that Detroit is better than at full strength (Columbus). Yet all of them are playing better than the Wings are with many key pieces for each team that is out.

Injuries or not, the players who are being called up need to contribute. Other teams have injuries yet, they are pressing on. The roster and farm system isn't producing the talent needed to win in the NHL. That falls entirely at Hollands' feet.

    Zetterberg placed on LTIR

This is what happens when you have a ton of older players. As much as it pains me to say it, Z and Dats are older players now. I'd be surprised if he comes back before the Olympics.

Mike Commodore's experience with the Wings

Being here in Columbus - the guy was a locker room cancer. All he did was whine at a time when that particular team had non-leader captain (Nash) and were working a system that wasn't set for the personnel they had, and it certainly didn't fit Commodore's skill set since he doesn't skate particularly well for a D-man.

12/1 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Senators 2, Alfredsson scores ENG

    What the hell.....?

    Nyquist Getting the call

Why is it I fully expected to come here to see Nyquist was sent back down? Glad he's staying around for a while.

11/19 GDT: Predators 2 at Red Wings 0

The answers aren't on the roster currently. Nor is the answer sitting in the GM's office.

    What's Killing Our Offense?

Outside of Pavs (when he's shooting) and Hank (when his back isn't hurting him), there isn't a true consistent scorer on the roster who isn't either "over-ripe" or older than the hills (Alfie, and even that he's a scorer anymore is debatable)....

    10/17 GDT : Red Wings 4 at Avalanche 2

Good to hear the damage appears (now) at least to be superficial....
  24. BuckeyeWingsfan80

10/10 GDT: Coyotes 4 at Red Wings 2

    meh.....they're "over-ripe" for a goal....or something.....

Cleary re-signs with Detroit, 1 year, $1.75m deal

Ther'es a shock. I guess you like status quo and barely getting into the playoffs.
