    fall of the wings

dcox@thestar.ca <dcox@thestar.ca> I'm going to let him know about how much I agree with his opinion
  4. 1. Roloson makes Hasek look consistent in his streakiness 2. Why? 3. Detroit needs to keep their draft picks. The next couple draft classes are extremely deep.

    Steve Mason with another shutout

two points I'd like to add for you since I've seen him probably 20 times this year since I live near Columbus.... 1. The BJs defense plays much more aggressively when he's in net vs. when LeClaire is in the net. They seem to have more confidence in him and they also appear to have some sort of defensive rhythm that I saw even during the first 2 periods of the CBJ-Detroit game. 2. While a lot of the shots he faces are from the outside, Washington started crashing the net starting in the 2nd last night and he still stoned them. San Jose did the same thing a couple weeks ago. If the CBJ ever get anyone healthy and keep them that way, they'll likely make the playoffs AND if they trade well and get someone to actually compliment Rick Nash without giving anything up they could go pretty far in the playoffs too since they play defense so well. they do kind of remind me of Calgary in 2003/4.

1/6 GDT: Red Wings 3, Blue Jackets 0

the jackets always seem to play the Wings tough in the middle of the year.... I'll say Wings 3 (Zett, Franzen, Hudler) CBJ 2 (Nash, Tyutin)

way to NOT adjust anything at halftime and way to let Texas march up and down the field without even bothering to call a TO to stop something. This game is not on the players - they were completely out-coached in this one just like the National title game last year.

Texas has figured out that Ohio State plays nothing but zone unless it's 3rd down. It's over already.

I kinda doubt they'll win either, but it will be nice to see Beanie run one more time I just hope it's a good game. Unfortunately my guess is they'll use that dumbass 7 yard cushion they've used for the past 3 years and McCoy will dink and dunk them all the way down the field.

Tressel has said a couple different times he doesn't foresee himself coaching much past his mid-60s if that. by then Dantonio may be out of the running simply because I think he'll get something going at MSU.

I Love to Hear Broadcast Crews Squirm

Danny Gare isn't that horrible. And you can hear him hesitate when the Wings are playing the BlowJackets....

2009 Winter Classic: Red Wings 6, Blackhawks 4

I'm not even bothering to watch this exhibition game that for some reason counts. It's not a classic and it really doesn't matter. Look where the Wings dominate - it won't be this game because of the crappy ice in this "rink".

    Franzen or Hossa?

While I think overall on a skill vs. skill basis, Hossa is indeed the better player. However the NHL is not a vaccum and while having HOssa this year is great, Franzen is the guy who should be resigned. With Homer getting older, Franzen is RIGHT THERE as his heir apparent in front of the net on the power play. Hossa, while almost a surefire HOFer and hopefully Stanley Cup champ this year, isn't worth ruining the cap space for the foreseeable future given what is at GR right now.

12/27 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Avalanche 4, (SO)

they got a point, after being down 3-0, without Lids, on the road, on the back end of a backtoback... I'll take it.

this game is only 3-3 because of Budaj..... his defense is giving him NOTHING despite what the horrific Altitude announcers say...

    Stamkos and Zherdev throwing down...

Looking at the comments, there was some debating about whether the hit by Stamkos was dirty or not... Had he caught Zherdev squarely it probably would have been called boarding or charging, but oh well...
