Sorry that I was unclear. What I mean is a player should attend the ASG if he is healthy. I don't believe Nick or Pavel would have stayed home if either were able to play. Yes, the team medical staff would be entrusted with the decision. Now that the players are aware of the "Crosby Rule" they could avoid suspension if they were able to make an appearance.

The NHL Network does have something against the Wings. Their promos, when they do show the Wings, show something bad happening to them. I agree that the commercial in question would be ok if the Pens were playing against a team that they had actually beaten in the playoffs. As far as the idiot in the commercial goes, I know I have acted stupid before when the wings have scored.

He is motivated now and IF he stays away from the party scene and concentrates on getting into shape he may have an excellent season. Remember he is still a young man (36). Excellent point. As far as the original post, and I can't remember names, many pundits over the years have chosen Lidstrom as the player they would build a team around.

I think it would be great to have Shanny in St. Louis. When I watched Ranger games I kept an eye out for him and Avery.

The reason that everyone is so excited about Hossa is that he epitomizes the Wing's style. Who else scared you during the Finals? Remember him sitting on the ice after game 6? Also, he signed for peanuts to play for the Wings. I think he will sacrifice everything to win a cup.

They are one of the teams that worry me most. It would be great to have a rival again. I loved hating the Avs. It was great when we beat them in the playoffs. The cup, itself, was anticlimatic. Good luck Scotty. Thanks for the memories.

That's what I think too. Really, Hossa was the only one that made me squirm in my seat anytime he touched the puck during the finals. I couldn't believe we signed him. It's, I believe, the best FA signing in recent Red Wings history.

I expect the first line's ice time to decrease during the regular season. The second and third lines will have more then last year. That doesn't necessarily mean a decrease in points, however. As far as Hank being the points leader or MVP, anything is possible if he stays off the DL.

Lucky you!! I haven't seen many prettier goals on video. A still shot of the puck on his stick, however, would suggest a GOOD goal. Not great. It was a fantastic goal when it happened.

What were your favorite Red Wings plays during the finals. Mine are, in no particular order: 1. Any of Pavel's hits. I started this I can cheat 2. Sammie's first goal in game 1. 3. Flip's dive goal. 4. Stuart's hit on Sid. 5. Zetterberg's legendary defense during the famous 5 on 3.

1. I agree. ANY team with Pronger on the roster. I didn't have real hate for him until, when playing for St. Louis during the playoffs, he tried to put a high hit on Yzerman when Steve was against the boards and vulnerable. (Like the Homer hit but without the glass) He was definitely trying to injure. Steve ducked, Pronger hit the boards and injured himself. Wings won series. Priceless! :thumbup: 2. Pittsburgh. Because of all the undeserved attention they get. No cups since Mario yet they are one of the "Elite" teams of the NHL. The way the media drooled over them, I almost felt sorry that we beat them. Sorry we ruined the story.

I was just talking about the finals but you're right. Possibly the most important goal of the playoffs.

However, I would have felt better if he had said something like "I signed with Detroit because I wanted to play hockey with these guys. They work hard every outing and that's how I approach the game.
