Nice thread. It's great to be reading about the positives of the Wings' D. With all of the hits it's taken in the last few years, their future looks better than I ever could have imagined. Now all we need is for a few players to put the puck in the net! -

Good for the Hawks. A truly impressive feat, especially considering all of the road games they've played. I haven't considered them a rival though since the 60s. In fact, the only team that I've thought of as a rival is the Avs and that ended years ago. I don't really think we have one now.

Don't remember the date, but the Wings were down 2-0 in Chicago 4-5 years ago and had been outplayed most of the game. Detroit scored a goal with 16 seconds left. Dats then scored with less than a second left in regulation to tie. The goal went to review to see if the clock had run down. It was a good goal and the Wings went on to win in OT.

Agreed. There are as many "Snowbirds" from The Great White North as there are from the U.S. out here in the Winter. If you want to talk hockey, go to any RV park in Arizona in the winter time. Come April, they all head back home though, just in time for the playoffs.

Lids had a great shot from the point, but lots of Dmen do. He was a pretty good skater, but lots of Dmen are. His talent at making accurate passes was extraordinary. His unique talent was cerebral. Maybe one of the best ever at being in the right place at the right time. IMHO I don't know if there will ever be another like him, including his children.
