bert would be good, the guy is hungry and wants the cup bad, kinda like drake. We all know what bert brings and it can really help this team when it matters most, and like one poster stated, a bert helm leino third line would be amazing. If we could get him on the cheap why not, it's certainly better than some of the options out there right now (although it be very few). Let abdelkader spend one final year in gr and can be a call up incase of injuiries, then let a guy like newbury or downey have the 13th forward spot, no point in letting mcgrath or ouhalen rot away in the press box when they can get meaningful minutes in GR. mule/z/cleary fil/dats/homer leino/helm/bert maltby/draper/eaves(i would even go as far as having malts as the spare) downey/newbury not going to bother with the D as that is already set in stone, ericsson will be playing with one of lebda, meech, lilja on botom pairing looks good to me, then holland can always add that player around the deadline if he chooses to do so but i doubt he will have the money, maybe a depth defenseman then for the playoffs bring up abby mule/z/cleary fil/dats/homer leino/helm/bert abby/draper/eaves maltby i really think holland is waiting out on bert to get him real cheap. If anyone wanted him he'd have a team by now. In Kenny we trust

although I agree fluery doesnt belong on that list, by reading through the comments it seems like a lot of posters still have a sour tase in thier mouths

Derek Meech

meh.....

neither will be playing because mccollum will do his best steve mason impression this season when ozzie/horward sucks or gets injured. Then when they playoffs come around he will morph into cam ward and you know the rest

Red Wings look toward the post-Chris Osgood era
redwingfan19 replied to titanium2's topic in General
We will see Mccollum this year, he is going to tear it up in GR, then when one of Howrad/Ozzie is either injured or sucking he will come in and pull a Steve Mason you can book it, this kid is for real -
Yzerman is the wings and what every redwing should strive to be, on and off the ice. The Red Wings pride themselves as being a classy organization. You don't get any classier than Stevie Y. He is also Hollands Heir

do not wantz antropov 2.0

fack....wanted moen really
-
moen and or kostopolus, leino is huds replacment
-
if we can't afford hudler what makes you guys think we can afford kotalik
-
also it should be noted that once the contracts come off the books after this coming season the wings have 16M in cap to play with
-
i was going by the TSN repot, but if its 2 years then that sucks. But im pretty sure huds will have some sort of out clause so my theory still may work
-
no, we have about 2m in cap
-
they are just stashing huds over there for the year, then when the contracts come off the books they will be able to give him his deal next off season when there is significantly more cap space available this is my theory
-
so basically the wings are stashing huds over in russia for a year until some contracts are off the books and they can pay him market price (2.5-3M range). I really like this idea cause I would be sad to see huds go to another team. Plus now kenny can focus on the roster for next year not having to worry about huds win win if you ask me
-
the OP idea isn't too far fetched, except for the lidstrom thing hell lids may even decide to retire after this year anyways. next offseason will be a very busy one for kenny and co
-
I would love for one of those guys to be the extra forward when we play teams like the ducks (regular season obviously)
-
my gut says bertuzzi too. as the OP quote says "hooland is looking for a rugged forward with offensive touch" bertuzzi is really the only guy on my list that fits that bill. maybe mike grier?, moen, or possibly mark bell its going to be one of these guys, and i'd be happy with anyone of them as long as its for a good price
-
lidstrom>>>>>>>>>>>>raffi, sorry but he will not make less than raffi does
-
here is a list of some of the grity forwards still available jermey reich andrew peters tom kostopolud mithc fritz mike sillinger mark bell blair betts brad isbister wade brookbank david koci matt pettinger brad may kris newbury ben ondrus donald brasher todd bertuzi warren peters andre roy steve begin derek armstrong scott nichol brian mcgratton mike grier travis moen jeff cowan so there is still alot of gritty guys available, just a matter of finding the right one i suppose. Some good guys on this list that would be great addition to the wings.

it's not that he can't produce, he just cant keep up with z and pavs. He has never been very good skater but he has really lost a step. all those years of abuse are starting to show. Plus he is getting up there in age and injuries are becoming and issue. Keep him on the 4th line where he will be well rested for powerplays, and by doing this babs can keep him nice and fresh for the playoffs when we need a guy like homer the most.
-
dats/fil/clears mule/z/huds leaino/helm/abdelkader maltby/drapes/homer downey lids/ericsson krons/stuie lebs/lilja meech ozzie howie i got homer on 4th line during 5 on 5 situations and obviously he would be on the 1st PP
-
i never even thought about mark bell, i'd like to see him get an invite to camp and pull a cleary. Big strong guy who goes to the net hard is always good to have come playoff time
