I am very PRO fighting and when that fight broke out last night I was out of my seat waving my fist screaming " Get him Drakey get em" Hopefully with Drake, Downey and perhaps Lilja we may see some more of that this year. I would also Like to see Kopy get in some fights, he is definitely big enough. Maybe he could become a more skilled Ivannas, he could of had a fight last night with O'Donnell when he ran Prongoon, but skated away.....

Wow, im quite surprised they didn't jump on the Ottawa bandwagon. A lot of those same guys picked Anaheim last year and look what happened. But the Wings still have a lot of work to do, but I like our mix of vets and young guns, If we could add another "healthy" PF like Bertuzzi (don't know who would be available) at the deadline it could put this team over the top IMO.

don't get your hopes up about Downey he could just be another Norton and play 6 games. But the difference between Downey and Norton is that Downey can actually skate quite well and can win some fights so here's hoping he sticks around for the year. It be great to have a guy like Downey to insert in the line up when we play the Aniheim' s and Calgary's of the league. Now I hope Grigs will just be down there for a couple weeks to get his conditioning up to par so he's ready to play in the big show. i must admit I was not impressed when I first saw him but he did start to play better as the pre season wore on so here's hoping he stays in NA gets his conditioning up and adjusts to the NA game.

It's a by product of the instigator rule. The problem should have been dealt with then and there when Moore took that run at Naslund, heck without the instigator rule it may not of even happened because Moore would have known something would be coming pretty much right away or the next shift. worst rule ever put in hockey, get rid of it.

I'd imagine Drapes will play center on the PK he should be paired with Malts as usual and we all know Malts doesn't take faceoffs. I think he will only play the wing 5 on 5.

He will be taking faceoffs then switch over to the wing, then who ever is on the wing switches over to center after the faceoff.

Agreed, I think Quincey is the youngest most NHL ready Defenceman the Wings have right now. I think he could step in a full time role this year and do well. But since thats not likely to happen I wouldn't mind seeing him In GR because I don't want to see him sitting out all the time, that said give it to Meech, I trust him WAY more than Sopel. That guy's defense downright scares me If Meech can get some games in this year and preform well, he could become some pretty good trade bait. I'm sure there is plenty of teams looking for a young puck moving defenceman. It's better than loosing him for nothing. With the depth the Wings have at the D position I think it's safe to say Meech is expandable.

Ugh Sopel is horrible, don't want this guy anywhere near our team. Basically a Lang on defence. Terrible giveaways one that stands out is the puck he gave away in tampa while playing the point on the powerplay which resulted in a tampa breakaway and I think berkhole made the stop but still. Jason williams on the powerplay ring a bell? thats what you get with sopel. DOes have a monster shot though when it hits the net.

Can't Kindl go back to Kitchener this year? he's only 20 and I think he can play this final year. I would like to see him play a full year in GR and see how he handles that.

So who's left to fight it out for the final roster spots? Quincey, Downey, Ericsson, Grigrenko, Ryno, Ritolla, meech, am I missing anyone? Really surprised to see Sopel not released after the way he has played...

Not trying to be a jerk but have you watched any preseason games? the ones i've seen he's looked awful and the kids have been looking a lot better than him IMO.

I saw the fight and it was a draw. Roy started out good but downey came back and landed a couple and had one really good one that stunned roy a bit then roy came back then downey had the take down.

Ya, the only 2 games that will be on center ice online is the ones against the leafs, well at least for me anyways. So basically you will get to see 2 out of the last remaining 5 Wings pre season games if your relying on center ice online.
